  1. So I have this 1.0 OGXbox and it has been FRAG'ing since coming out from being locked away in storage for a several years. I remember it working fine last time I used it. It tries to boot three times and then FRAG's 50/50 fast, does not output video, and does not output audio. I have noticed that when I press the eject button that the hard drive makes some sounds like as if it's working maybe and also the noise of the fan/fans gets louder or higher in pitch (not sure), but the FRAG'ing continues and still doesn't output video/audio. I noticed is (while having the Xbox connected to an ethernet switch) that when I press the eject button the ethernet link LED comes on for about a second or two, then goes out for about five seconds, and then comes back on and stays on. I also see the ethernet activity LED blink a seemingly healthy amount too. I'm thinking the problem is one or more of the following: EEPROM, TSOP, PSU, trace rot, maybe big shield (mildly/moderately rusted) that the motherboard sits in is not making contact with required connections on the bottom of motherboard, one or more capacitors on the motherboard possibly need replacing. I'm kind of hesitant about putting a modchip in as I'm not sure if it may get damaged/destroyed by this particular Xbox (I have an OpenXenium on hand).
  2. Hey guys, this week I've had two xboxs that were untouched seals still intact and clock cap leaking everywhere just starting cleaning when i noticed both had the same issue, the two screws on the hard drive caddy that screw the hd to the caddy have unscrewed with vibrations from the drive I would guess as they are both the same side right looking at the front of the xbox,( if the hd spun up the other way probably be the other two) and ended up in the power supply. May be worth a drop of lock tight or a shake proof washer for anybody still using one. the screw is nestled in between the the heat sinks next to the transformer. Ted
  3. So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb. I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine. Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now. ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/z74Mzxe Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). I guess it was pretty good: https://imgur.com/a/6DlSKuY. The residue is either flux or denaturated ethanol i used to clean it up. VIDEO:
  4. I have (purchased from a friend) a x3ce modded Xbox that boots into XBMC and it has a 2tb HDD installed. He has about 330 Xbox games in folders on the G partition, and it's running out of room. I have another 300+ games that I would like to install to F and just wanted to see what needed to be done to get all the games from F and G to show when I click the "Games" tab. Is the a CFG file I need to edit in XMBC or am I stuck with 2 separate sources (Games and Games 2)? I hope I explained that well enough. Thanks in adavance.
