  1. I recently tried to softmod my old xbox and bricked the hdd due to not ejecting the game disc in the end of the installation process. Now the dashboard is gone and I can't even boot retail games using the machine. I just bought an xbox with a modchip (xecuter 2) and I'm wondering if I could swap the hdd in the modded xbox with the bricked xbox and install the ms dashboard from a disc.
  2. Just a theoretical pondering as I could not find any info on it. I know you can null a HDD key on a soft mod’d xbox so I was wondering if it was possible to null and lock a hdd using a tsopd xbox then transfer it into the soft mod’d xbox? Cheers
  3. As above I was wondering what the power requirements of the US Xbox was? I have a US xbox arriving in the next few days and was wondering what voltage and power requirements it has. I have a 100v 100VA transformer I use for my Japanese hardware but I dont know if it would be to low to run a US system? If I need 110-120v I can buy another transformer but will need to know the current/wattage as most of them are fairly low without buying a bulky one! long term I intend on swapping out the PSU inside the console with a UK one but I need to find one first! cheers.
  4. Quick question I am finding difficult to search online. Like most, I mainly play games directly from the hard drive, but do occasionally like to play my games on disc. I am wondering if there is an application out there that gives you the option of disabling the dvd drive on startup? I want to keep my dvd drive alive for as long as possible, and I cringe everytime I boot the Xbox and the laser searches for a disc that isn't there. It seems I am just degrading the lifetime of the drive that way. If I can disable the drive when I am not using it, I bet I would be able to squeeze more life out of it. Thanks!
  5. I just received an Xbox I bought from eBay really cheap which I was planning to use as spares. ive just cracked it open, and wow. So clean. Hardly any dust, no pitting of steel, Capacitor leaks (I’ll still remove clock anyways). i May even switch my main drive etc over to this one and softmod it Is this a 1.2? Date on sticker says 2003-08-15. Shame it’s a Thompson drive, but it still works.
  6. I don't see any reasons why it shouldn't but I was thinking about buying one
  7. Hello, I upgraded my chipped 1.6 Xbox 120GB hard drive to a 2TB... since I opened the Xbox I took the opportunity to clean it... the Xbox is chipped with a Matrix chip and it has the Xecuter 2 bios (15 years old)... I would like to know if there's a way for softmoding the Xbox and taking out the chip. I do not have the original hard drive. The reason is that after so many years it looks like the chip is kind of bending up and the pogo pins contact with the motherboard are not as good as before... thank you in advance for your help! next step is test a more modern dashboard as I have been using the UIX dashboard because it looked like the original Xbox dashboard... I thing I want to test XBMC4Gamers. What the difference between XBMC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation? THANK YOU and have a good day! Gerry
  8. Is there a way, to copy files from one Xbox to another, without the need to FTP? Seems to me like I’ve done it in XBMC before, bu I don’t remember.
  9. Hi! I’ve recently bought and repaired a (very rusty and water damaged) Xbox. After cleaning it up, removing the clock cap and galvanizing, painting and taping the RF shield I chipped it with an Aladdin 4032 mod chip. Now that my wife is sufficiently annoyed with me spending a lot of time on this, is there an easy way to TSOP flash my v1.1 Xbox without removing my mod chip? I want to get it done now in case the mod chip fails in the future. The original hard drive is very much worthless as is the original DVD drive. I booted Hexen using a PC dvd drive just fine after chipping it. I just want to make sure I’ll be able to use any hard drive in it without the mod chip in case it breaks.
  10. I picked up a particularly grotty and smelly xbox the other day - I bought it because I thought the case might be in mint condition underneath the layer of dirt and I was right. I washed the case with fairy liquid (dishwater detergent) and a microfibre cloth but although the plastic casing looks clean it isn't - I ran a baby wipe over a tiny section of the case and it was brown. Same result when I used a baby wipe on the inside of the case - brown residue inside the case as well. Is there any special paste I should make? Could I make a baking power and vinegar paste? The reason I'm reluctant to try these is I'm afraid I'll damage the case - any one any tips on how to get rid of the brown residue. Thanks in advance.
  11. A friend of mine setup my softmodded xbox hard drive with emulators, games etc and a cool dashboard - I'm just wondering how to clone the drive in order to use it in my spare xbox - I can unlock the drive in HDM V1.9 and there seems to be an option to clone a hard drive in HMD V1.9 as well - anyone tried this or is there another way without TSOP or chipped console? Thanks
  12. I have a crazy xbox that I can’t mod properly- it’s a 1.6 - everything is in working order. it’s one I found in my attic last night - my only note on it was crazy Xbox so I can’t remember what’s wrong with it. I thought a fresh start might do it good so since it was already softmodded I used the eeprom to build a new hard drive in HDM v1.9. I successfully made the drive - plugged it in and sure enough it was box fresh. ithen copies over the Sid installer files and Splinter cell game save - these worked and took me to the softmodded menu. I backed up the EEPROM and MS Dash. When I tried single boot install - it started but suddenly the Splintercell game started to load up and duly took me back to the main menu of the game where Linux appears. i rebooted the game and tried dual boot softmod - this time I got a batch fail message and not it has error 13 when I boot the console - not bothered as I’ll just remake the hard disk or stick the original softmodded gard disk back in. my intention was to softmod it with SID and Splinter Celland then put the Rocky 5 softmod on it - but I never got that far - this method has worked on my other 3 consoles over the past month as I updated them all to Rocky softmod. anyond shed any light on why the softmod stopped in Progress? Like I said I always thought the craziness came from s poorly softmodded hard dive - that’s why I build a fresh one - but it seems to be something else.
