Diy XErc2 Ir-Mod Files

Since the Sickmods site has vanished i thought it might be worth saving the information from there open source projects.

Having a backup of the user manual, source code and the shematic can't hurt. So here are the files for anyone who wants to build a couple Xerc2s.

And for anyone who wants to build them i uploaded my panelized Layout here: Xerc2 Panelized

Have fun building and using the Xerc2 ir mod! :)

I added the link so people can order my Design if they wan‘t to but i‘m not really interested in putting out the Gerber files.

You can of course design your own boards and order wherever you want. This is just an offer. And ~160 Xerc2 boards per order is a lifetime supply anyway. Your decision ;)

@N64 freak, you removed your design from dirtypcbs.com?

@TEK Nemesis No the design should still be there. Just added my front underglow led stripes so it might have been temporily unavaylable while i uploaded the other file.

Should work fine now i just tested the link!

There's now also a Panel full of 1.6 LPC rebuild PCBs and the mentioned front underglow PCBs for anyone interested.

Any chance the PulseVU got saved as well?

I attached some schematics. If you need anything else let me know and I might have it or be able to find it for you.  I don't think I have any board files, though I did see an OSHpark version floating around a while back so someone must have them.

Hope these help someone.

Yeah, that's the problem no one seems to have backed up the source files from http://svn.sickmods.net/.

The Wayback Machine has the directory listing and a couple of the files, pulsevu2.aps and startuptest.c, but not all of the files listed below:

pulsevu2 - Revision 2: /

Powered by Subversion version 1.5.1 (r32289).

or the builds/ files (only the listing of the files) or the scilab/ files (nothing captured):

pulsevu2 - Revision 2: /builds

Powered by Subversion version 1.5.1 (r32289).

What kind of components do I need?

U1 = ATTINY 85-20 SU?
MMBT3906 = MMBT3906 SOT32?
R1,2,4 = 10kOhm but what size? 0603?
R3 = 100 Ohm but what size? 0603?
C1= 4.7uF but what size? 0603? I assume 6.3V would be enough?
C2 = 0.1uF but what size? 0603? 6.3V?
D1 = ??? couldn't find that in the original schematic

Not sure about the packages used in the gerbers, but I think that the diode D1 is a 1N4148 as seen on this OGXbox post. It allows the xerc to be connected to the ir receiver in the xbox dvd playback kit.

thanks, so I guess if I don't solder up the IR receiver from the USB port, I don't actually need that diode.

But I guess I can use the spare IR Receiver I have to salvage the IR unit and wire it directly to IR+/-/d - I just need to figure out which leg is which :D

has anyone built one of these? I just programmed the attiny, I built the board and connected it to the xbox.

WHen I plug the xbox into the wall, I get the pulsing LED which tells me the system is working. However, I can not get the xbox to power on using the remote. When I enter programming mode, the LED also never flashes.

I've tried two different IR receivers (I desoldered the one from the xbox DVD playback kit and another one from a RC6 receiver I used back in the day.) with the same result.

any ideas what might be wrong?
