About Me

  1. Hello! After months of focusing primarily on the Nintendo Wii, the Electron Shepherd team has just released a new product that we are thrilled to share: the Xbox2HDMI module! This tiny, power-packed module takes in the Component video and digital audio output from the Original Xbox and outputs an HDMI signal with embedded Dolby Digital Surround Sound (if that audio setting is enabled in your Xbox’s settings). This module utilizes a fully custom PCB with a higher quality, next generation IC compared to what is typically used on the widely available Wii2HDMI and VGA2HDMI modules that are readily available online. If you are not happy with those modules, then you will absolutely be happy with these. This module efficiently supports the 480i, 720p, and 1080i resolutions that are default to the original Xbox. These units can be bought with ease on our store located here: https://electron-shepherd.com/xbox2hdmi/ Please let use know if you have any questions about this or any other product we currently offer! - Shane from Electron Shepherd LLC https://twitter.com/ElectronShep
  2. So I ordered a Pound HDMI Cable for my Xbox because my Sony Bravia 850h TV has NO COMPONENT hookups! I really don't mind low resolution when im OG Gaming, but the only TV in my house that has components is in my bedroom and that is not where everyone games. Unboxing the Pound HDMI Cable and hooking it up, I immediately had video drop outs every 5-15 seconds it didn't matter if it was dashboard, games, anything. I also had wavy lines. This was WITH the microusb plugged in and powered. Things i tried: 1) all different HDMI ports 2) different HDMI cables 3) microusb using powered adapter 4) microusb plugged into TV Nothing fixed it, so I recorded and sent my info to pound. Their customer service is top notch and they sent me a new cable. This is where things get interesting. New cable, FLAWLESS HD Video, no lines, nothing! Looks amazing on the dashboard, loaded up CoinOps8 PERFECT, then I started Fable and immediately got drop outs. UGH! I did a lot of testing and I believe the first cable was a hardware issue. The new cable I now believe it is an issue with Sony 4k TV's. The drop out does not occur on ANY 720p+ games: Soul Caliber 2, Nitro cart racing, Tony hawk Underground etc. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and am at my wits end. I wonder if Chimera or XBOX2HDMI will have the same issues on my TV. I am really thinking at this point the only real solution is the XBOXHD+ upgrade, but i was really hoping not to shell out 140$ as thats almost the cost of my entire mod, and I would like to keep the case as close to original as possible. Ideas/thoughts? 3. Looks like Harcroft has been improving on the Ryzee version and has been getting help. Cool to see some activity around this design! Nothing beats open-source! " 2/2 I've been working with some friends at Xbox-Scene to update @Ryzee119's open source HDMI prototype for Xbox to provide a more user friendly install and add some features. We're at the prototyping stage but things are looking good for a free open source internal Xbox HDMI Mod.
  4. Took me 2 days to get all the wiring right. for the wii2hdmi for og xbox modd ... using a wii2hdmi device ordered off eBay you can also find an Alibaba and other places like this. Very inexpensive around 5 Canadian dollars. You're also going to need some sort of a donor Xbox RCA wires or component wires in order to pull this off. There is 11 connections total five of which are ground I do not suggest not adding all the ground cuz could cause interference. Had pretty good luck I made to both of them are crystal clear with no interference. I tested on version 1.0 as well as version 1.4 turned out very good. I tried to look up and down online for some sort of schematic nothing appeared. There was one picture that was in Spanish but it was misleading I tried to look into it to find out who the original inventor was found the person at XB Classics a Brazilian site. After conversating with him he told me that he had better pictures but he would not share. Then I noticed a site that they has linked where they were selling these to the equivalent of 40 US dollars a piece so that is the reason the images that they uploaded are just there to confuse people. So that they cannot make it. Does not include audio left or right. And apparently La stands for 5 V? Don't ask me but that's what the guy told me makes no sense at all. I spent two days getting the wiring correct. I documented everything and put it on a YouTube video (link2come) was trying to figure out the best way to make this readily available for everybody in the world any Xbox Enthusiast should have a low cost HDMI adapter solution available to them this is where these schematics come in. Again I didn't notice any interference at all. Just a little bit in the Bios when only running 480 but there's not much you can do unless you re Flash the BIOS to force. I've noticed people in the group posting pictures not even having soldering skills and getting very good results from this method. In theory you can use this exact same adapter in order to have an internal HDMI solution. These images are water marked because these are going to be the only good images that are online and I seen the way XB classic does their water mark and it really bugs me that they did that so I wanted to make sure that everyone knows where it came from. That being said I'm Mister James Reid really helped me out with this he volunteered his services in order to take my hard copy drawings that were on paper and make it look something presentable. Which he did and he did a great job thank you very