  1. Hello to everyone in this forum, i am a new user here but a nearly lifelong fan of the OG Xbox, it was my first experience with a games console and it will always hold a place in my heart for that, but after having a few systems throughout my childhood, i thought i should seriously look into getting a system, one that will be the best fit for my needs, i know theres several different revisions but i'm thinking what i want my console for is probably very niche compared to most other users. So i'd feel like asking for my needs which revision is personally the best fit for me? So to start, what i want to do with my console is obviously play the games but i also want to watch DVDs on it (Yeah i still like to watch DVDs, they're just the most convenient method for me) and i liked using the ripping CDs feature for putting my favorite songs in certain games, so i'd like to do that, basically... i'm just gonna want something that will reliably play discs. As for modding, i am not interested much in mods, i havent really ever done any mods before, i did purchase a soldering set so in the future i could do things like that for many systems but really i dont think i'd be comfortable with opening one up, although knowing the whole clock capacitor problem i might have to. So if i had to do any modifications to the console it would only really be simple stuff to enhance the vanilla XBOX experience, obviously the caps but perhaps if its possible maybe a slightly larger hard drive for lots of music and game saves, just really nothing special or crazy, but i'm open to suggestions on recommended mods and tricks for my relatively mundane wants for an XBOX from the research i've done (and are still working on) i think the V1.4 revision from what i hear is good, but i think its in my best interest to ask people who truly know the system, i am aware of things like the early thompson drives as well as the previously mentioned caps issue but i want to be able to know what the best option is for me. Thank you
  2. So I have a OEM component cable and a 3rd party. They both work but give me one same issue. The right audio channel wont work, so its just my left speaker. Its not my TV bc my PS2 and Wii component works flawlessly. I cleaned the av port with q tip and isopropyl 91. If I use my Chimeric HDMI adapter both speakers work but I think its still playing through the left audio channel only. Im tryna use component so I can avoid buying another hdmi splitter. My xbox is a 1.2 128mb ram openxenium running IND bios recapped not by me.
  3. I have been trying many combintations based on info found here, but still cannot get the dash to see G: Drive. I have a 1.6 with an original X2.6 Install, and a 2tb drive with the Origin Image (Only becuase I wanted to get things setup and back into OG Xbox) I have been using bios' downloaded from the right sources, and uploading them via ethernet with flashbios always on bank 1&2. I have tried the following either modified with EVTool (for 256k) or X2ool for the Xecuter bios (5035 512k) I try to mod the bios for LBA support, but its not happening. I think there maybe an issue with the programs above and compatability/admin rights?? So far I have tried: x2_5035_v16plus_512k modified with X2ool M8plus_16 modified with EVTool (1.0.8) M8_16_LBA48_IGR_C-06 modified with EVTool (1.0.8) The last one I really expected to work......I've not played with any partition tools as I was concerned that I might loose data. Finally, I've not tried any of the installation DVD's as the drives dont seem to be working.....
  4. I have a Samsung dvd drive, it can read original discs fine, even when in the xbmc dashboard, but burned discs can only be run when I restart the console after I put the disc in. And only DVD-R, the DVD+R doesnt work at all. When I'm in the XBMC and I insert the burned disc it says "invalid path". So seems like the dvd drive is fine, maybe some app messes up something?
  5. I"m seeking advice on upgrading the Bios on my original Xbox due a larger hard drive installed which also needs a 32k cluster size. Therefore I'm after a better and known BIOS which has LBA48 (+137GB) and only enables partition6 (f:). Xbox info (Known) Console model: v1 (0a) Mod chip: Super Aladdin Live Hard drive WD 500GB (PATA) *NOS DVD: Thomson (yuck!) so little luck making it boot CD/DVDs Kernel Version: 1.0.4981.6 Current Bios: Unknown - possibility custom (Xecuter2 4981) Currently the xbox HD is formatted 16k cluster size and I am experiencing issues in relation to this and want it to be 32k. When I run XBPartitioner to correct this, it displays: Therefore I just need a more recent bios with LBA48 v2+ that also keeps other feature like In Game Reset (IGR) Which is why I'm asking this question to you. From my research I've learnt that for BIOS that enables partition #6 is labelled as x.06 for both partitions #6 and #7 is x.67. I've read that Aladdin (mod chips) will only take 256k (default). Inside the xbox is the Super Aladdin Live and know little about chip size or amount of banks as only I've found was on the knightdiscount website. Since my xbox possible has Xecuter2 4981, thought these would be go choice: Xecuter2 4983 however after looking at: I have been look a the All Retail Bios Information chart on this forum. All I know if I flash the wrong bios I'll have to re-flash it with hardware I just don't have. Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey Guys I'm looking to upgrade my HDD on my xbox to a 2TB. So I wanted to find out what my best option would be. I'm looking at buying Western Digital Blue 2TB (5400RPM) - Very good price Western Digital Purple 2TB (5400RPM) - Only a little more expensive than the Blue but has better reliability over longer periods as it is a surveillance drive, or Western Digital Black 2TB (7200RPM) - Much more expensive than the Blue, however I'm not sure my loading times will be worth the cost? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi guys, I know these things are rare but i kinda feel this guy is taking the piss!! £350!!! I paid only £50 for one of these in the same state (unused, boxed) only a couple of months ago!! Ebay Link to Piss Taker :) At £100 i'd consider it but tat would still be a bit of a piss take i feel.
