Obviously you will get diminishing returns but jobs are always easier and have a higher chance of success when you have good tools. Just using really nice silver bearing solder will improve your work tremendously. The small things add up to make a big difference.
SS_Dave
I would spend a little bit more and get this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096JWV3HS/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B096JWV3HS&pd_rd_w The iron looks a better one and uses the Hakko tip's, it also has a temperature display. The solder sucker (Desoldering pump)also is better Other items you should look for are 0.8mm 60/40 solder ( Not lead free), Flux paste Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing. BTW since my console is about to be softmodded, if I ever decide to do this hardmod thing, how can I delete my softmod og Xbox before installing a hardmod? If you re re-flashing the on board bios you 1sst add the 2 links to the board then flash the new bios file, Once it's re flashed the load a installer disk like the OGXbox installer 2021 and it has a remove soft mod option. If you fit a mod chip you can load the same disk after fitting it and use it to remove the soft mod files. If you are going to fit a mod chip then you don't need to soft mod it 1st. Although if you can solder a modchip it's less soldering to reflash the bios on a 1.0-1.4 and the 1.2 - 1.4 you don't have to remove the main board as the 2 links are on the top of the board and you can even use a conductive pain to make the 2 links need. But I can always delete the softmod files to hardmod it at a later time right? (although I have to do this all BEFORE the deciding to hardmod right?) You can leave the Xbox soft modded until the Xbox has been hard modded then you will need to remove the soft mod files as most soft mods and hard mods don't play nice with each other..
