I installed a 500gb Hdd and it shows it as only 120gb any response would be appreciated, thanks!
SS_Dave
Hi Matta Sounds like the bios is old and not setup for more than 137gig or the rest is G drive. So What Bios are you using? Cheers SS Dave
Matta
it is executer 2 also I dont have a g drive only f Edited August 16, 2019 by Matta
SS_Dave
What app are you using to look at the drives? and what version Xbox? My ver 1.6 displays G drive using XBMC and Boxplorer My ver 1.1 Dosn't display G drive but I have uploaded via FTP 40gig of games to G drive and they come up in the games list. Something else for me to look at as too why on one box and not the other it could be the version of BIOS. I am sure that I have used ver 4981.67 but iI may be wrong. Matta
I was using XBPartitioner 1.3 and its a 1.0 I think.
SS_Dave
When you load XBPartitioner do you get screen like this Or this screen Both pics where taken from my 500 gig testing Xbox You could try and pressing start and see what happens but remember you will more than likely lose every thing on the hard disk. As the picks below show the same xbox above has got full use of the drive with G drive taking the remainilng space remember there are games installed on F and G Drives. KaosEngineer
What version is the kernel? There are many different X2 BIOS / Kernel releases. Each has a different number assigned. I believe 4979, 4981, 4983 are the last three (256KB sized X2 BIOSes). There are many before these. And, the latest 512KB release is 5035. Depending which dashboard and skin setup yo may see if on the dashboard screen. If not, go into the replacement dashboards settings page(s) to find it. Kernel version: 1.0.KKKK.NN
Matta
I get that warning screen and also how to I get to the replacement dashboards page?

You need to update your bios. Do you have a chip or tsop? Update your bios using the latest version of hexen. flash a bios which allows F & G partitions

SS_Dave
Hi Matta Mr Google has no info on the mod chip "flash xx chip" Could you please download this https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ui199ic06tuf1s/BiosChecker_v50.zip?dl=0 It's a BIOS checking prg for the Xbox Then unzip then copy to your xbox then run it. Then let me know what it displays. Also do you have a Hexens disk if not download it from the download section here that will ned to be burned to a DVD. When burning any disks to be used in a Xbox burn them as slow as your burning software will allow. Cheers SS Dave

Matta
I already have a hexen disc and it is a nitro xx chip. It was the previous version of the smart xx. It is rare I presume. Also I put a picture of my mod chip from a while back. I am sorry I didnt mean flash. SS_Dave
I would guess that you are going to nead a serial lead and the corect software to reflash it. One way would be to do a TSOP flash and then remove the mod chip. SS Dave Edited August 17, 2019 by SS_Dave
SS_Dave
After looking a bit more if you have a old PC with a parallel port and can read german you could try this program. I tried to install on win10 but it chucked a wobbly and didn't install. BiosXX Flasher ver1.3 https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2zpudetcrucmar/BioXXFlasherV1_3.zip?dl=0 Manual in German https://www.dropbox.com/s/tfc87yqhp3e4eem/NitroXX_HB22.rar?dl=0 If was me Reflash the TSOP and sell the chip on line. Matta
I have no soildering experience. How hard would it be to remove the chip then tsop it?
SS_Dave
Hi Matta You could just unplug it and leave the rest there or small cutters would also work. Don't cut it out untill you have got you xbox booting from the on board BIOS. To put the links on the main board to enable flashing you can use conductive paint. Look in auto parts shops for rear dimster repair paint or your electronics parts supply shop for PCB repair paint. You need to link 2 spots 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom And the while you have the PCB out of the case you can remove the 25pin conector from the rear. Replace the borad in the case but leave the DVD drive out but still conected then boot HEXEN with the chip conected then once is running you can unplug the chip then using HEXEN you can flash the TSOP. If you want to try soldering get an old circuit board to practice on 1st. Don't be scared to ask questions I would rather you ask than damage a board as that just makes more work. Also if the pic you posted is from your mother board the clock cap looks like it's leaking and should be removed. Cheers SS Dave
Matta
the pic was of my mother board do i need to de soilder that too?
SS_Dave
You can just break it off the board with some wobbling it around or you can unsolder it it's up to you. This is a board that the cap was leaking so to prevent it leaking any more I just snapped ot of the board untill i get around to using it than i will clean it up and remove the leg thats left from the cap. Matta
Ok I got the capicitor out with no problems by wiggling it and tested the console and it works. But I did some reasearch and apparently I will have to "sharp tsop"
SS_Dave
After zooming in on the bios chip yes yoy do have a SHARP bios chip so you will need to solder a wire as in on of the pics I have posted so if your doing that you could solder the 2 TSOP enable points. Have a look here and then pratice on old PCB's car radios, computer cards,ETC ETC or take the board to a electronics repair tech and ask real nice to do the soldering for you. Some time a bribe with beers can help or at very least offer to pay, https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1854-when-you-have-damaged-your-pcb-while-trying-to-mod-it Good luck SS Dave

If so try a few other combinations and see what other bios you have, just remember how the switches are currently set. Have you tried using hexen to flash a newer bios? Matta
I have tried using it and no luck. But I can just practise on my other xbox. In case you wondering what scares me about soildering is my first xbox I tried to chip myself i fried the motherboard. I can practice on that board
SS_Dave
Yep you can practice on that if you want. Tools you should have and use. A fine tip soldering iron preferably temperature controlled. Thin solder 0.8mm or 0.7mm not lead free. Solder flux paste. Stuff that's in a syringe is good. Solder wick. It's used to remove excess solder. Small cutters and a sharp blade. Some thin wire. I and many others use wire wrap wire it's 0.25mm thick single strand. A magnifying glass and some good lighting. Isopropyl Alcohol or methylated spirits and old/new tooth brush for cleaning the PCB Follow instructions in the link I sent you before and when you think your ready to go live on your working Xbox go back to the old one and practice some more you just pick random points to solder wires to. If you look around the board there are pleanty of places to try linking like the TSOP enable points. Have a go at using the solder wick as well. Remember if your not sure if you have done the job right post a pic here before you power it up! Cheers SS Dave
