  1. I've started to list the game's I've gotten this error with, alongside what method I was using to store them on my HDD Some would outright lock up the whole system. Any idea how I could fix this? If it matters, I'm using Cerbios 2.3.1 UDMA5 on a 1.0 System with a 2TB HDD, obviously with a SATA2IDE adapter. 007 - Everything or Nothing (US, Folder, Stuck on black screen) Psyvarier 2 - Extend Edition (JP, Folder (same results with CCI), Dirty/Damaged Disc) Guilty Gear X2 Reload (US, Folder, Dirty/Damaged Disc) Alien Hominid (EU, Folder, Stuck on a loading screen) Burnout 3 - Takedown (US, Folder, Stuck on a loading screen) Dead Man's Hand (US, Folder, Stuck on a loading screen) Doom 3 (US, Folder, Crashes on start screen) Doom 3 - Resurrection of Evil (US, Folder, Crashes on start screen)
  2. I'm doing a first install of a 2TB HDD and trying to squeeze as many games on it as possible, and hoped that if I could create multiple 256GB (or smaller) partitions it would cut down on cluster size and I'd fit a lot more on it. Is this possible or is the only option a bigger drive?
  3. I want to change the hdd of my xbox with an ssd, because the optical drive is not working, but I know that I need the EEPROM to trick the xbox into thinking that the ssd is its original drive, but I dont really know how to do it without installing a custom firmware on the hdd and then be able to use an FTP to get it (the stock firmware doesn't allow the xbox to connect to a pc via ethernet). Then the only other way to do that is "hotswapping" but it requires an old computer with IDE connections but it's a bit difficult to find one. so if there is another way of doing this, let me know to try it Thank you in advance
  4. I did a recent xbox original upgrade v 1.6 with aladdin xt plus 2 mod chip from aliexpress, ide to sata adapter with 80 wire ide cable and finally a seagate 1 tb hdd. I did an format on the hdd with ogxbox 2021 installation disc. Through the process I selected format F drive with remaining space and skipped the G drive. I checked xbpartitioner v 1.3 and found an ER code beside the 924 GB. My options are in xbpartitioner v 1.3 without ER code are #1. 120 GB for F only #2. 120 GB for F only and 803 for G only. I selected option #2. Would I run into problems down the road if I left the hdd with 924 GB with ER code? I thought the modchip came with M8plus_16.bin with 06 where partition F take remaining space? Does the partitions F and G under games merge on the same screen when selecting from menu? Does the partitions given in xbpartitioner v 1.3 depend on the type of bios and type of hdd?
  5. I'm hoping someone can clarify the process for upgrading my HDD as looking to store games/emulator etc as the end result. I've already prepped the board for a TSOP mod with the links whilst soldering on extra RAM. To upgrade my HDD my understanding is the following: Softmod First? TSOP Then can fit bigger HDD? I've managed to find a unicorn WD Blue IDE 320GB HDD and thinking I could just image the drive and clone using Macrium? Then extend the partition to fill the 320GB drive I have - Would that work or do I need to use any extra/special tools? The information is available in places but it all seems scattered some just say TSOP but others say to TSOP you need to softmod first? It's been a while since I've had time to play with it again - booted up and played some games on it for the first time since fitting the RAM months ago only last night! Thanks
  6. Last year I put together my personally ideal XBox. Decent AV cables, hard-mod, big HDD, quiet fans... all the fun stuff that increased the consoles capabilities and improves the experience. And until last week that XBox was running perfectly fine. However, the console is now completely dead. The PSU is fine, and I tried changing several of the capacitors on the motherboard, but there is simply no life at all. The console just doesn't react at all when the power button (or eject) is pressed. There's not even a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' kind of signal that the console is even receiving power. But, like I said the PSU is fine, that was the first thing I tried. And after several hours of replacing capacitors, trying to find the one that may be stopping the power from reaching the console... I gave up and held a respectful funeral