Hello everyone,

My name is Thomas I bought a 1.4 Xbox from a thrift store about 2 weeks ago

No cables no nothing I managed to find the power cable in a lot of cables I had in my shed

But I ended up buying the component cable and a few games

I didn't know whether the Xbox would even turn on at this point

Luckily for me it did

today I did my first Mod. I removed the clock capacitor

Tomorrow I will do a softmod using the Rocky 5 method  with the MechAssault  CD

I've already gathered everything and install the Payload to USB Drive

just waiting for the USB cable to come in the mail Tomorow

September I'm hoping to do a hard drive swap installing a 500gb SSD

Looking forward to learning from everyone

And thanks for the advice in advance

If you are going to replace the HDD, be sure to use a good quality Sata to IDE adapter like this Startech branded one:

On Amazon I have seen it at a good price. I didn't know this before I purchased my cheap chinese one, and I regret because is taking months to get to my country. So, remember this advice, avoid chinese crap. Also try to get an original component cable for the Xbox, 3 party looks like crap on the Xbox, is not like other consoles were you can just use any 3rd party component cable and is fine.

The Xbox only looks good with official microsoft component cables, or making your own using a 360 component.

Cheers and welcome!

I have had some success with the cheap sata2ide adaptors, but i do also recommend the Startech nes. You will also need an 80 ide cable!

Yes, honestly I don't know about how good or bad chinese adaptors are in reality. All I know is that my shipment is taking 3 weeks now, and the shipment is stuck. Thing is, its better to buy locally if you can, or through Amazon. I used Aliexpress, in summary is just better to stay away from anything that comes from China, it would be bad quality or it would take a VERY long time to arrive.

Cheers.
