  1. This thread will demonstrate how the xbox jewel can be removed, and in a pair of follow-up posts how a hole for it can be made on the xbox cover, all in a very low-tech manner. I'm not confident enough to call these tutorials, but they may be helpful. First: removing the jewel. I grab a couple feet of dental floss and stuff it under the edge of the jewel with a card or what have you. Then I dribble some rubbing alcohol down there, because in my experience rubbing alcohol acts as a mild solvent on the adhesive pad thingy underneath. Whatever helps. By the way it was another modder, not me, who invented the floss method. I start flossing while keeping the arms of the floss in that letter U shape. I'm going to add more alcohol in a minute and re-position the floss at the other side of the jewel then continue working it. After a while the floss approaches the middle of the jewel and it starts to bind, that's when I add some mineral oil to lubricate everything. Pretty much any type of oil will do though. The whole mess starts to look like this... Getting farther in, the floss wants to bind again despite the oil. I don't want it to snap. I lift one of its arms to a 90 degree angle and slowly work the floss back into action. Eventually the jewel is off. This took maybe 10 minutes.
  2. I create ROM Hack for original xbox game but it require to patch 29 file! Xdelta and others they only patch 1 file *Note my game is HDD rip (files) not iso
  3. I'm just wondering if an XBlast Lite is required for the TSOP features or if the os will see a 1mb TSOP and options for TSOP management should appear... Or would the chip have to have a certain cpld and I would have to program it first?
  4. So here is the deal, I have an OG Xbox for the first time in my life. Games play amazingly well, but I don't know if it's because of the fact that most games use AA, but they tend to look a bit blurry. I am using the Xbox with component cables on a Sony Wega CRT 29inch, it is a really awesome TV. But like I said the Xbox looks a bit blurry, the Wii/Gamecube through component looks cleaner in comparison. The PS2 also looks clean on my TV using component, but the PS2 image quality is crap anyways so it doesn't even matter. In essence what I am asking is: Is there an APP or an option within a Dashboard that can make the Xbox games look sharper looking? I know that there are filters within most dashboards, but they are mostly for the dashboard itself, not the games, etc. Cheers and thank you all, you are a wonderfull community, I mean, we are
  5. Hi people, welp I make a upsie in my Xbox trying run pgr2, first try copy several times the game over ftp but noting works so I think well maybe is the installation of dashboard so I put another installer in my x, I guess is evox someting, was a old dvd from 2010 or 2008 based on evolutionx dash and green radioactive backgroun, anyway the trouble is, boot to original dashboard but can't boot from DVD coz I flash the DVD check disable bios so cant make a cold boot from hexen dvd to try reflash the custom dash also can't boot from original game still saying the disk is not a original one, ohhh almost forgotten say my version, is a 1.6 board with aladdin xt2 plus, evox m8 firmware with dvd check disable, I guess I need make the hot swap between my pc and the Xbox hdd, ohhh alsothis console came with a bigger hdd When I bought it but that hdd is dead (head crash ) so I put another "working" IDE drive I had laying arround the house and say working coz this disk had some bad sectors is not like 1000 bad sector just 3 sectors and works fine until I made the stupid think but that's not the point, so my question is any possibility to recovery the dash without pc xbox hdd swap, is not a problem do that I had a old desktop pc with IDE interface but I can't find my cd with linux s.o and all the stuff for softmod I burn years ago (2006 or 2007 and still working that cd) or There is a better way to flash a custom dash and boot the hexen disk
  6. So, I have 5 games which fit a 4.7GB DVD disc. Problem1 : some files are wmv (yep, normal wmv videos which even my computer can play) so they can be compressed / converted to lower formats. My question about them is: will it "break" the game if I compress them (I mean, will the game display the usual "your disc is broken" message, making the game crash?) or can they even be replaced (example: same file format, different name?) Problem2 : the only program I know to make a XISO with them is c-xboxtool205 . What do I have to choose : MenuX or MXM options ? Once the ISO file is done, can I just burn it with Imgburn to make it work on the Xbox or do I have to patch it somehow with other programs? Problem3 : if I succeed making such DVD, what will happen if I want to transfer the games to the HD of the Xbox ? Will DVD2xbox utility merge all games into ones ... or can I just use the File Manager to copy the folders manually ? Thank you all for any response, I know it sounds pretty complex, but I just want to waste no DVD's as they're pretty expensive here.
  7. Since I moved over to Windows 7 64bit a long time ago now there's been one problem I've had with using Xplorer360 that has never made sense to me. Why does it see FATX formatted flash drives and display their content but the when you try to use an unlocked FATX HDD it always reports as no FATX device found. On my now deceased Windows XP SP3 32bit laptop it did work but was always a bit iffy. The solution is actually hinted at by that but in all those years of using Windows 7 I'd not come across any mention of this problem in any discussion of Xplorer360. There are even posts from a respected Xbox guru (no name) who states categorically that Windows 7 with Xplorer360 will not see any FATX device >4GB. It is not wrong because, clearly it doesn't but no mention is made that even using Windows 7 you can get it to see your unlocked FATX HDDs. I spent half the morning today just trying to get my FATX HDD to be seen by Windows and that in itself is difficult enough. A simple IDE > USB cable (+power of course) just didn't work for me. But a dual IDE/SATA external enclosure did after several reboots and cable changes. But Windows 7 64bit > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage Devices still reported it as an uninitialized USB Mass Storage device with unallocated space. You do need to right mouse click the left hand panel of the HDD volume shown and use the initialize option provided but, obviously, do nothing else. But even then Xplorer360 thwarts you by not see what you know is an attached, Windows recognised, unlocked FATX formatted HDD. I was on the point of giving up and just happened upon this forum post from 2009 (hope it is OK to post this) :- https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/getting-hdds-to-show-up-in-xplorer360-if-you-have-fatx-error-look-here.92832/ The answer is frustratingly simple: Run Xplorer360 in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. Depending on your default status you may need use the run as administrator option too. The other stuff in that thread is mostly just about using the most up to date version of Xplorer360 and the DLL missing from Windows 7 installations it needs. If you're using Xplorer360 successfully already with flash drives then it is irrelevant. My feeling is that any trouble you may still have will be down to the hardware used in connecting the FATX formatted HDD to the PC. The HDD must be recognised by Windows as an attached Mass Storage device but it may only display in the system tray as an USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge if it is in an external housing. Unlike FATX flash drives it appears it will not be shown in the Computer/My Computer overview screen at all either. But Xplorer360 will still see it and display the content. Whether the same solution will work for Windows 10 I don't know yet but definitely worth trying compatibility mode for WinXP SP2 whatever Windows version you're using.
  8. Ninja load roms in OK time, but coinops is very slow. Any posibility to reduce loading times? I like coinops, because of its easier interface. Ninja is awesome, but fast scrolling through hundreds of roms is kinda slow.
  9. What's the best replacement fan to make the Xbox run quieter?

  11. My XBOX just squeeled when I turned it off. I'm thinking it could be the power supply; as it is a v1.0. Any suggestions on the best power supply to get for the v1.0?
