  1. I've noticed something when I turn on my Xbox. It does the initial 'flubber' xbox animation when I turn it on, however it sits there for quite some time (maybe at least a good minute) before it moves on. Now normally it would do the xbox animation screen and the word 'microsoft' in white letters pop up indicating it's good to go and proceed to a dashboard. Mine now is doing the animation and sits there for a while, longer than normal, before I get the microsoft text and it goes to the dash. Additionally it isn't showing the XBMC Emustation title screen before it jumps into XBMC Emustation either like it did before. Again, normally it would show a XBMC Emustation title screen before it went into Emustation. So my xbox does this -> turns on / does xbox animation -> hangs for a bit before microsoft text pops up -> takes a while on blank screen -> eventually loads up XBMC Emustation On my other xbox it goes -> turns on / animation -> instantly does microsoft text -> quickly shows XBMC Emustation title / splash screen -> goes right into XBMC Emustation Any ideas on what is going on and what I can do to resolve this? XBMC Emustation is loaded on E: and all roms/media/etc are on F:
  2. Pal 1.6 xbox, switched to NTSC mode using enigma switcher, xecuter 2.6 chip, launching games via Xbmc. Component video cable. Games ftp'd to the hard drive, files extracted from redump isos. All other games, a mix of PAL and NTSC versions, launch in 480p. But Winback2 and Colin Mcrae 3 will only launch in 480i. Both are NTSC versions. I'm sure these both should work in 480p. Any ideas what the issue could be? Any suggestions appreciated.
  3. A service installed an Aladdin xt modchip into my xbox, works perfectly, the problem I have is that if I press the power button it drops me into the official MS dash, if I hold the power button for 1 sec it takes me to the Slayers custom dash, so I can play anything. I wanted the modchip to be permanently enabled so I dont have to hold every time the power button, so I soldered two joints as shown here: This causes my xbox to turn on as soon as I plug it into the wall, even without pressing the power button, and the xbox can't be turned off. Is it a normal thing? I mean this automatic power on obviously not normal, but that one that I have to hold the power button to enter custom dash, is it normal? Or the service messed up the soldering points with the modchip on the motherboard? I have a 1.6 motherboard I guess.
  4. I have a 2005 OG Xbox that started to not turn on a little while ago. I pulled it apart and well...it was a bit of a mess. The photos will show a hell of a lot of dust build up. I bought it for $10 a few years ago and it was literally caked in dirt on the outside (like someone had buried it). Anyway I gave it a wipe on the outside and despite the disk tray needing to be 'popped out' each time it worked reliably. But now it doesn't turn on at all. Now I am assuming I should replace those leaking capacitors. But I've never soldered before so a bit wary. What do you think, is that the power problem? Or could the massive dust build up have killed something else. Is it worth giving a clean and putting back together with the capacitators left alone?
  5. Hey Guys, Long time lurker, first time poster. Am having some issues getting XBMC4GAMERS to start on my 1.1.8 Rocky5 softmodded Xbox. When I launch the default.xbe it just bounces me straight back to the Rocky5 dashboard, I dont even get as far as the XBMC4Gamers splash screen. Other apps (Enigmah, XBPartitioner, even XBMC4XBOX) run fine, as do games from the G drive. For background I am using a 1TB WD Green HDD, Sata/IDE converter with an 80 wire IDE cable, I have another softmodded Xbox which I have moved the HDD into and the same issue occurs here too. What's really bizarre is before I copied any games over to the Games folder on the G Drive XBMC4GAMERS started fine, but now wont. I've had a look around the XBMC4Gamers folder and cant see any log files to check. I've also removed and readded the XBMC4Gamers folder, and tried from the E/F/G partitions and same issue. My partitions show as they should do in XBPartitioner (120GB 16KB F, 803GB 64KB G) Have tried running in both PAL and NTSC modes, 480p and 720p are enabled on the MS Xbox Dash, 1080i is disabled). Have also rebuilt the HDD from scratch by secure erasing the disk and formatting again with XBOXHDMUSB. Same thing happens whereby XBMC4Gamers will run with fine with no games on the G Drive, but wont run after they have been added. Was coming down on this being something to do with the games, but if I rename the Games folder on the G drive to something else it still wont start. Any help would be appreciated?
  6. As above, The chipped xbox I mod'd a while ago with the SD card reader is locking up after the flubber screen. It displays the Ind Bios screen then just locks up totally. What is likely to cause this? Hardware or something to do with the SD card? Cheers guys
  7. Hey guys, sold one of my chipped boxes, shipped her properly and she worked before, now we have the 3 times start and then red/orange flashing. All solderjoints were resoldered without and change in behaviour ... Any ideas ? Dead ?
  8. Hello All. Found this site after buying my first OG Xbox. Looking to learn up on the system and what I can do with it. Thanks!
  9. Make yourselves comfy this is kinda a doozy I am totally new to the OGXB modding scene. I recently picked up a Crystal Xbox at a used games store, and the guy there told me that it had been modded and has some emulators. He really doesn't know very much about modding so he couldn't give me a lot of info about what had been done to it, but since it was only $50 I snagged it. He even threw in a free game as well, so I went with the 1st Splinter Cell, (which I knew would come in handy for the Linux exploit if/when I needed to run it) Now that I can dig around in it here's what I DO know: It is a 1.6 XB (kernel 5838) It has EvolutionX 3935 It says the BIOS version is UNKNOWN (not sure if that's just from it having EvolutionX) It is an NTSC model (from Canada I believe? The power supply on the back says 100 V - 127 V ~ 2.1A ... 50/60 HZ) What I DON'T know is: Has it been softmodded or modchipped? (Haven't had time to disassemble it to check, not sure if there is a way to tell without disassembly. However I DID notice that the Linux save file for the SC exploit is already on the console, not sure if that means it has been only been softmodded though) Can I switch from EvolutionX to UnleashX? (just preference, figure it will depend on if it is chipped or only softmodded) AND is there a way to run backups without swapping a HDD? (I do plan to swap it sometime once I have some fun money, the Lock is still Enabled) EDIT: I also don't know about the state of the clock capacitor, being a 1.6 I know I need to check that I also CANNOT go to the MS Xbox Dash from EvolutionX (ERROR 21) RIght now the Xbox works well (although I probably need to replace the rubber band in the disk drive soon because sometimes I have to give it love taps to open) but I really just want to be able to run emulators (which it already does) play backups, and do an HDD swap sooner or later. Since I bought this console already modded in some capacity I just don't know exactly what's been done to it and what I will be able to do since it is a 1.6. Any help is really appreciated
  10. Hi everyone, I just introduced myself in the "new members" section. And now I have a bunch of questions covering different topics. I have a softmodded XBOX that I modded like ten years ago. I do not remember what softmod, what exploit, did I tsop-flash...? My setup is as follows: XBOX 1.2-1.5, 2.5"Sata-hdd, laptop-dvd-drive, VGA-connector on the back with a DIP-switch to choose vga-video-mode (so obviously i did a tsop-flash?), and usb-connectors on port 3 and 4. Everything is running again after some major issues. The box is booting to xbmc 3.0 and I can watch movies and play games from HDD (I can not find my game-dvds). But since I can not remember what softmod is installed, or what bios is flashed I want to start over. I only want to keep my games from the HDD. My plans are as follows: backup games via FTP, backup eeprom, install a new softmod, NULL the hdd-code, ( I may want to upgrade the 160GB hdd at some point), rebuild the HDD from scratch, install the latest XBMC is this the best order? what are the best methods for doing so? what software do I need (Tool-DVDs ?)
