  1. This site is free. There are no nor will there ever be any pay walls to use this site in the way it is intended. The site is about a free exchange of information about modding and collecting for the Original Xbox. Really it's just a place for people who love that aging piece of hardware and have fond memories of it. It's not a site to supply you with downloads. With that said, it does have some... and you can gain access to them with time. Basically we don't want people joining just for downloads. We want people to take part in the community and exchange information with others about the Xbox. Some people have information that will be lost to time if we don't capture it and preserve it here. So if you're here just for downloads, those can ALL be found elsewhere fairly easily. Hosting and bandwidth are expensive, so we won't open downloads up to everyone on their first day. That will cause overage charges to us that we would very much like to avoid. If you MUST download from here today, there is an option but it is not what we are trying to push you to do. We would rather you take part and be an active member. We provide memberships for people to support the site which offsets some of the hosting costs.
  2. Hey Why is the new cerbios - bios named "hybrid" and is it safe to flash to the aladin chip Reg Finn
  3. I recently bought a "working" stock v1.0 with a duke controller off Ebay, but turns out the seller's head is empty because they shipped it with zero padding and it now FRAGs, awesome. The thing is, it came with an HD AV pack which looks like it goes for a good bit more than what I paid. So, is this a win/resell or what? Not sure the console is too good for parts.
  4. My main gaming system is a green Halo xbox I bought maybe a year ago off ebay - it was in great condition and had never been opened before I got it. When I removed the case to clean it out I found the motherboard is a 1.4 revision with a gold clock capacitor. I remember reading online this is a high quality capacitor Microsoft switched to after they realized the cheap ones were failing. Does anyone here have any more information on this? Pics attached I took today.
  5. Hello, sorry for nagging you, but I am really don't know much about the og xbox modding stuff... My problem is, I have 3 og xbox, two of them working great, and 1 can't play two important games, everything else working great. Forza motorsport, and Counter-strike. When I launch them it gives me a black screen on my main xbox, in CS I can hear the background music as well. On my other 2 xboxes they can run these games without a problem. The only differences I can see with my newbie eyes are the "faulty" xbox has XMBC dashboard, while the others have that regular one, unleashx or evox (I can't really tell the differences), but would be the problem only this? I know the 2 working one is hardware modded, at least this is what I requested when I sent it to the service, the other, well, I don't remember seeing a chip inside, maybe tsoped, or softmodded. Oh and the xbox that doesnt run the games is a 1.0 xbox I guess, I mean it has a fan on the gpu, only the 1.0 had it, right? And among the working ones one is 1.6, the other I dont know. So that is all the hints I can give to you, but I am all ears what should I look for to post here, to be able to solve the mysteri. Oh, and I would like to mention a couple things I read about this black screen, one is a problem solve for others, but not for me: "Load up MSdash and switch language to any other. Then switch off and on again and go back to ms dash and select original language. Then restart with Forza. Worked for me first time with HDD and DVD backups" --> I could not step into the original MSdash, tried it switching inside XMBC, didn't work. An other post that I can't find now was about EEPROM and that I should disable something called "xbox persistent softmod", but I can't find any option like that to set... Thanks!
  6. I'm getting horrible lag spikes that makes the system unplayable. I bought Mechwarrior. It plays fine off the disc. Zero problems. When I load it onto the HDD it is unplayable. It's the same with any game I load onto the HDD. Here is an example of the booting sequence into Mechwarrior, both with and without lag. Lagging boot: https://streamable.com/yohvt8 Normal boot: https://streamable.com/71a6ne The lag goes on throughout the game, particularly when heavy combat is involved. Halo is even worse. You can see from just the boot logo that the FPS is like 10. Why does this happen? I even noticed that when shutting the system completely off and powering it back on, the green xbox animation will lag at times. Watch the very end where it begins to stutter. Sometimes, however, it doesn't stutter at all. Lagging: https://streamable.com/vdoktf Normal: https://streamable.com/5220rt I read that the green Xbox animation at the very beginning is algorithmically driven (not off HDD or ROM), so if it is lagging what does that say about the xbox? Is it a cpu/gpu thing? After spending a few hundred $ getting this system up and running I couldn't be any more disappointed. Current specs:Xbox 1.62TB Seagate Barracuda: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2RR55Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 StarTech IDE/SATA adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOJNGC2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 24" 40-pin 80-Wire Ribbon Cable: https://www.ebay.com/itm/274553744014 Things I've tried: New 40 pin cable New HDD New SATA/IDE Adapter Putting old IDE HDD back in via 40 pin able (works with much less lag, but still noticeable) I'm at a loss and any/all help would be most welcome. Thank you, -R
  7. Why is it the ram and cpu upgrades on the original xbox are done. But those that do fail to upgrade the next most vital component in your console pcs. Upgrade you power supplies to a larger one to give the system better response time and a deeper well of wattage to pull from. Put an atx in there that has 2 12 v rails and make sure that board has all the power running to it efficiently a 80 or 90 % percent efficient 400 or 500 or 300 watt power supply will give you so many more options for cooling and give that mainboard all the power it needs to function better than ever. Also put low esr capacitors on the board or aluminum polymer capacitors that run at a lower frequenzy and run cooler for you system to truly modernize it. I see the cpu upgrade the ram upgrade, the firmware upgrade, the cosmetic upgrades, but no power upgrades, no capacitor component upgrades. Why are you people not doing this with your retro game consoles. Seriously why has no xbox with the formentioned upgrades that are common talked about not complimented with a larger power supply. And don't give me that crap about the system only uses so much power blah blah blah. That isn't true. A more efficient power supply and low esr capacitors will do wonders for you system. I did a power supply upgrade for the playstation 2 and i can tell you it works better than ever and i can put a 12v fan in it and still give the main board all the power it could ever need with a 180 watt imac power supply from an apple imac A1224 i have 3 for sale on ebay see them there nicely painted and perform better and have a big boy pc grounded 3 pin 110v-250v ac in plug. Also line filters Emi filters, get them there amazing.
