Xbox 1.6 Open Xenium and HDMI mod No Video

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to the community for some help. Long story 

I had a working HDMI mod with Open xenium on an Xbox. I wanted to try the ram upgrade. I had the Hynix ram stock, tried to replace them with Samsung, ram error and could not get that board to work again.

I used a working spare board from my stock Xbox and just brought the open xenium and Makemhz HDMI over. I rebuilt the LPC using Amtech flux and my hakko soldering iron with my Kester ledded solder. I get great joints with these in combination and using an amscope for seeing what I'm doing. 

A mistake I think I made because it's been awhile, I removed the AV port and did both the LPC rebuild for the open xenium and HDMI board at the same time. Like I said it's been awhile and I may just need to patch the bios right? Problem is I am getting solid green on the chip and HDMI board (btw I used a new flex cable and use precision micro soldering pen to get those joins solid. I tested with a multimeter getting continuity and 33 ohms across each. No bridging or issues I can see under the scope with the ribbon cable, connector or the packages. 

I rebuilt the lpc again and still persists. One issue I should be honest and mention is the pin I took out for the lpc pins second one on the back left (was on some install guides to remove the pin). The hole pan was burnt off. Completely my mistake had the iron temp set way too high for another project. The trace going from that to a via on the front side of the board had been disconnected. That via goes to the back of the board but then it goes to the lpc where the pin is missing anyways. Basically I don't know if this is the issue. I am not getting a short that I can tell. 

Do I need to reflash my open xenium since it was working and setup on the old Xbox or is the issue that disconnected trace from the burnt out hole to the via, or is it something else potentially, can I test something with my multimeter? Do I just need to somehow patch the bios. Idk how now with the old av port missing. 

Audio works when I disconnect the open xenium but no video. I tried my testbench HDMI monitor. I tested my crt with an adapter that adjusts an HDMI signal to be adapted to composite. I tested on my TV upstairs and computer monitor with three good known working HDMI cables. I get no video when xenium is plugged in. 

I get no frag and can't see anything under the scope or infrared camera for chips going bad like the encoder. I've attached a short video showing the status of the lights.

You must use Hynix RAM on a v1.6b motherboards.  Hynix RAM access timings are different than those of Samsung memory chips.

Totally makes sense now. This board is a new 1.6 board (not a 1.6b). The old board (not the one I'm mentioning in the post) I tried swapping the ram for that old one and got the error so I thought damn Ill just use the my stock 1.6 and remove the HDMI from the 1.6b and bring over to the 1.6 board and also rebuild the LPC with the open xenium.

Thanks for the clarification. Another forum topic thread thought you could just swap the chips and I was sceptical but tried it anyways. I may be able to swap back the old ram and put back the HDMI board and xenium if I can get the old ram soldered back to the other one.

I also tried the Aladdin XT mod but that Fragged with the cut trace. I repaired the trace and now it's back where it was 1.6 board with HDMI board and open xenium (previously on the 1.6b board)

Sorry this probably seems confusing lol

Kudos for having the patience and resolve necessary to do all those mods over again. That's some intense soldering. Lol.

Thanks. I'm a mad man lol. I really enjoy it. I used to mod ps1 consoles back in high school and just got back into it during the pandemic when I dusted off my consoles from storage. Started with my trusty Weller from HS and moved up to the Hakko FX-951 system amongst other tools and trying different methods. Tronicsfix, adrian's digital basement, Louis Rossmann, Northridge Fix, and Great Scott!-amongst others have peaked my interest and encouraged me to learn more. Problem is I have a tendency to not throw away or recycle as much these days ("I might be able to fix it why not in the bin of endless projects you go lil clock!" Lol)

I suppose this project is just one of those challenges I want to learn from and just more experience is how I see it.

I'm the same way. I just got a used vcr that's the same one my family had when I was a kid because I want to fix it and be nostalgic. I don't want it to die... Lol.

Ps1 mod was my first mod when I was 10 or so. My dad helped me. 4 simple wires or so soldering the IC to the board and I thought it was magical.

I was able to get this working with a new open xenium. I tried to take the old xenium from an already modded Xbox and just hope it worked. With the new one no issues to report now.
