Old Xenium chip blue, having issues.....this is probably been talked about before.

Recommended Posts

So after 19 years I pulled my v1.0 out blew the dust off of it. Turned it on things were not ok. Long story short clock cap pulled, damaged traces fixed. Fired it up and the Xenium logo comes up , some text in upper left that can’t be read lol then it just sits there and does nothing. Chip led is lit up red, used to be orange. Reset solderless pin mount and double checked D0 everything looks good....but again still stuck at boot up. Could use some input. Thanks in advance for patience as I’m sure this has come up before ..I couldn’t find it.

That probably because that all that on that stock hard drive.

The original Xenium I have will not load unless there is  DVD and HDD connected to the Xbox.

It will still load the Xenium menu with out the drives attached by pressing the Eject button to power on the Xbox.

Have you tried to load a install disk(Aid, Hexen, Slayers, OGxbox installer)

Nope sadly I don’t even remember where to get that stuff.  This machine hasn’t run in 15 years. I just remember turning it on having an M.S. controller in a port and it worked.

Have a look here.

I think you will find it will load this.

What happen when you power on by the eject button?

It is a bit strange it has the Xenium splash screen but nothing else

What happens if you ground the D0 point and then try pressing the eject?

My money is on thee solderless install.

I would remove the solderless adaptor d solder the chip in correctly using a pin header,

but if your not confident soldering then remove the adaptor and clean all the contacts with isopropyl especially the small wire sticking out the side.

I am sure that by fixing the connections to the main board from the solderless adaptor it will work again

      Hi,
I have a hard modded OpenXenium chip with a 1 TB WD Blue HDD.  I have everything set up and I am trying to get more than 200 GB - with more than  > 200 GB left on a partition.  Filezilla is not letting me do that.  I am just trying to transfer the titles.  They are all HDD ready for transfer but they do not go through at a certain point.  They  all become failed transfers.  The bios I am using is unleashed x from the OGXBOX installer.  It was not flashed by the program but was transferred by my network.  It is a CEE bios.   I switch dashboard sometimes.  The only one that I have on there that is not preinstalled is Emulation Station. I had used the DVDmulleter to get the bios necessary.  The HDD has been partitioned correctly having being split from F to G the remaining left.  I am fairly new to this and any advice to help would be beneficial.

      Hello Together,
I bought an xbox today and planned to do a softmod.
When opening the console to remove the clock capacitor, I noticed that a modchip is already installed.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information about this chip.
      Can you help me further?
Can I just ignore the chip or should I pay attention to something?
Is it possible to simply install a SoftMod !

Thank you for your help !

Hello a couple of days ago I was testing my newly built component cables (Before using them I tested everything with a multimeter and nothing was shorting and I was able to play with them and they looked great since I used shielded 360 cables so I don't think that the cable is the problem) on my Xbox and it was working perfectly fine, I restarted it a couple of times and I didn't have a single problem, today I tried to play again and I got stuck on the iND-Bios splash screen with the light blinking red and green with no change, it just gets stuck there.
My Xbox is tsoped and I have installed a 320 Samsung hard drive with an IDE to SATA adapter and an 80 wires IDE cable (Properly insulated), the DVD drive mechanism is not in the best condition since it needs help to eject or insert itself sometimes but it reads discs perfectly fine when they get inside, I tried booting tru Hexen 2019 and the console kept ejecting it, I'm not sure if this is related to the bios stuck problem or the disc drive itself (I didn't have the need to use it for the last half of the year since the HDD was working perfectly fine and I didn't do any major changes to the dashboard/bios).
Aside from that it was working without any problems and I didn't change any configs, I just played DOA 3 and Crazy Taxi 3.
Now the console just doesn't turn on, I press the power button or eject and the fan spins one time and nothing happens.

And i went ahead and took pictures of the motherboard:

      Motherboard Bottom: https://imgur.com/a/x7QU5BH
      Capacitors close up: https://imgur.com/a/rtsa2IR
None of them seem to be bulging or leaking, and the clock cap is a Nichicon cap (the golden ones) and it looks perfectly fine, the console was retaining the date without problems.

Same deal here, all the caps seem to be fine, no leaking or bulging.
So i'm not sure what else to check, any advice?
Thanks for your time, and let me know if I need to provide more info. Apologies for my grammar errors, English is not my first language.
