Tv Compatibility Problems

Hello. Im new guy here. More of a customer then a modder.

I recently purchased a modded xbox from a reputable source. The unit itself is great. I am having a problem though.

I have a 65" vizio 4k tv in my living room (this is where i need this setup). I cannot get a stable signal to the tv. It is constantly dropping signal every 2-10 seconds. The screen is blacking out and on.

I have spent all week trying to figure this out with multiple setups and adapters.

Tried panorama hd converter cable

Pound hd converter

Component to hdmi

Yes the connections are seated properly in the inputs. I tried every combination of all things on each individual hdmi input. All with the same results or worse even.

The xbox itself works good on older tvs i have in other rooms. So i do not think this is the problem.

I called vizio and they gave me a long answer which ended in the tv is just not compatible with this xbox. Which i think sounds like a bogus answer but, maybe they are right. Was basically that tv wont upscale an xbox to 4k. They told me hdmi 3 input is not a 4k input. That does not work either. I feel like their answer was lazy because if 4k is the problem and hdmi 3 input is not 4k and that does not work either then problem is something different.

I also have an email conversation open with guys from pound technology. So far they are of no help at all.

So my thoughts are who would know the answer to this better then the great people of ogxbox community. Guys who master fixing all problems xbox.

Tv model# is V655-G9

Has 3x hdmi input

And 1 x Composite (not component)

1 x Cable input

Anyone here has had this issue before and solved it?

I would appreciate very much any help you can provide. Thank you.

Edit: if there is a better category to post this in let me know so i can move post.

Hi and welcome. It definitely sounds like a tv issue, I would check your settings on the tv to see if you can find a combo that works. Do you have a composite cable you could try to see if you can get that to work?

I do not have a composite set. Didnt even think of that. I just ordered a set to see if that will work. Should arrive here sunday so i will update results.

I imagine composite wont offer much for video quality though will it? I question whether this solution will actually really be viable once it gets into playability of games. We will see i suppose.

Thanks for the input!

Edit: Also the tv does not have much control as far as aspect ratio, resolution etc... Everything is kind of automatic. Except for this...

Sounds like the Xbox probably need a recap.

I would try the composite lead and see what happens and ensure the Xbox is set to NTSC widescreen with 480, 720 don't use 1080p on the Xbox.

This does not surprise my at all, My advice is to send the Pound cable back for a full refund

In my view the pound cable it a piece of cr@p mine is in the junk box where it belongs.

I have tested it on all versions of Xbox and did a recap as that was posted as a fix and no difference the same Xbox's now have a wii2hdmi or a N64 freak HDMI.

Okay so the composite cables work fine. No issues now for several hours. The video quality is a little bland but not bad overall. Its not unplayable quality by any means so this is a good start for now.

Thanks for the input.

At least the composite is working, are you sure you don’t have a component outlet? On one of my TVs you have to go into settings and chose between composite and component.

It sounds like the Xbox it probably ok

The Pound cable is utter crap in my and heaps of other people's view, 1 in 100 people say the pound cable is a OK or good product.

The Panorama HD I can not comment on, I suspect it's a rebadged Pound adaptor or some other cheap copy.

The component to HDMI could be a low quality AV cable from the Xbox.

In some of the Xbox's I have built I have used a component to HDMI converter built in the Xbox with a auto select between the original composite cable and the HDMI output so if the Xbox is on a older TV you can you the composite or the HDMI on a newer TV.

Your options now would be a internal wii2hdmi or a N64 freak's HDMI internal kit, A plugin wii2hdmi from the Mod Shop on Facebook.

And if your in no hurry then there is a HDMI internal kit that is digital input from the GPU and Digital audio to give a true HDMI with 5.1 not to far away
