NooB
So I tried to softmod my Xbox and accidentally Unlocked my HDD thinking that would make possible to install a bigger HDD, so now i keep on getting Error 5. Can anybody give this noob some advice???
ecstone
Did you backup the EEPROM during the softmod? Most softmod tools either automatically do this or tell you to do this. If the EEPROM is backed up you can connect the drive to a PC since it is unlocked and then you can fix any software issues and re-lock the drive to work in the Xbox again. NooB
@ecstone Main question i should've ask is when you say connect the Xbox HDD to the PC (which has Sata Ports)? I bought a SATA to IDE connector and nothing happens.
ecstone
I don't know if the hard drive you are using is SATA or IDE but if you have the right connection in your PC you will be able to plug it in. You will need to download a copy of XboxHDM (or XboxHDM 2.2 USB if you connected the hard drive with a USB adapter), then burn that to a disc and boot the PC off of it. It has the tools to enable you to lock the hard drive again.
Magicaldave
@NooB check this out, https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/using-xboxhdm-updated-2018.1902/ has a pretty good write up on using xboxhdm to rebuild a drive from scratch. You might need need to use xplorer360 to find the eeprom.bin on your Xbox drive... make sure you do NOT format or do anything funky with the drive when connected to your pc. https://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/manage_external_devices/xplorer360.cfm will allow you to browse the FatX drive like you would any other. Not sure where your EEPROM.BIN would be as it depends on what installer you used.
