Hello Everyone.

Since I found this site I have dug into my basement and uncovered all my xboxs and ready to get back to them after many years of just sitting. One thing I found was me X-tender kit made by Farmer. Does anyone have any insite on this kit or advice? I am excited for getting this going..Also, I was wondering, with the appropriate adapters, could I possibly put in SATA drives? Potentially 6 TB...Oh my!!LOL

Xbox limits the HDD size to a maximum of 2TBs.

What type of IDE cable is supplied with that kit? I know it has 5 connectors: 1 host, 1 Slave for the DVD and 3 masters for the HDD's with only 1 powered on at any given time.

But, is it a standard 40-wire 40-pin cable or an 80-wire 40-pin cable?

For reliable SATA HDD/IDE-to-SATA adapter use, a high-speed 80-wire cable is necessary.

I am currently working all the final bugs out of my triple 2tb x3ce x3cp Xtender box. i am having problems with all 3 drives having a constant ground connection From the Xtender PCB and am getting ready to re-engineer the 3 hard drive power lines with 12v relays in them to cut the ground on the 2 drives that aren't active. Having all 3 drives grounded is making the x3cp's hard drive light stay on constant. as far as drives though, all 3 are working and loading software just fine and I'm just using the cheap IDE/SATA adapters in it for now. I have changed the lights in my Xtender PCB and attached a set of 3 relays to control my RGB lights with the Xtender. All of the lit jewels on the xtenders have LED RF controllers to power them on & off, set a pattern, or dim them. The 6tb box took 3 controllers to control the jewels lights as the lighting package is in 3 different circuits. Its turning out to be my best build but i do have others too. my other 2 xtenders are more standard though, running on 1.6 boards with triple 500 IDE drives, no chip, softmod all the way. My other 3 Xboxes all run with a 2tb (or 3 2tb's for the big one) with x3ce's, on 1.0 boards. All 5 of my boxes have Xerc's, with relayed DVD receiver PCBs attached to port 4 (except the 6tb box, i didnt want to mess with the usb ports on the x3cp so i connected my built in, relayed, dvd pcb to port 2). One of my best friends has an xtender that i built for him too (1.6 - 500 IDE/500 IDE/750 IDE -- But he wants to upgrade to 6tb 1.0 Tsop when i work out all the bugs on mine). i also have a couple kits in the boneyard to pick spare parts from (non complete kits). I am currently working this kind of project so if you have any questions we can talk and bounce ideas off of each other. I have a lot of knowledge, info, and experience with these kits and LED lighting that i can share. Hit me up if you wanna chat!

All of the xtender kits i've seen have an 80 wire IDE. I've seen 2 different versions of an xtender IDE cable. One has a block With a pcb junction in it that goes on the back of the dvd drive and has 3 ribbons coming out. The other variant I've seen is one continuous line, like a normal IDE cable but longer, and with 5 plugs on it rather than the normal 3.

So, If i understand correctly this kit is basically Long IDE Cable with Multiple headers and a multi select power switch.

( and a bunch of plastic parts to mount HDD's )

Im guessing you cant switch HDD's Hot and needs to be powered down?

If i only had a 3d printer and knowledge how to use 3d software.

Yes, it really is just a 5 plug ide cable (80 wire) with a switching pcb for the power to the 3 drives, And then a bunch of metal panels.

All of the parts are Aluminum, not plastic, although they could probably be 3d printed in plastic and work just fine.

The PCB that controls the hard drive power automatically power cycles the system when you change the drive.
