Ging3rguy
Hi, just TSOPed a 1.1 with IND-BIOS 5003. I used another disk drive as the one in the Xbox is faulty. All works fine with working disk drive but when I try to boot using the faulty drive the Xbox just hangs on the IND-BIOS screen. Do I need to try a different bios? Thanks in advance. Falcon639
I recommend checking out this post, it also deals with the DVD and may assist you. https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3141-weir-behavior-with-10-xbox-tsop/&tab=comments#comment-20311

I have a couple of other dead disk drives and working Xboxs, I will try swapping things around to see if it is the drive or the bios on the Xbox that is causing the problem. SS_Dave
When you say disk drive I am assuming the DVD drive. I use the X2-5035.67 in my version 1.1 without the DVD drive connected and have no problems. If you planning on not having a DVD I would suggest doing this as it tells the Xbox the DVD tray is closed and there is no disk in the drive it also stops the fount led from flashing if you press the eject button. Ging3rguy
Hi, update to this issue. The dvd drive is definitely stopping the dashboard from loading also the TSOP seems to have corrupted not sure if it was just on its way out. Installed an Aladdin chip and the 1.1 will load fine with either a dead or working dvd drive apart from the one that was in the Xbox. Does anyone think it would be possible to recover the TSOP using the 3 wire trick? The bios I loaded was a 256k using Hexen 18 which should have been fine and it did load okay until I put the original faulty dvd drive in. I could just leave it with the Aladdin installed but I have plenty of time to kill at the moment!
SS_Dave
What happens if the DVD drive is not plugged in? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Hi, with the Aladdin installed and the faulty dvd drive connected I get the error 7 screen, without a dvd drive connected the dashboard loads fine. I have locked the hdd and will taking off the chip and see if it will boot from the TSOP.
Ging3rguy
okay, TSOP is working with no DVD drive attached, I have flashed a 1mb bios M8+ to the box and loads to dashboard with a dead drive (not the faulty one). Anyone know why I would get the error 7 when the faulty one is connected?
SS_Dave
The only thing I could think of is as there is several control lines as well as the data lines in the IDE cable it's the DVD drive may be holding one of them at logic high or low and the Xbox sees that as a faulty Hard drive. Ging3rguy
Thanks, I will open up the dvd drive and compare it with one without any issues.
