About Me

  1. I bought this modded big boi in 2005,here is the problem,in original Fable The Lost Chapter if i try to load save state my game will just freeze which will force me to restart xbox, game runs fine without loading save states, saving is also okay. Same problem occured in Call of Duty:Finest Hour, loading next map will almost always led to freeze, after restarting xbox map loads fine. Worst problem was in Kotor 1,xbox would just refuse to continue gaming after cutscene in the the Star Forge. I have EvoX if that matters.
  2. https://imgur.com/a/OJsz0Uw please click that link so that u can see a video of what i'm talking about. you'll notice that there are vertical static(static as in fuzzy static on a tv not, static as in "unchanging") lines on the screen when there is a dark scene. the video doesn't show it too well but they are even easier to see in person. that is the opening sequence of xmen legends. i have this problem on 2 of my stock xbox v1.0's and on my modded v1.4(i also have the diagonal lines on it). the lines do not appear on my v1.6's. i've tried it on 2 stock and one modded 1.6 and none of the 3 have the problem. i am connected thru the official hd xbox thing(with the component cable outputs). i'm wondering if it is an issue with certain capacitors that cause this? if so, does anyone know which specific ones cause it? the reason i ask is because it would be a pain to fully recap each board of the xbox when they are functioning perfectly in all other areas so i'd rather just replace the specific ones instead of recapping the whole board. btw, none of the cap are bulging or show obvious wear. i know that the 1.4's are very prone to the diagonal lines because of bad caps but i don't which ones are the problem.
  3. Background. I got hold of a v1.0 (gpu fan model) with the intention of TSOP flashing it, but it wouldn't boot past the logo, and I diagnosed hard drive failure. The clock capacitor hadn't leaked when I removed it, and the Thompson DVD drive works, so I'm guessing the hard drive failed early and the Xbox was put away faulty. Anyway I fitted an Aladdin (breaking a track fitting the rom disable ) Having fixed the track, fitted the rom disable to a different place and swapped the hard drive, it works! However, there is a horizontal line (usually pinky coloured) that slowly moves up and down the lower third of the screen. The line was there before I fitted the Aladdin. Sometimes it disappears, sometimes it is very noticeable. I tried removing the motherboard again and cleaning all the contact points to the screening can, including the fingers on the video socket. The video lead is fine when connected to my other xbox (component video btw) I'm hoping it is just a capacitor, but which one? They all look perfect even under a magnifying glass, no signs of leakage, splitting or bulging. I'm reluctant to just change loads of them, as 1) I'd fit eBay components, so they might be fakes and worse than what is in there at the moment 2) with the trouble breaking a track (my eyesight isn't what it used to be) I might cause more problems than I solve trying to change them.