  8. No output at all when connected via component, super dark red with scart.
  9. I've placed everything in the proper directories, or at least as instructed. Gentoox hangs on loading initrd24... the first file on the list, so it's not finding it... like it's in the wrong place. Pretty sure paths are correct in linuxconfig.
  10. I should have learned from my past mistake of trying to TSOP flash a V1.0.... I tried TSOP flashing a V1.4 this time. I triple checked my solder point for continuity at connected via's to insure my solder job was good. It checked out fine. I followed this tutorial to the letter as it's got the same Winbond TSOP and version as I, with the exception that I used Hexen 2018 and I think thewheelman282 uses an earlier Hexen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v+GjgIuvQWrgM (youtube search for How To: Xbox TSOP Flashing Explained -Part 2) I was able to reflash the TSOP and all seemed fine. I encounter differences then he had in his video. 1. After installing new flash, the box turned off, and when I restarted it, it went to the new unleashx dash, not booting to disc. D drive shows up in file explorer as 0kb size. I ejected and reinserted the disc and it populated the drive. So i went to file explorer and booted up the default.xbe of D drive to get back into Hexen. 2. Once there, I went to clean up the C drive from softmod. Upon doing so, the operation began. I walked away to do a 10 minute chore, and came back the xbox was off, which is different then in his video. Ok, so I ejected the disc to try to go back into Hexen, but now the eject and power button only fire up the HDD, no video output, no CD spinup and I have an orange flashing ring. Nothing else happens. I left things powered off for a good 10 minutes, and retried starting one more time. Now it boots up to the IND bios, and takes me to the TSOP'd unleashx dash. But if I try to get back to hexen to unlock the drive, again D drive is empty in explorer. I ejected the disc and put it back in and it autoloaded it. Now I'm getting a blank black screen and orange ring flash again. I tried waiting it out, but it went on for at least 10min before i turned things back off. At this point, I will NEVER TSOP flash again, NEVER NEVER NEVER! IT doesn't seem to boot any faster then a softmod, I'm convinced that (at least for me) a TSOP is not worth any effort that's involved with it, it's far more likely to break something, I'm done with anything but a softmod, there's enough PC stuff to handle HDD locks and unlocks, and I'd rather bash my head with that, then issues with TSOP's (and by extension hardmods/modchips). I tried once more. Now when the disc is ejected, the tray ejects and I go straight to a black screen with flashing orange ring. -How do I make sure the softmod is removed? -Should I unsolder the 2 points on the board I soldered? (R7D1 and R7D10) -Without Hexen loading, can the drive be unlocked safely/usable by way of PC and then reinstall it? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  11. I tried to transfer games from xbox1 to an other xbox2 through FTP, and there were some games that can't be transferred. Tried to copy to PC from xbox1 then send from PC to xbox2, same result. Xbox1 did not have problem transfering the files before, I tried with an other xbox(3), xbox3 did not have problem either recieving this game. What is wrong with xbox2? Xbox1 has 2tb hdd, just like xbox2, xbox3 has only 250 gb. I did not mod xbox1, but I did upgraded xbox2 to the 2 tb HDD. At first I could not make a G drive, I had to upgrade the BIOS with hexen2018, then I could create G drive. It did not say what kind of BIOS i am flashing, I just selected the 256kb flash, then went to the "1.6 and 1.6b" menu and selected (f and g) option. I tried with multiple FTP client, flashfxp, filezilla, total commander, same result. Tried with different FTP client on xbox2, xbmc, unleashx, hexen ftp, dvd2xbox, some game that had problem previously could be transferred with dvd2xbox ftp, but that one failed too. The game is called "Csi - Crime Scene Investigation" but I am sure there are lot more games that will have problem while transfering. When I try to transfer CSI some files goes through and some can't be transferred, and flashfxp says "[13:32:37] [R] CWD /F/Games/Csi - Crime Scene Investigation/DATA/English/Shared [13:32:37] [R] 553 "/F/Games/Csi - Crime Scene Investigation/DATA/English/Shared": Directory not found." What can be the problem? Bad BIOS? I read that that "evox m8 plus" is the way to go, I dont know if I have this one or not, but I also read that this bios itself is not good because it does not support LBA48, and has to be modded... Is there a download link for the modded "evox m8 plus" with lba48 patch? And how do I have to install that? Through hexen? Can I do it without burning dvd? Thanks Also, some game listed weird, in theory they are transferred completly, but some of them appears as blank folders, others with weird characters https://imgur.com/cV8gQWm https://imgur.com/jfoN2uE
  12. I bought an OG xbox and around 10 games. The discs play fine. Upon loading them to my HDD about 5 of them do this weird video flicker thing and are unplayable. I tried downloading the same 5 off of sites (isos and xbe format) and FTPing them and USBing them via FATXplorer. Nothing I do seems to work. https://streamable.com/92nl7k Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? Thank you.