for my short-lived friend. Close friends and family attended. Clearly I'm just trying to add some humour there. But when I did finally run out of components to replace I procured a replacement console to start the project again. That console came, and works fine. However, I cannot use the 2TB HDD I had installed in the previous console. I can't remember when or exactly why I did... but I locked the HDD to the, now dead, console. As such no matter what I connect the HDD to, because of the 'lock' the XBox imposed on the drive; I can't do anything with it. The replacement console can't unlock it, or format it. My PC sees the drive and it's capacity, but is unable to do anything with it. I've tried Windows and Linux, as I though the 'brutish' nature of the latter's terminal commands could break the 'locked' state. But, even Linux doesn't work. Replacing the drive isn't all that much, money-wise. However, it would be a shame if this perfectly functional HDD is now reduced to nothing more than an overengineered door-stop. Although not a massive capacity by modern standards; 2TB could still be useful for many things, if there is some way I can 'unlock' it. As I mentioned above the console it was 'locked' with is completely dead. I cannot find any reason why, but there isn't even the slightest of a glimmer of life at all. I don't know what could cause such a state, and it's confusing that it was working fine a few days before. And just for those who go straight for this suggestion... I already took out the clock capacitor. I've done that on every XBox I've ever had in my possession. It's usually the first thing I do upon opening them up. And just to be clear; I am careful when removing them. I don't force them; I do use a soldering iron and take them out with a delicate touch. Anyway... I have just ordered a replacement 2TB HDD. But, if there's a secret way of reenabling the use of the one I have now; I'm sure I could find a productive use for it. However, after trying a few 'suggestions' already; I am not going to hold my breath. That said; I am open to suggestions. I also want to clarify that the PC motherboards I have are unsuitable for running XboxHDM. The only PC motherboard I have with IDE can't boot from USB, and I don't have an IDE optical drive. And the other (which can boot from USB) doesn't have any IDE connections at all. If memory serves me; XboxHDM need to access the HDD via IDE, even when connecting a SATA HDD (via an IDE-to-SATA adapter). So, unless XboxHDM has changed since I last tried to run it; that particular software won't function properly on the hardware I currently have. Also, because the cost of replacing the HDD is so low, I'm hoping to avoid spending too much, if any money on rescuing this 'locked' HDD. I am just traying to be a little eco-friendly in repurposing it if possible.
  7. Hi guys, Now i've done it..don't know exactly how i did it but i did.. First i softmodded my xbox but after that i had no dashboard when i booted. That was strange but after that i put in a new 2tb hdd and loaded chimp and cloned my hdd to the new hdd and after that i locked the hdd... When i put this 2tb locked hdd in a xbox with openxenium i cant unlock hdd and i cant ftp any files on the hdd. Is there any way to save my hdd? Its a new one.. I hope some one can help me. Pease out
  8. Hello all, Old friend just dug up his OG Xbox. It has an xecuter 2 mod chip. What would I need to do to use a 2TB SATA HDD besides the IDE to SATA adapter? Thanks in advance.
  9. if i bought a xbox that someone had softmodded and then unlocked the hdd and forgot to re-lock it before powering down, what error code would it give?
  10. i've made a few posts in here about my og original xbox and how it has sentimental value to me. i know the hdd will eventually fail on it as all hdd's eventually do. i was thinking of using the softmod exploit just to enable ftp so that i can copy the entire hdd and the eeprom key to my pc. my question is, is there any possible danger in doing this? is it possible that the exploit can mess up my xbox? after i'm finished backing everything up, i want the xbox to be in the same condition it was before i did this. btw, it is a v1.6 and has no mod on it.
  11. the seek time is a little longer than i'd like it to be. is there a way to defrag the hdd to speed up the seek time?
