Hi,

I want to get back into making custom x2 4981 bios's but need the XBOX TEXT.3ds file as mentioned in the screen grab below (x-projects.org is long gone).

I know I could use a newer bios but I liked messing with this particular one and having everything on the tsop rather than having a config file on the hdd.

If anyone has it could you please PM me? I have 3ds max and deep exploration but I can't find this, any help or links appreciated :)

Unfortunately you don't seem to have the XBOX TEXT.3ds template I'm after. I did check all folders.

I don't want to use X2 5XXX bios's, I want to modify an X2 4981 bios and package the changes within the bios, no config file (i prefer to have everything on tsop). I'm going to replace the XBOX text on the splash screen with different text. It's a 3d wireframe model hence me needing the template file.

Thanks anyway

Okay, I've been looking for this holy grail of Xbox BIOS modding files too - XBOX TEXT.3ds from x-projects.org without any luck.  The Wayback Machine did not seem to archive it.

However, today I was looking at the Wayback Machine's saved content from www.kernelbase.com and xfiles.kernelbase.com and happened to click on one of the links on the pages captured and low and behold some files downloaded that I'd not been able to locate there before.

I created and attached one large archive file with all of the files that I was able to download:

Note: The 3DS Template in the template archives is not named XBOX TEXT.3DS each version's file is a bit differently named but all end in dot max, not dot 3ds.  The version 6 template file is named XBOXTEXT.max.

I think I figured out what request?25 was

The source code to KernelBasher.  It required Site Membership to download the file.  Without an account on their site, you'd not have the correct permissions to download the file.

Release of KernelBasher source code

To keep with the rules of the GPL licence, we are releasing the source code for V1 of Kernelbasher.

Download for site members only (Sorry) - http://www.kernelbase.com/download.php?view.25

Source: http://web.archive.org/web/20041204013142/http://www.kernelbase.com/news.php

Not sure why they restricted downloads as it's to be GPL'd source code.

So I figured it out in the end, kind of protracted but it seems to have worked:

Basically I followed the tutorial up to opening the .dxf in deep exploration then saved the .dxf to usb within the VM, copied it to my Win 10 desktop and opened it in deep exploration (installed on my Win 10 pc obviously).

Followed the rest of the tutorial from there apart from using flubber text tool (I used kernelbasher v1.2 instead as it is the same thing but with more options) and now have a flubbered.bin 256kb x2 4983.67 bios with the XBOX text modified to say DEMON (in red) and red X, red fog, random geometry, etc. Now just need to get a cheap modchip to test it out with as I don't want to flash it to tsop just incase it's not good 🤨 Anyone selling an aladdin in the UK?

OK i've run into a problem and i'm struggling to resolve it.

When i export the text mesh and open it in deep exploration the model is skewed so when i inject the text.x into the bios it's skewed also.

Anyone know how to resolve it? It looks like it's on the right axis in 3dsmax (see screenshot showing 3dsmax below, deep exploration on the left and how it should look in deep exploration according to the tutorial on the right).

Any help much appreciated
