Hd Game Mods

Recommended Posts

I've heard tale of there being some mods that can be added to some games that changes the resolution they are rendered in.

Googling xbox hd mods yields very cluttered results of course so perhaps someone can steer me in the right direction?

I'm using a softmodded xbox with unleash. it doesn't have any extra ram or cpu so I understand this will cost some performance to do.

Many Xbox games run at 480p others 720p and a very few at 1080i (not recommended to enable 1080i).

To play any game at a higher resolution than 480i, you have to use a high-definition AV pack or component cable.  Once connected, the higher resolutions can be enabled in the MS Dashboard's Video Settings menu.

If you have a PAL console, it has to be modded and switched to NTSC mode as the higher-resolutions are not available when operating in PAL video mode.

@KaosEngineer I seem to have many HDD games which runs only in 480i (with everything correctly connected (component cable) and configured (higher resolutions enabled + Enigmah Switch), other games work fine in 480p or even 720p), does this mean they are not patched to run in 480p or that they are not even compatible with 480p ?

Are the games the PAL version or NTSC version?  I don't have a PAL system in the States.

I'm not sure if that matters though.  From what I understand, there are some PAL games that only run in PAL mode - low resolution 480i or 576i not any progressive mode once switched to NTSC mode. But, again I have no PAL console to try so don't take my word for it.

PAL system

isn't the eeprom data the only difference between regions? if we don't talk about the power supply.

Yes, although some devs added there own region checks. So some games will only work in PAL or NTSC video modes. Timesplitters 2 is one of those games.

99% of the Xbox collection work in 480p only a few (more than 10) require a hex edit to force/auto select the 480p flag. Some games require a different patch to the video mode flag, but it’s the same situation, patch and it’s now forced 480p.

Alternatively if softmodded you can just force 480p at the kernel level and if hardmodded flash a patched bios with 480p forced.

Difficult to say it's not "my" games.... And to complicate matters my console is PAL but forced in NTSC so ...

I bought a 500gb Xbox fully loaded with origins dashboard and games - one game (GTA San Andreas) appears on “featured games” but when I press A the console resets - how do I delete it from appearing in “Featured Games” - or could I add the game somehow as I have the disk?  Thanks

If no one had seen this yet, just yesterday Modern Vintage Gamer released a game called FreeFall 3050AD for the OG Xbox, which he helped finishing after 15 years being lost!

The links to the game are in the Youtube video below! This is really wonderful

      Guys,

I need to know if you can transfer saves with no issues after you upgrade your HDD, is this possible? I want to upgrade my HDD using Chimp (but I have to wait for my Sata to IDE adaptor to arrive).
I have access to FTP the files over ethernet, so that is no problem for me, but, would the saves work on the new HDD??

My eeprom.bin has been nulled already by following Mr. Marios tutorial on Youtube by the way.

Please let me know what you guys know please! Thank you all!
