The art from the installer doesn't have the Xbox logo across the top.

DOAU1 used to have an xbox banner afaik but the art seems to have changed. DOAU2 with a banner can be grabbed from my art thread.

I will make a new DOAU1 set with a banner later on today and add it to my thread :)

Will fix, didn’t realise that

I noticed some unreleased/unlicensed games do not have artwork: ATV 3 LawlessSmash Out, Trailblazer.  At one time it looks like the Artwork was part of this pack:

The only one that was in that pack was ATV Lawless.  The art sets in that pack were missing a lot of the styles required for a full resources pack and some were also of questionable quality. The official art installer has much better quality art in it, that s is why I took down the files. I will go back and remove the link from that thread now.

I can remake the art for those three games and add them to my artwork thread on this forum, if you want to do some of the leg work and can find me some decent images, logos, etc to build from that would be perfect.....  :)

Thanks for looking in the pack to see if those games were there.  In the post PsyKos had on the xbmc4xbox.org forum those games were listed as being in the artwork pack so I thought it would be easy to pull them out and add them.  Of course nothing is as easy as you think its going to be.

I have the ATV Lawless art from that pack, It is not great Quality and is missing a lot of art to make it a full pack. I can link you to it if you like but I would rather make a new complete resources set for the game.

Ok I finally ran the 3.2 offline installer for emulators.  If I run the installer manually the artwork installed is not right.  I choose artwork for Atari 7800 it installs Amstrad CPC artwork.  I choose Intellivision it installs Atari 5200 artwork.  I choose MSX it installs Intellivision.  This pattern repeats with other emulators with wrong artwork being installed.   I looked at the _resources.zip files in Artwork Installer/System/scripts/Artwork/Emulators and the _resources.zip files themselves are correct.  The problem seems to be Artwork installer going to the wrong location in manual mode and installing the wrong artwork.  I also tried the online installer in manual mode and it works fine for the emulators.

Edit:  When I get to the bottom of the alphabet on the emulators like xboyadvance and Z26x it no longer installs artwork, instead there is an error that reads "error  select a valid directory"

I believe these errors maybe caused by title ids being shared? Homebrew and emulators have no truly organised structure for title ids, its a bit of a free for all tbh. This can cause and does cause issues when running the art installer. Rocky5 has done everything he can to mitigate these issues but unfortunately they will still happen on occasion.

I installed all my emulator/app art manually over FTP without using the installer as I used my custom art as well as official and that made sure everything was correct.

The pack attached on the first post is a direct dump of what is downloaded from the Downloader on XBMC4Gamers, nothing has been changed so its likely you would get the same errors downloading it and running it there.

There is now a fully online version that doesn't require the entire pack to be downloaded to the console before install, it scans for content and then downloads what it needs as it goes along, installing as it goes. Try that if you can and see if you get the same errors. You will need to make sure that your XBMC4Gamers install is up to date to use it.

I installed artwork installer 3.2 right from the XBMC4Gamers downloader and I installed from the link in this thread.  In both cases the artwork is messed up when done manually.  The issue is not from where the offline artwork installer was downloaded.  The issue is with the 3.2 offline installer itself.  Since this thread announced the new rollout of artwork installer 3.2 including your artwork contributions, I posted in this thread the problems with the installer.  While I certainly understand not being able to get all the artwork right on an automatic scan, I would think if someone told artwork installer they wanted specific artwork installed to a specific folder and it installed wrong artwork, there is an issue in the way the artwork installer is processing the install.  This question would be more directed to Rocky5 since he created the installer.  I also want to point out the online version doesnt seem to have a problem with manual installation of emulator artwork so something is wonky with the way the offline installer is handling the installation

In that case it definitely sounds like there is an issue. I would post in the bugs thread as that will get Rockys eyes on it sooner.

If you can give as much info as you can it will help to diagnose the issue quicker. I am going to delete some art from my system and test it out later and see if I have the same issues.

I thought about posting this in the bugs thread but since we were talking about the new 3.2 installer I wanted to see if anybody else had this issue installing the artwork for the emulators manually before I reported it as a bug.  It could be something I am doing causing this.   I have a second Xbox I was able to test.  Although it didnt have as many wrong artwork installs, it did install NES artwork for Lynx and Lynx artwork for NES.  It also installed Atari 2600 artwork for Gameboy Advance.

To get these errors, I downloaded artwork installer 3.2 from the XBMC4Gamers downloader, ran it and then installed the 03/09/2024 update.  Since I didnt want to mess up the artwork for emulators on this second Xbox, I renamed the emulators folder on the F: partition to emulators2 so artwork installer wouldnt scan this folder.  I then created a new folder named emulators that would be scanned where I FTPed all the latest updated emulators Madmab released a few months ago + a few others, 35 in total.  I then did an automatic scan with artwork installer.  After the automatic scan finished I went back to manually add all the artwork the automatic scan missed.  Having finished the artwork install I tried launching some emulators from the XBMC4Gamers emulator section and noticed the wrong artwork.

By chance are your emulator folders a mix of uppercase and loadercase names?

I disabled the rename code in the latest update, as normally I rename all folders to title casing but 1 user had an issue with his folders being renamed (even though it doesn’t do anything) so I disabled it.

Rename any that start with lowercase to uppercase. And see if that makes a difference.

python treats uppercase before lowercase and how xbmcs lists work is they are stored as ints internally and the lists labels can be in a different order if casing differs. (This is why I renamed them now 😂🙈 was trying to workout why I did that) so when you select something it can be out of order as the internal ID is different from the label position due to the list being sorted.

So neogeo folder could be throwing it off for example.

Changing the beginning letter of each folder to uppercase fixed the issue with the wrong artwork being installed in manual mode.    All artwork is correct

On a different note not related to incorrect installs, I would like to suggest changing the title in the default.xml to the system being emulated and not the name of the emulator itself for the new artwork adds.  Most of the artwork in Artwork Installer 3.1 was named according to what system was being emulated such as Atari 2600, Gameboy Advance, Sega Genesis, etc... Many of the new artwork adds list the emulator as the title.  The Amiga CD32 shows up as WINUAEX CD32.  PC-98 shows up as NEKO PROJECT 2x.  Vectrex shows as MessTrex - GCE Vectrex Emulator.  Classic99X -Texas Instruments 99 Emulator is the title instead of Texas Instruments TI-99/4A.   There is no continuity with the other artwork in how the new artwork is named.

You can rename anything to your liking directly on the console. Hover over the item you wish to rename, push the white button and select rename. This would be one of those situations where Rocky cant please everyone all the time. Some people would want them named after the emulated system and others would want the actual name of the app.

Ok I know why online installer doesn’t have the issue. Was a mistake on my part.

manual installer should be this.

Quote

Incorrect:
GameFolderContent = dialog.select("SELECTED ARTWORK\n{}".format(Game_Folder.upper()),sorted([x.upper() for x in listdir(GameDirectory)]))

Correct:
GameFolderContent = dialog.select("SELECTED ARTWORK\n{}".format(Game_Folder.upper()),[x.upper() for x in sorted(listdir(GameDirectory))])

If I still had access to Excel, I would do that, but my trial expired. I did what I could with what time it gave. It never occurred to me that others would want the official name, that's a good idea. I would just have to swap the names. It would take too much time doing all 72 manually in Notepad, sorry. If you want to pm me, I can walk you through modifying your xml's manually. It's very easy.

I wouldn't worry about it tbf. Like I said some people will want it one way and others will want the other. I actually like the app name rather than "SNES", "Genesis" etc. It's super easy for people to change in dash with the white button anyway. Either that or they can do it manually in the default.xls.