  13. As it says in the title my Xbox is flashing orange for quite a while now like about 10 mins or so. Is this normal?
  14. Why do people like the hexen disk? I have a version 1.4 xbox with a Open Xenium with a Ind-5004.67 bios and a X2-5035.137 bios and that's set as the default boot bios For the test install I used a 2 tb hard drive 1st load the hexen 2020 disk and cold boot. 2nd use option 3 (TSOP Flashed,Modchiped) 3rd use Option 3.5 (Chipped) 4th option 3.5.3 (New disk NTSC) now enter a password (friggen stupid idea) now sit back and watch it install all sorts of files and folders including a folder called ''Delete Me "". Let Xbpartitioner 1.3 do it job and now I can reboot the Xbox without Hexen and it boots to unleash dash. Ok I wan't XBMC so load Hexen disk and use Install Applications then install XBMC, More files been installed and more Delete Me folder files! I also wanted XBMC4Gamers so I added that as as Application and the same Delete Me stuff. Reboot the Xbox without the Hexen disk and unleash opens now it now has a XBMC icon so press A to load XBMC and nothing it comes back to the unleash dash but it works if I run it from the apps folder and so does XBMC4Gamers. Now I really want XBMC4Gamers as the default dash so I loaded up the Hexen disk and used the option 5 Dashboard tools Then switch Switch dashboards option 5.1 and there is no XBMC4Gamers but XBMC will do for now so I set that as the default dash on E drive(that's also where I installed XBMC and XBMC4Gamers) And now reboot the Xbox without the Hexen Disk and it now locks up after the boot animation. And using the IND bios is the same it locks up at the white IND bios screen. Ok so lets load the hexen disk again and set the dash back to Unleash and reboot it now will boot to Unleash again. The Hexen disk is now out on the road some where after it was as a frisbee out the door. So now I load Slayer 2.7 and complete new large drive install and reboot FTP XBMC4Gamers to E drive and also FTP Xbpartitioner 1.3 to E drive Open file explorer to run Xbpartitioner 1.3 and Format F and G drives to 926.78 gb each FTP back to the Xbox and edit the X2config file on E drive to set xbmc4gamers on the E drive as the 1st boot dash Now reboot the Xbox and now I have XBMC4Gamers as the default dash and can set about copying me games and the like across. And this folks is why I love Hexen. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  15. I grabbed a Kernel file from this page and I flashed it with XBlastOS. Does the kernel have to match the original kernel? What is the kernel relative to the BIOS? Normally kernel and BIOS are two very different components of a computer. I shouldn't have been able to flash the TSOP with the kernel correct? How are those kernels meant to be used? I was looking for the default BIOS. Thanks
  16. I know people get really tired of hearing this debate, but I'd like to make my position as clear as possible once and for all. First and foremost: The reason the LPC exists on the Xbox motherboard is because the TSOP is soldered to the board blank, and programmed via the lpc port later in the manufacturing process. When the TSOP is blank, the xbox then looks to the LPC for a bios image to boot. This is because a pre-programmed rom is more expensive than a blank eeprom (TSOP in this case). It also allowed Microsoft to more easily update the bios image in new Xboxes for whatever reason. So we know that they would have to retool the LPC programming device if they disconnected some LPC points. This new tool would need to be incredibly fine because the point it needs to make contact with is no longer a nice big pad. Since nobody can find a 1.5, this retooling would have been for just a handful of motherboards. So they would have gone through this expense of retooling for such a tiny amount of boards it wouldn't have made any sense. Next, what exactly did the alleged 1.5 board prevent? It ONLY would slow down mod chip installation. I say slow down because any knucklehead with a DMM could figure out how to get it working again. It does absolutely nothing to stop soft modding or TSOP flashing. Why would Microsoft go to such an expense to stop only one method of modding the Xbox? I don't doubt that people have found LPC points that show no continuity. This could be because of the very programmer I mentioned at the beginning of this post. It could be due to trace rot. It could be due to operator error in measuring the components. Whatever the reason for a person measuring this situation, I don't believe it was a particular version of motherboards that Microsoft intended to put out. We saw with the 1.6, where it DID come with a pre-programmed rom (so no TSOP) on the board that they could finally disconnect the LPC. That's why we have to rebuild it there. It is perfectly