Help identifying a Modchip

So i opened my V1.0 Xbox to do some cleanup and was reading about TSOP, so i got the motherboard out and saw this.

The Xbox boots into the Unleash X dashboard and there are no logos or other signs of a modification.

The Xbox is softmodded i think, with a 160Gb HDD.

I wonder what functions i can activate with the modchip and know for sure if it's working? It seems it's not doing anything.

Thanks.

Looks like a very old 29-wire modchip. Best to cut that thing out and flash the TSOP, or install a more modern modchip.

First thing, get a copy of the eeprom.bin

There are various paths to take from there, but I would make sure the hard drive is locked, carefully remove the modchip, and flash the TSOP.

Yes a 29 wire mod chip

The bios on that chip is unlikely to support a bigger hard drive and the bios file can not be updated..

You have 2 options

1: TSOP flash as described by mvax

2: Remove that mod chip and fit a newer mod chip

The 2nd option is the safest and depending on thee mod chip you go for it may already have a bios that will support a 2tb or 3tb (2.2 usable).

The Aladdin chips are still shipped with a older bios but it is a simple thing to update it.

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
