eustachy1973
I have an xbox slim without a dvd drive. The 40 GB hard drive starts up without a problem. Unfortunately 320 gb disk, frozen logo. I have formatted the disk several times and unfortunately the same continues. If the dvd drive is plugged in, the xbox will boot without problem. Any suggestions? Edited December 16, 2020 by eustachy1973
sweetdarkdestiny
You need a noDVD bios.
eustachy1973
The problem is that the bios is correct. After all, I wrote that the 40 gb drive works without a problem.

sweetdarkdestiny
What you could try is bridge pin 4 + 7 like shown in this picture : https://imgur.com/a/7M2Ton5 That tells the XBox the drive is there and rdy but without a DVD in it to boot. Worth a shot I think. Edited December 16, 2020 by sweetdarkdestiny
eustachy1973
This is what it will look like in the plug?
sweetdarkdestiny
Close but no. The pic i showed you is the mainboard header. Here You have pic with the right pins marked. https://imgur.com/a/V1BbIXH
SS_Dave
Like this This tells the main board the DVD dray is closed and has no disk. I also stops the led flashing even if you press the eject button/ You need to use a No DVD BIOS as well. Also check the HDD it set to master. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
eustachy1973
I checked this method. I have connected 4 other drives and they all work. unfortunately this model does not work. No point wasting my time.