much James I did in fact alter the images to have the watermark across them. Sorry about that but I figured since I put in the work I deserve to have my name on it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate I do not check this site every day but I do come in from time to time. Thanks again and I hope people online can use this receive money from the big corporations like pounds and hyperkin charging ridiculous amounts of money for something so cheap... I've also got a lot of questions recently about people asking if this is any better than component. It uses the component wires in order to transfer the signal into HDMI. I'm not too technical with that end but when looking up the chip number on the actual board for the Wii to HDMI adapter I did notice in there schematics and their breakdown for the actual board they did mention that the video board that does the decoding actually does video on hand splint what kind of video enhancement I have no idea. But it should be an enhancement over component if they are speaking the truth. Anyway gentleman without further delay here are the schematics. I hope this hope somebody somewhere. Thank you very much Frank
  5. Hello everyone, I am reaching out to the community for some help. Long story I had a working HDMI mod with Open xenium on an Xbox. I wanted to try the ram upgrade. I had the Hynix ram stock, tried to replace them with Samsung, ram error and could not get that board to work again. I used a working spare board from my stock Xbox and just brought the open xenium and Makemhz HDMI over. I rebuilt the LPC using Amtech flux and my hakko soldering iron with my Kester ledded solder. I get great joints with these in combination and using an amscope for seeing what I'm doing. A mistake I think I made because it's been awhile, I removed the AV port and did both the LPC rebuild for the open xenium and HDMI board at the same time. Like I said it's been awhile and I may just need to patch the bios right? Problem is I am getting solid green on the chip and HDMI board (btw I used a new flex cable and use precision micro soldering pen to get those joins solid. I tested with a multimeter getting continuity and 33 ohms across each. No bridging or issues I can see under the scope with the ribbon cable, connector or the packages. I rebuilt the lpc again and still persists. One issue I should be honest and mention is the pin I took out for the lpc pins second one on the back left (was on some install guides to remove the pin). The hole pan was burnt off. Completely my mistake had the iron temp set way too high for another project. The trace going from that to a via on the front side of the board had been disconnected. That via goes to the back of the board but then it goes to the lpc where the pin is missing anyways. Basically I don't know if this is the issue. I am not getting a short that I can tell. Do I need to reflash my open xenium since it was working and setup on the old Xbox or is the issue that disconnected trace from the burnt out hole to the via, or is it something else potentially, can I test something with my multimeter? Do I just need to somehow patch the bios. Idk how now with the old av port missing. Audio works when I disconnect the open xenium but no video. I tried my testbench HDMI monitor. I tested my crt with an adapter that adjusts an HDMI signal to be adapted to composite. I tested on my TV upstairs and computer monitor with three good known working HDMI cables. I get no video when xenium is plugged in. I get no frag and can't see anything under the scope or infrared camera for chips going bad like the encoder. I've attached a short video showing the status of the lights. Any help is appreciated, thank you. https://youtu.be/Q00fV6C5C7c
  6. hello, i'm looking for one or two hdmi mod to buy, first seen it is in this forum but seems the guy is not active anymore. on castlemania, i missed the stock reflow this weekend. if anyone have some for sale, im from france and would be happy to deal with ya. cheers
  7. Hey folks It has been some time since I last posted. Hope you're doing well... What have you been up to? I recently preordered the new version of the HDMI+ mod from MakeMhz which will arrive in july and i wanted to upgrade one of my my existing xboxes with it. Since I'm going to solder anyway and i got some RAM chips laying around, i thought about upgrading the RAM as well. In this regard, i was wondering if there is a BIOS that supports both (HDMI and 128MB RAM). Is the MakeMHz-BIOS taking advantage of 128MB RAM? Does somebody have some experince with this? Thanks in advance for you thoughts! Greetings Bot
  8. Got 10 Diy install sets for the internal HDMI mod for sale right now. Keep in mind you should be handy with a soldering iron. It's not a lot more complicated than a chip install but if you already have trouble with an xbox chip leave this mod alone for now. Price for each set is: 70€ +shipping costs. Drop me a PM if you want one! The install set does include the main HDMI mod and the install adapters for ONE motherboard revisions so you have to decide which revision mothebroard to use when ordering
  9. Just set up new TV with each generation of XBox. I am limited with HDMI ports and need to use a switch for OG Xbox with Make Mhz HDMI+ and Xbox One X. I had one from Amazon claiming 4K at 60Hz but it forces the Xbox One X into a letterboxed 720p nightmare and the OG Xbox has video noise making that unplayable. I'm looking for a recommendation from anyone that has experience. To be clear this is for a switch, not splitter. I have 2 devices going to 1 port and just want to avoid plugging/unplugging when using them. Cheers!
