I've identified the board as a 1.4 or a 1.5 (can't find out exactly which, but it has the Focus video chip). I can't find any information to help split between the two but it also looks like it's not that important either... Looks like I caught the clock capacitor just in time with some very minor markings on the top of it so that will be removed - it looks like it doesn't need fitting with a TSOP mod as this fixes the date? (RIP some of the best clock based cheats). I've got some K40263238D-QC50 RAM chips already in my system and looking to use it to run games off the HDD and emulators etc... From what I can find it looks like it's worthwhile upgrading this... other than this and the clock capacitor, are there any other recommended actions or mods whilst the mainboard is out? The is only a very limited number of Xbox games that need the 128 meg ram, some of the dashboards work better with the extra ram as do a lot of emulators. When I do ram upgrades I have Xblast on a mod chip and when i have tested the ram then a flash the on board bios but you could flash the bios 1st but I still recommend using a modchip with Xblast. I know the 128 upgrade isn't essential but as the primary use will be playing original Xbox games and N64 games I figured it would be worthwhile as I know how much of a PITA the N64 emulators can be coming backwards from the RPi world of emulation. I did briefly look at the internal HDMI conversion - how would you rate that over the original Xbox HD/composite setup as those I can acquire in the UK (everything good seems to be in the US ), it's probably going to be mostly used with a VGA monitor which also has it's pitfalls... fitting things and soldering is not an issue for me and have access to stencil printers, dispensors, reflow ovens etc too. SS_Dave Posted April 28, 2021 Report Share Posted April 28, 2021 The wii2hdmi, N64freaks HDMI, the plug in one from Chimeric systems all use component converted to HDMI with the wii2hdmi using analog audio and the other 2 use digital to inject to the HDMI. There is also a Digital HDMI that bypasses the video chip from MakeMHZ that now upscales. I have no experience using VGA but from what I have read it's not compatible with all VGA monitors.
