  1. Hi all I am a new member, so am not sure if this posting is in the correct place, but any help would be really appreciated. I bought a modded Xbox with XBMC/Coinops4 on it about 6-7 years ago and then stored it away without really trying it out. In all there are about 5,000 emulated arcade and console games present. I recently decided to start looking at it properly, and so far it seems to be working fine (on a HD ready LCD) except for the following issues/queries. Although not a technical person I have spent the last 2-3 weeks scouring the internet for information/answers to the below, but have not been able resolve/clarify them. 1) None of the NES games work, even though all their ROMS are present a folder named "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles". e.g. The ABADOX.NES Rom is located in "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles\NES_Abadox.zip". But whenever I try and run this game I get message "Error Opening D:\Romsconsoles\NES\NES_Abadox.zip ... No such file or directory PRESS B" On reading this error message I appreciate that when selecting a NES game, the system appears to be looking in the wrong directory but how do I fix it ? 2) After much internet searching I found out how to enable the 480p/720p settings by changing PAL to NSTC (and using component cables). On the 720p setting, the XMBC dashboard writing looks far clearer than it did when running in the default PAL 576i setting. However although all the emulated console/arcade games still look OK, they do not appear to be any sharper/clearer than when using the original PAL setting or when I just use just the 480p setting or even when I simply use a RGB cable. Am I missing something or does the 720p setting only apply to the dashboard and not the actual emulated arcade/console games? This question has really perplexed me ! 3) When running an Amiga game the system usually asks me to load a floppy disc. The Coinops Instruction Manual says that you should press the START button. However this does not work. Any ideas what I should do ? The same issue is also present for some X68000 games. Thanks in advance for any help/guidance. John B

I bought a modded Xbox with XBMC/Coinops4 on it about 6-7 years ago and then stored it away without really trying it out. In all there are about 5,000 emulated arcade and console games present (plus a few Xbox titles). I recently decided to start looking at it properly, and so far it seems to be working fine (on a HD ready LCD) except for the following issues/queries. Although not a technical person I have spent the last 2-3 weeks scouring the internet for information/answers to the below, but have not been able resolve/clarify them. 1) None of the NES games work, even though all their ROMS are present a folder named "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles". eg The ABADOX.NES Rom is located in "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles\NES_Abadox.zip". This question has really perplexed me ! 3) The Coinops instructions (as found on the internet) state that you can use the Left/Right thumb buttons to enable Semi-Automatic or Automatic fire respectively. However when playing a game like Metal Slug, pressing either of these thumb buttons does not have any effect. Further, when playing a console game I know that the Right thumb button is used to adjust screen size. Again, what am I misunderstanding from the Coinops instructions ? 4) When running Amiga games that require a 2nd disc, pressing the START button (as stated in the Coinops instrutions) does not do anything. Also a similar problem with X68000 games that show a screen requiring you to insert a floppy disc ..... not sure what to do (nothing in Coinops instructions). Hope that my above ramblings make some sense to someone more knowledgeable than myself ! Thanks JB
  3. Got 3 custom built NES Xbox controllers for sale. They are custom built and use the original controller cable, a new NES classic controller shell and work just like a regular official Xbox controller. Perfect for playing NES or Gameboy games on the Xbox! Price: 40€ each+shipping costs.
  4. Hey everyone does anyone know how to hookup a nes or snes controller to a og xbox
  5. As always, the finished product goes first. The system is a XChip modded xbox running XBMC. Has 4,000 games backedup on it (Coinops-NES, Atari 2600, N64, PS1, Arcade games and everything inbetween. Including some PC game ports as well as backed up Xbox games with custom maps and features). But, there's a twist. It can use original, unmodified NES controllers. And full SNES controllers with a simple SNES>NES adapter (Fun fact, they have the same contacts, just different plugs). This is designed to be a very long lasting Xbox. It runs under 100 degrees Fahrenheit and everything is plug n play so if I need to change the motherboard or PSU out its as easy as Legos. And as always, the unit is designed to be used by strangers at large events when its not sitting in front of my own TV, so its built quite rugged. For the case I went to eBay and simply searched "aluminum enclosure" until I found something I liked. When it arrived, it looked something like below. Then I used a drill press to slowly and methodically drill out the holes I wanted, then I filed them down. Luckily I no longer have to do this method for my consoles as I found someone who can reliably mill my holes out for me. While this method worked, its missing that final 5% that really makes you go "wow". For the NES ports, I used a microcontroller to imitate the OG xbox controller and let me use unmodified NES controllers instead. To switch between the NES and Xbox controllers, you just have to push the button next to the controller port, its that simple. I have adapters to allow me to use SNES controllers as well. Luckily its just a physical difference for the plug, like having a USB-mini to USB micro adapter. While I like the duke controller, I can now use more simple controllers for games that dont required joysticks. While its tempting to have my new contact professionally remake a front bezel for me to really polish it off, I would rather that money go toward a new project.
  6. Howdy folks. I just started in on HW modding. Ive soft modded things and built many computers but this is something else entirely. I have disassembled my 1.0 xbox and will solder the tsop. THe next step is to figure out how to flash the bios and enable the hdd. I've never done this before so wish me luck!!!
  7. Every game run on this emu suffers from screen tearing. The only way that I found to circumvent this issue is to go into: Configuration -> Video Configuration -> Other Video Configurations -> Xbox Hardware Filtering and change it to Bilinear Filtering, but the image is too soft for my liking. By default, it is set to Point Filtering, and software filter: None Any alternatives?