  12. So I recently picked up two virgin OG Xboxes at a thrift shop. A rev 1.1 and 1.4-1.5. took apart cleaned and removed the dreaded clock capacitor. Both working. First time owning OG Xbox. Q: If I Softmod my OG Xbox with Rocky5 and want to add a 2TB HDD SATA (plus 80pin IDE ribbon, IDE to SATA adaptor and clone my old HDD to new HDD), can I do that directly or do I need to do a TSOP Flash too? I reviewed these two videos but no mention a Softmod HDD size limitations. My understanding is 2TB in the max. 13. Hi Guys, I currently have a 500gb hdd installed in my xbox (v1.2), but I'm planning on installing a 2tb hdd , and I just need some clarification on a couple of issues before I buy the larger hdd. My modchip currently has the X2 4981.06 bios, and when I run XBPartitioner v1.3, it warns me that "LBA48 not found! custom partitions will not work with this BIOS! Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2". From what I've read, it sounds as though the hdd limit with this bios should be 137gb, however, as mentioned, I already have a 500gb hdd installed. So my question is, do I actually need to update the bios in order to install a 2tb hdd, or will it function correctly with this bios? I realise that updating the bios would be the easiest solution, however, the modchip is an X.B.I.T v1.0 with the external PCB which connects to a PC via USB to flash the bios. The flashing software requires winXP and specific USB host controllers, and so far, I haven't been able to get it work. Thanks in advance.
  14. Good morning, guys. Would it be possible to have an xbox with 2 hdd by eliminating the dvd player? For example: Eject button dvd= hdd1 Power key = hdd2. Are there any tutorials or guides to make this change? Thank you all.
  15. Is there any way to tsop without the original HDD? If so, can someone please elaborate
  16. Hi, Basically I want to transfer files from my Xbox hdd and make a backup onto my PC. my Xbox has a sata drive installed via IDE to Sata adapter. If I was to just take out the Sata drive and hook it up directly to my PCs motherboard via Sata cable could I put the contents of my hdd onto my PC? Using xplorer or is that not a quicker way to add/remove games? Most people say ftp for everything I’m relatively new to modding any advice is useful thanks
  17. I have 2 XBOXes v1.2 and v1.6 with Rocky5 softmod v1.1.6. I was messing around with the NKPatcher and nulled the HDD drive key on one of them before backing up the EEPROM and now it boots up to error 05. It seems I need to format it using the hotswap method, xboxhdm v1.9 and a backup of the Dashboard from the C partition, which I don't have. Can I use the files from the other XBOX? EDIT: I'm probably looking at it fro the wrong angle... when using the hotswap, won't I get access to the backed up EEPROM in the E partition? Can it be used to restore the HDD?Or is it better to just format it and start from scratch? This subject is still pretty new to me.
  18. Guys, I need to know if you can transfer saves with no issues after you upgrade your HDD, is this possible? I want to upgrade my HDD using Chimp (but I have to wait for my Sata to IDE adaptor to arrive). I have access to FTP the files over ethernet, so that is no problem for me, but, would the saves work on the new HDD?? My eeprom.bin has been nulled already by following Mr. Marios tutorial on Youtube by the way. Please let me know what you guys know please! Thank you all!
  19. I have a 1.0 Xbox that has the dreaded "Christmas Lights" flashing on the eject button. It tries to boot twice before doing its signature Red and Green flashing. Nothing is displayed on the TV so no codes are provided. It also makes a terrible noise when it fails to boot up. After tearing it down completely, cleaning everything top to bottom, removing the clock capacitor (which did not leak thank god), opening and inspecting the DVD drive then hooking everything back up I'm about 99% sure the condition and noise is being caused by a faulty HDD. My question is, assuming my diagnosis is correct, if I bought a SATA HDD (with the proper cables and converter) and installed an Aladdin XT Plus2 Modchip inside would it bring this Xbox back to life? Again, the theory is that the original HDD took a shat so I'm not worried about the DVD drive or motherboard. If there are any other steps I should take (EXCEPT softmodding and replacing the whole console) please let me know. If you require any other information I can also provide it for you. Thank you for your time and help on the matter!
  20. How would you go about replacing a hdd in a dead xbox? mod chips? I've been looking for a tutorial but I can't find anything. Also, everything on the xbox seems to work, so but the hdd is just freaking out with sound, so I assume its the hdd 1.0 btw.
