Or you could 3D print some brackets to hold a new fan

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Is this a 3pin fan? if so does it connect without any modification?

Also whats the general thought on spraying WD40 in the fan? like in this vid:

I tried taking the fan apart to clean and spray the ball bearings, I looked under the stickers top and bottom but its just solid plastic and no washer 🤷‍♂️

For real, don't bother lubing the fan becaus it will not hold for long if there is any chance to lub the fan at all. A new fan like the noiseblocker xs2 is 5-6 euros/bucks and hold much longer as a new lubed fan. Noctuas are nice but not for the job in a 1.0. With the little noctua you get worse temps as with a GPU block from a 1.1 and up because the spin to slow and move only half the air as the original fan. The noiseblocker xs2 isn any louder but moves more air and makes is the better way choice without dealing with lubing. Not to mention that this fan also moves way less air as the original one.

what kind of fan is that? and does it really move more air than a stock xbox fan?

https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B0083A0BY4/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=noiseblocker+fan+xm-2+-+40+mm&qid=1603621370&sr=8-1

And it dosn't move more air as the stock fan.  The Noctua moves less than half of the stock and the Noiseblocker moves a little more as the half (close to 2/3) of the stock fan. If you want something equal to the stock dan look for the Adda AD0412MX-G70-LF. Which is basicly the same fan just in a normal "fan layout".

And i see i have wrote XS (50mm which is nice for the CPU (see pic above))  instead of XM (40mm fan which is for the GPU). So sry for that.
