Sadane
Hello. Recently i tried to install X2 - Wolverines Revenge on my 1.6 hardmodded xbox and got black screen right after launch. I know there is an issue with 1.6 and HD output with some games but im using composite cable and CRT TV. Really cant figure out this problem. Any1 can help? SILEeeles
If you downloaded the game rather than installing it from a disc, have you checked the region of the game? I know ideally modding should remove the region restriction, but I've had trouble with some of them booting (I also have a 1.6 - only softmodded however). They load, maybe get to the main menu and then crash when loading the game, or just freeze on the loading screens or main menus or, indeed, blank screen. But when I got the EU (PAL) version of the game, rather than the NTSC or USA version, it worked perfectly. Otherwise I don't know what to suggest as I dont have a hard modded system (1.6 systems are difficult apparently and I cant be bothered with it lol)

jhark
The next thing I would try, even though you are using composite cable. I would go to the MS Dash board and turn off 480p, and try it again.
Sadane
Everything already disabled in EvolutionX dash and at MS Dash there is no options for any hd quality.
Sadane
Tried to update bios, no use, really strange problem =/ I think I'll just give up and use PS2 for this game. Tnx every1.
KaosEngineer
Have you had a component video cable connected in the past with 480p, 720p and/or 1080i enabled in the MS dashboard? There are some games that don't work properly if they see the setting enabled in the configuration EEPROM for a high-definition video output even though a Standard definition (composite) video cable is connected. when you connect the standard definition (composite) AV cable to the Xbox, the Video settings will not show the high-definition modes that are enabled. You will have to connect the component cable to be able to disable them.
Sadane
I had one connected before. So i need to connect it again and turn 480p and etc off? Tnx i'ill try that/

Tnx i'ill try that/ Give that a try. I know there's at least one game, can't remember the name of it right now, that has a problem showing a black screen with composite connected again after a component cable was used and had the high-definition settings enabled in the MS dashboard. A bug in the code, not exactly which code - XDK libraries or dev's game code, isn't checking the cable type in use and sees that high definition settings are enabled in the configuration EEPROM so setting up component output without checking the cable type in use - composite vs. component. I believe the game is sending out high definition video to the component pins of the AV connector while the composite cable is connected. The two video signal types, composite and component, are carried through different sets of pins on the AV connector.
Sadane
So i tried this solution and it didn't work. Still black screen. But i tried to use component cable with all HD settings disabled and xbox just restarted without black screen. So, the game played properly with the component AV cable connected even though all the high-definition settings were turned off in the MS dashboard's video settings - 480i resolution? Sadane
No, it just crushes xbox. I had 1080i enabled at MS dash, disabled it and tried to boot up game, xbox restarted two times in row. Next i used composite cable and got black screen.