  10. Hello everyone! I've recently softmodded my PAL Xbox using Rocky5's softmodding tool and I've set it up on my Samsung TV via HDMI using the Bitfunx adapter (I've enabled NTSC video mode and 480p and 720p resolutions). I know it's a crappy adapter but I'm 1600+ on the Chimeric Systems waiting list, so for the price I thought it was okay. And to be fair once my eyes got accustomed to the dark picture of the Bitfunx I thought I could get used to it... That is when it works. The problem is the purple/green hue sometimes changes randomly whenever I boot the system, launch a different dashboard (I'm using xbmc4gamers and emustation and unleash for FTP) or return to the dashboard after exiting a game. The hue can range from very dark purple, to lighter purple or light green, specially noticeable on black and gray things in the dashboard (I haven't noticed that problem when running games yet, but I should probably test it further) I've tried with different HDMI cables, cheap and a bit more expensive, new and used and they all give me the same problem. I'm not entirely sure that the problem is the adapter, because sometimes what triggers the problem is just restarting the dashboard. It could also be the system itself, but I couldn't find anyone who's had the same experience on the Internet. I'm wondering if someone has had a similar experience, because if I find out the adapter is not the problem I will not upgrade to the Chimeric Systems to still have the same annoying problem, obviously.
  11. I lost my N64 freak 1.4ghz Xbox in a fire last year when our house burned down and am sad to see he no longer makes them. If anyone has one I'm willing to buy. I'm in the USA. Name your price. Thanks, Jake
  12. Hi, I ordered a HDMI adapter from Ali and I have blackouts on my 1.6 and 1.2 boxes. The adapter is using 5V from AV port and I think it's not enough. My 1.2 has bad caps also next to cpu, I will replace them when they arrive but I would like to add external 5V from TV USB to the adapter. Anyone done that? Link to Aliexpress HDTV Adapter
  13. Does anyone have and installed XboxHD+ by MakeMHz? https://makemhz.com/products/xboxhd I really want to get something like this but wanted to confirm if it truly upscales games. For instance if a game doesn't have 720p, will this thing take it and output the game at that resolution?

  16. This HDMI mod replaces the AV port completely and offers an HDMI port instead for convenience. The Installed HDMI mod does look like this: The HDMI mod does offer 5.1 sound through the HDMI port. If you don't need 5.1 (or your TV might not support it) you can simply disable 5.1 audio and get digital stereo audio instead. For those who want to add an optical output to there Xbox the HDMI mod does offer 3 solder points to add a TOTX178 optical transmitter. To get the HDMI mod installed you first need to get the AV-port removed. To get it removed you could either use a hot-air station or a heat-gun to remove it at once. But that would put a lot of thermal stress on the board! The better and recommended alternative is to disassemble the Port and remove it one part at a time. First desolder the Metal Tab holding it in place by heating them and prying the metal tab up to pull it out. When the metal tab is removed take a sidecutter and clip off all the pins from the video port as they are what keeps the Port in place. When they are clipped off you can take the port cover off by simply pulling it upwards. Next step is to remove the remaining plastic piece and desolder the rest of the pins and clean up the area a little. Position the first Adapter exactly as show in the photo. The red arrow marks the PTH that has to be alligned centered. Once Positioned solder all the marked points down and make sure they are properly connected before continuing with the second adapter! After soldering all the necessary points insulate the 2 soler points shown in green. A piece of kapton tape works well. You should do this to be sure there's no unwanted connection occuring between the 2 adapter pcbs. Next up is the second adapter. Just position it above the first adapter using the 2 big holes to allign them and solder down the marked points. Again check continuity before continuing with the next PCB! Last PCB is the HDMI mod itself. You need to position it slightly off centered on the second PCB. The HDMI ports pins will be position it correctly. Just solder down the points that are marked with the red arrows and the install is almos done! Last up is setting the Video mode. You need to add 2 small bridges on the bottom side of the PCB. Just solder in the 2 bridges and the video mode is set correctly! If you want to use the optical out you can easily add a toslink port to the HDMI mod by simply soldering a Transmitter to the 3 marked pins.
