sinclairuser
hi all, last year i modified an old og xbox to take a different power supply, but that unit is at our caravan 400 miles away, i have just got an xbox for free but it has no dvd drive(i have a spare), and no power supply. i have an atx supply i can plug in to try and get it working, and i can just make the atx supply always on, but i cant remember if i can just ignore the non power wires, ps on, power good etc. so basically what i'm asking is what do i do with the other wires in the xbox plug?, i know the pinouts of my xbox plug but i cant remember what to do with the extra wires, can i just tape them off? for process of testing, i can wire it up with the diodes and a transistor later if the xbox boots. thankyou aly, ps i hate getting old i used to have a great memory. SS_Dave
The Xbox supplies a positive 3.3 volt Pow-On signal the PC supply needs a negative power on signal The power OK on the Xbox it not needed to run from a PC supply as the ATX supply gets that from it's 5volt rail The rest are need on the Xbox 5 volt, 12 volt, 3.3 volt and Ground Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing. sinclairuser
thanks dave, i know about the pow on signal, i even know how to fix it and have the bits in parts drawers, but i just want to plug in an atx supply to see if its worth messing with and could not remember if the "extra" wires at the xbox end needed connecting to anything. thanks again, aly.