consistent. It stops TSOP mods. It stops modchips for noobs. It required a new bios that supported the new video encoder. I think they believed they could use updates on game disks and Xbox Live to patch the softmods. So they thought they had all the bases covered with 1.6. I got my information from the Xbox-Linux Project. They published an article on Xbox Security which I preserved on this site. "Now other people found out that, if the flash chip is completely missing, the Xbox wants to read from a (non-existant) ROM chip connected to the (serial) LPC bus. This is of course because of the manufac- turing process: As it has been explained before, the flash chip gets programmed in-system, the first time they are turned on, using an external LPC ROM chip. Modchip makers soon developed chips that only needed 9 wires and connected to the LPC bus. It was enough to ground the data line D0 to make the Xbox think that flash memory is empty. Lots of these “cheapermods” appeared, as they only consisted of a single serial flash memory chip. They could be installed within minutes, especially after some companies started shipping chips that used pogo pins, so that no soldering was required. Some groups wrote applications like boot menus that made it possible to copy games to hard disk and run them from there. Patched Xbox kernels ap- peared that supported bigger hard disks. Making the Xbox run copies from DVD-R or hard disk as well as homebrew applications written with the official Xbox SDK was now easy." https://www.ogxbox.com/archive/xboxsecurity.html It's under the "Modchips" heading.
  17. why am i not allowed to get hexen dude
  18. i've never seen a youtube vid where the smaller capacitors were replaced, only the bigger ones. do the small ones not go bad?
  19. I am reposting this topic again because i think the topic was pulled down. I asked a question?, To all the owners, modder's, collector's whatever, whoever. The God knowledge CPU upgraders...ETC Why is the Power supply upgrade neglected? Come on guys make your system better than ever, the ultimate original xbox Power Is the single most vital none motherboard component in you hybrid pc game console that can be improved really easy if you wanted to. Give your system a larger deeper well of wattage to draw water from, so your system will run more efficiently then ever before because not a single watt asked for is not given to it immediately with ease of operation. Have your fan's run faster and at full speed effortlessly, Open the possibility for other hardware mods or definitely other cooling mods. Power is important, not to big ...' not to small but just the right oversized power supply, Bigger than the manufacturer's But not too big. Any flex atx will do with modification. Or heavy modification depending on what your skill set is and what equipment you have to work with. Message me with questions and i will give you my email.. Console power supplies suck. Power was limited by the space in witch the power supply had to go into at the time of current technology of consoles. Consoles are computer's dummed down. Anyway point being always and i mean always upgrade the consoles power supply first then the rest of the crap. Cpu upgrade, ram upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, cooling upgrade. Blah Blah Blah, What do all of these mods have in common? More Power consumption of the system. They are all almost worthless without the larger wattage well to draw from... Upgrade your power supplies to these amazing modded consoles. Compliment your ram upgrade, cpu, upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, etc with a better atx power supply. Any flex atx will do see my photos on mine. Also i am selling on ebay 4 fat model ps2's custom painted with a double size power supply riged in it. It runs better than ever. Despite maximum wattage use. That is based on an inadequate power supply that is small enough to fit in a compact space. Now uh days we have 1U server power supplies that deliver up to 1000 watts, Flex atx, standard 1u flex atx, tfx, sfx...ETC U name it... it exist now... Compact power punching power supplies. It just takes a little creativity and a little desire to upgrade. Remember the xbox uses a 3.3 standby mode. So you have to mod you small power supply to do this. Easy money, just get a step down transformer tiny logic board. Convert 5 volt volt stand by VSB to 3.3 VSB. USING A BUCK CONVERTER.
  20. Hello, I have two xboxes, version 1.2 and 1.4 in both of them after the start Frag. They do not have a tsop. In one there was a chip for a spider web with cromwell, I soldered the chip and the console got Frag. In the second one, however, it worked but after replacing the past, it stopped competing. I tried to run both aladdin but it does not help, any ideas ?
