Can't get my slim to boot without a dvd drive

What the title says. I've flashed my smart xx with X2 5032 and tried manipulating both the text file in the e-petition as well as as using X2 config maker to confirm that the DVD check is removed.

Unfortunately it just refuses to boot I know that the config is working because the wireframe flubber shows up but it will just sit endlessly loading after that.

It boots correctly with a drive plugged in.

Any help?

And if your HDD is a WD blue it will not work at all like you can read in the same topic

Holy crap dude, you nailed it: it's a 160gb IDE WD Blue. I tried it with two hard drives, the other one was a WD Black, didn't work on that either. Mind blown.

Ultimately I had a DVD drive PCB wrapped in electric tape lying around that i plugged in, boots flawlessly.

Damn dude though, how do people figure this out. Well done.

I have WD blacks in 2 different Xbox's and both boot with the DVD disconnected.

What drive did you but the X2 config file?

E drive as per the readme text that came with the bios from the eye.eu site

I noticed you are using the X2-5032.bin

Have you tried the X2-5035 bios

x2.5035.67.bin

Yes, i tried 5035 first then noticed that the config maker specified 5032 and thus tried that one instead. No dice. Glad i had my ghetto pcb wrapped in electrical tape still lying around!
