willis
I recently did a softmod to my xbox and now it's using unleashx. Once done, the led changes to the orange color while running. Is there a way to change it back to green or does it do that on purpose because of it being modded and running a new dash?
SS_Dave
Have a look in system settings for LED color On the one here it's Xbox Admin System Settings System then scroll down to Led Color Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Most softmods change the eject ring color so you know it's running in a modded configuration. If you boot an original game disc, the eject ring will remain green because the softmod has not yet been actived. Edit: The stock BIOS first checks for a game disc in the DVD drive before running the stock dashboard. Only after the stock dashboard runs does the softmod get activated. The color can be changed in the replacement dashboard as you've already found out.
HDShadow
I've mentioned this before here but worth repeating that if you used AID (Auto Installer Deluxe) to install a dashboard/update an old SID softmod it will Xmas tree on first boot ie. go through all the LED colours, then orange before going to the default, usually green. On reboot it will just go to orange for a few seconds (indicating the softmod is active) before it switches to the default green. That initial Xmas tree LED display often worries new users but its quite normal. Other software, softmods may alter the LED as a warning too ie. that you're using something potential dangerous to your Xbox. Chimp, ConfigMagic, various HeXEn functions and the AID dual boot installer dash tray out option are good examples of this.
willis
Good to know HDShadow. I'm just using unleashx and I see in the system settings led menu you can choose what color you want (red/green/yellow/orange) to display when different actions are taking place. You can also choose between solid or flashing.
