Hello all,

unfortunately I damaged part of the mainboard next to the resistor R7T3 while rebuilding the LPC port on my Xbox 1.6(see picture attached). Anyone has a idea how to fix this? I tried already to solder a wire to connect the two broken wires. Unfortunately it’s too small for me to fix it. Thanks for your help. 617BB725-6720-4E77-9C2A-4D0D44A61A50.thumb.jpeg.10ae631b1e8e8f318c5fba757d4ef69d.jpeg

Christ on a camel. That soldering job makes me want take a shower. That is some thick-ass gauge wire.

Anyway, if that trace is severed, you're gonna have to scrape the coatings off both ends and solder/bridge the gap... Preferrably with much smaller wire. If you are unable, ask a local guy who can solder. No biggie. :)

And where is a alternative point to connect the LPC port?

Sorry man. Didn't mean to be a dick before. Are you the one who did the soldering? If so, i would take it to somebody who is used to doing stuff like this. Have them repair the trace and then complete the lpc rebuild. I know you may want the satisfaction of doing it yourself but you dont wanna' destroy your box. Or, just get a 1.0-1.4 xbox on ebay for like, 20 bucks, solder the pin header into the lpc and the d0 and be done.

Follow the trace away from the break in it to a via.  Solder a wire to each via to bridge the break (essentially replacing the broken trace with a wire bypassing the problem area).

It might come handy.

There you go niko. Try soldering to the end of that trace.

If he bypasses the break in the trace, it shouldn't cause a problem, right? Unless it goes somewhere in addition to the lpc?

Good find with the trace diagram, sweet.

It's not your eyes. It's the parts which getting smaller. :D;)

The components used in the OG Xbox are huge compared to stuff made now.

Yes some form of magnification is defiantly needed.

Cheers

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
