Hi Everyone,

I have a Winbond TSOP flashed 1.4 xbox, Using EvoX M8+ F and G bios. Used the Hexen 2018 disc. just upgraded to a WD 2TB HDD. After upgrading I got a black screen.

I put everything back to normal (original HDD) and is working.

The adapter I'm using:

SATA Adapter

Cable I'm using:

80 wire cable

Video of xbox turning on:

After looking at the SATA to IDE adapter, the capacitors looks bad. They have some white stuff.

Could this be the adapter? the adapter is set to master

Capacitors:

yeah if i remember correctly it was either here or assemblergames someone posted a topic about those adapters being bad but someone else said you might be able to just replace those two caps and it may work again but no guarantee

edit found it!

The video you posted, however, shows FRAG'ing.  This problem shouldn't be fixed by just swapping the HDD back to the old one.  I thought a bad IDE-to-SATA adapter would result in the display of an error 07 screen, HDD timeout, not a FRAG.  But, maybe the adapter's not working well enough for the IDE bus to see it then the console would FRAG as a major subsystem of the console is failing upon startup.

Replace the two caps on the adapter. The capacitance value should be written on the side.  All I see in the photos is their temperature rating - 105 degrees C.  They are electrolytic capacitors so you must install them in the proper orientation.  They have a + and - terminal.

Well, I just got the startech adapter and is doing the same thing.. don't know what to do.

Could this be a bad 80 wire cable?

if i remember correctly when you tsop you have to lock the hard drive (i could be wrong on that) i also found this doing a quick google search

I guess I just thought of one reason to leave your hard drive locked, although it's a fringe case. If you have a modchip installed but you don't have your TSOP flashed, then on the off chance that your modchip dies, you won't be able to boot properly from the TSOP until you lock the hard drive. The easiest solution to this would be to also flash your TSOP (if your Xbox is version 1.0-1.5), although it's highly unlikely in general that your modchip would die. I personally always flash the TSOP even if I install a modchip just in case I ever decide to remove the modchip.
