Buy literally any SATA hard drive, a startech IDE2SAT adapter, and an 80-wire 40-pin ide cable. That’s what’s required. The cheap adapters work too but they’re a bit harder to start with and occasionally nuke your drive because the QC on them sucks How you do it depends on whether you use a softmod or a TSOP/Chip to boot a modified bios. Ging3rguy
How your system is setup will dictate how you setup your larger hdd. if you have a hard mod you can just drop in the larger hdd and just build it with hexen and there is no need to lock the drive. With a soft mod you will need to use something like chimp and remember to lock the drive. if you want a really large drive it will have to be a sata drive but there’s no point getting anything bigger than a 2tb. if you want anything up to about 750gb you should still be able to find a pata drive. the advantage of pata is boot time, the disadvantage is they are getting old and cronky. Shrek76
IDE drives are also quite hard to find, whereas SATA drives are readily available. A bit more work involved in upgrading your drive but that's part of the fun
