Nightkid
Hello guys, hope you are all fine i am here for some help from you guys in terms of my old xbox from 2003. It has a modchip see below Picture from the complete mainboard As far as i see it runs an old xecuter 2 bios with evolutionX dashboard. I replaced the capacitor for the clock and the thermal paste already, but i wanted to upgrade the 100GB IDE HDD to a bigger one. Saw that there is the cerbios bios, which is currently the way to go. I am familiar with modding/flashing consoles, but never did something on the OG xbox. So my question is, which bios, installer cd ect. i need to flash this xbox. Also question from my side, i heard that upgrading to an S-ATA makes the xbox sometimes freezing, is that true? Thank you very much Edited November 9, 2024 by Nightkid
Petrolhead
Hi there. There are several tutorials here about that. Cant see much of the modchip (except the flash chip) There always a risk to upgrade to Cerbios on that chip (could be a shitty China clone, that not allowing it to be upgraded throu the Xbox) If you have a programmer that could flash those chips, you can always buy a single one and try it out. (Im not an expert on X2's) About ide2sata, you need an adapter + 80pin cable to get it working. (Never got my boxes to freeze)

Nightkid
Tried today to flash it using the ogxbox cerbios disc (latest one) and the only one which worked was the evoxFlasher. But it got stuck at half (erasing) and it was clear, bios got bricked on the modchip. Need to find now a way how to reflash that chip externally. There is a few ways to flash it, i have a Xgecu flasher, there should be cheaper once to purchase. You will get it to work (dont feel bad about it) i told you about cheap chinese copies. I only have pre-flashed SST49LF080A chip XBlast/Cerbios 2.4.2.
Nightkid
Thanks for the words, i appreciate it. I googled the Xgecu flasher, but it is pretty pricey for maybe once in a life using. Is there some source to get pre flashed cerbios chips? Petrolhead
@PRince404 mentioned something about rp2040 (I have no information about that)

Search eBay for the NANO BIOS Programmer. The base model is all you need to reprogram the SST49LF020. $23.99 + $9.80 shipping from South Korea to the US. KaosEngineer
Install a different modchip. The RP2040-based modchip is SHALX's ModXO. It is built around a Raspberry Pi PICO or RP2040 Zero. For more information on the ModXO, visit Team Resurgent's GitHub repository: https://github.com/Team-Resurgent/Modxo/ 1

Nightkid
Will get my hands on an openxenium chip, which i can get nearby. Installing it by myself should be no problem and i can access it then via ethernet and flash the bios then.

Nightkid
did not want to start a new thread, but i have a little issue since some time. On 480p via an kaico hdmi adapter, i get some static noise out of the tv speakers, sound like a small air jet. When i play on 720p soul calibur2 there is no noise, also there is no background noise in the prometheos OS (720p). In my opinion this could be the hdmi adapter maybe? Not sure if this is caused by bad capacitors (look fine for me from the top) Edited November 19, 2024 by Nightkid
Nightkid
As i maybe have known, the culprit was the kaico adapter. Was pretty hard to get the official xbox high def AV box in my region. But setting this up with new cables worked wonder, crystal clear sound at 480p finally.

A lot to be said for the Official Xbox High Def kit. No interference probs and a picture quality supreme and nearly as good as the internal HDMI HD+ without the grief.
