jony954
Recently i picked up an OG xbox and found it cannot be powered up. i think mine is 1.4 version and PSU is Delta (100V~ 127V) First i found that the fuse is burn out so i replaced a same one. But when i plunged in the new fuse burn too. After testing it with multimeter, I found that a component is shorted and needed to be replaced but i don't know that kind of diode is it. On the board it's written "D904." Can someone help me identifying what diode is it ?
jony954
Here is the image of the component
Rogue Ogre
While I don't have a way to identify the specific type, it's definitely a diode, like the one here: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/on-semiconductor/LL4148/LL4148FSCT-ND/1923118?utm_adgroup=Diodes - Rectifiers - Single&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping_Discrete Semiconductor Products_NEW&utm_term=&utm_content=Diodes - Rectifiers - Single&gclid=CjwKCAiA44LzBRB-EiwA-jJipBaeSV2s9Yje7WZ0e4T1vYz4hOFdYjyu416nU2YYFfK1LI6lq4FarRoCTqQQAvD_BwE Please note that this is only an example; not the exact part you need. Hope that helps at least a little. - Rogue Ogre
jony954
Yes, i looked up a lot of information of diodes. There are so many kinds of diodes that looked like the same. I don't think we can tell which kind of it by its appearance.
KaosEngineer
It may not be the diode that's shorted. Another component attached to it in the circuit can make it appear that way. To properly test it, you need to remove it from the circuit (unsolder it from the printed circuit board).
