Hi, it's me again with another weird problem :D

So, my friend gave me another Xbox with the following issue.

When I plug in the power cable into the Xbox, the fan speed jump for about 4x highest than the normal (why it is turn on???). When I power up the Xbox, that is goes to normal speed. If I turn it off, than the speed jump to high speed again...

There is no any corrosion and the capacitors in good condition...

The Xbox is in original state. There is no modchip or softmod or TSOP flash.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

Does the xbox works properly when you switch it on ?

Can you confirm that this is the original PSU ? If yes, check with a multimeter if all outputs are correct. The most iimportant is the 5V, it has to be set between 5 and 5.1.

Is it a foxlink or a delta PSU ?

Could you share a picture without HDD and CDROM installed ?

Bye

Hi,

When I plugged the power cord in, the Xbox turn on, the fan speed up, and when the boot process started, the fan went down to the normal speed. I fixed the "automatic turn on" witk a 22k resistor. But... That is not solved the "fan" problem.

So, I got  another v1.4 Xbox and tested the motherboard with it. With that PSU it works like a charm. I think I have an issue with the PSU.

Attached the pictures from PSU. I think it is Delta. Checked the voltage and I measure 5.34 on all RED output and 10.64 on YELLOW.

Thanks for your help!

It is a Delta brand - says so right on the PSU's printed circuit board.

The 5Vdc level is too high and 12Vdc level is too low.

Were those voltages measured when the PSU was connected to the motherboard?