  17. Do, all the fucki/ng hdmi solutions of output signal video make REALLY a better picture than the best component ''for the same resolution'', or it's ONLY for not loose quality during passage to hdmi or upscaling ? Thanks and sorry.
  18. Hi guys, So a close friend's og xbox had a loud pop and smoke when he plugged it in last month so I decided to give him a spare 1.4 that I TSOPed, put in a 2TB with all necessary parts. He purchased a Hyperkin HDMI and for some reason the there seems to be interference/noise (see pics) on the 1.4 but not on my 1.1. Composite is fine on both. All the settings are the same on both og xboxes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

Check this out https://makemhz.com/products/xboxhdmi I have preordered one to try. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. I have a TSOPED Xbox PAL console and it is running the 2TB Origins image. I had previously set the the video mode to NTSC and was using the HD resolutions fine no problem with a HD component cable, only trouble was the cable was not good quality and caused a lot of buzzing sound through my speakers. So I bought the Bitfunx HMDI adaptor (think it is similar, if not same as the Pound one). Problem I have now is that I can't seem to use it and display in NTSC HD modes at all. If I set the console to PAL the Xbox shows the EVOX boot screen and then loads the dashboard fine (obviously only in the lowest res PAL mode) If I set the console to NTSC the Xbox shows the EVOX boot screen but then the dashboard won't show as it appears the TV is not receiving a HD signal. I am stuck, is there anything I can try? Thanks in advance.
  21. Hello, I have used the official component cable for my original Xbox for years without any issues, until now. This is what happens: https://youtu.be/RihPxD0JcB0 This only seems to happen on menu's. No problems in-game so far. At first, I thought the cable was damaged, so I bought a Kaico HDMI adapter to replace it, but this is what happens when I use it: https://youtu.be/iLw4o2IqtGE I decided to grab my older Xbox from the attic for testing and both cables work perfectly on that console, so I think the cables are not the issue. I'm no expert at all, so can somebody tell me what's going on with my console? Can it be fixed?
  22. i like to play halo 2 on xlink kai but my vizio 4k tv just makes it not fun. i have adjusted all the settings in the menu to give minimum latency but it's still there. someone pointed out that part of the latency is caused by the fact that the xbox is sending an analog signal to the tv and the tv has to convert it to digital before it can put it to the screen(i know there is inherit input lag in a va panel led tv but that's not what i'm talking about right now). i said all that to ask this question, would one of the hdmi mods for the xbox help solve some of that latency problem by sending a digital signal to the tv? my current setup is using the microsoft hd component adapter and component cables. the tv is a px75-g1. btw, i know it's best to play on a crt but that is difficult right now for several reasons.
  23. Someone know a component adaptater (3 or 5 color connexions) output hdmi with no lose of signal ?
  24. I have recently discovered the stuff you can do with a wii2hdmi adapter, where you can chuck an xbox video connector to the back of it, and have the xbox og output over HDMI. I have just completed this mod, and found it simple enough. The xbox connector itself is however a bit fidly. I think there would be enough room under the DVD drive to mount a board and get hdmi output directly out of the back of the console, which would be alot cleaner in style and easier to use (without having a huge dongle sticking out of the back of the console). Now in order to get video signals, I figured I would just solder to the bottom of the motherboard where the video output connector is connected. I havnt had much play with this connector yet, and had planned to attempt to map it out to the connector., Does anyone have this already, which would make my life a little easier. I am also mindful of the fact that the wires inside the Faraday cage of the xbox would be liable to interference, it is part of my plan to perhaps use cat6 or similar shielded cable between the connections. Has anyone got any thoughts on this?
  25. When it comes to component to HDMI adapters I've seen a few people say there will be a noticeable loss in quality, however does this apply to modding an hdmi port onto the board and is it even worth it to do it?
