About Me

  1. Xbox Alpha Kit/Durango. It was sent out to developers of launch titles when the Xbox Dev/Debug hardware was delayed. ======================================================================================================= Xbox Development Kit (XDK) Final Version of the XBOX DEV Kit. It included a SCSI connection in the back to connect to a PCI card in a PC to emulate the dvd drive. Otherwise, it is the same functionally as a Debug Kit. DVT4 on the left. DVT3 on the right with prototype metal jewel. ======================================================================================================= Debug Kit Units Available: Unknown Retail Price: Not for resale Xbox Debug Kits were never available through the retail market, however they have popped up enough on the second-hand scene to be worth mentioning in this article. These Xbox consoles are translucent green and have the words "Debug Kit" on the front of the case, just to the right of controller port 4. Unlike retail consoles (which only contained 64MB of RAM), Xbox Debug Kit consoles had 128MB of RAM. The Debug Kits could not run retail game discs. One could often find pre-release or cancelled versions of game software on these Xbox Debug Kits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 2001 Launch Team Edition Retail Price: Not For Sale Units produced: ~1000 The Xbox Launch Team 2001 Special Edition is a translucent green Xbox with a jewel that is silk screened with the message "Great work!" and a copy of a printed signature from Bill Gates. The words "Special Edition" are printed on the front right of the console. This Xbox was sold, not given, to members of the Xbox launch team including Hardware, ATG, Dev, First Party Games and Games Studios, Marketing, and others. Two exclusive translucent green "Duke" controllers were included. Along with the console, employees had an option to purchase 6 game titles marked "not for resale" at a reduced rate from the Microsoft campus store. The Launch Team 2001 consoles were hardware revision 1.0 and all were produced in a Mexico production facility on November 7, 2001 or November 8, 2001. Since these systems were offered for sale to qualifying employees instead of being given away, not all were sold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= Partner Edition Retail Price: Not For Sale Units produced: ~1000 (Thought to be closer to 60 units) The Partner Edition is a translucent green Xbox with a jewel that is silk screened with the message "Thanks for Partnering with Xbox" and signature from Bill Gates. Unlike the Launch Team consoles, these did not have the "Special Edition" label on the front right of the console. This Xbox was given to hardware companies that produced components for the Xbox such as Nvidia and Intel. A translucent green Controller S was included with this model. These are considered to be more rare than the Launch Team console because of their distribution to companies rather than individual people makes them harder to come across in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 50 Cent BulletProof Units Available: 1 Retail Price: Not For Sale The 50 Cent Pure White Edition Xbox was given away in a promotion by Australian television channel Channel V. It was signed by 50 Cent and is aesthetically similar to the Pure White edition but has "50 Cent Bulletproof" printed in gold to celebrate the release of the video game 50 Cent: Bulletproof. It was given away along with a copy of the game, 50 Cent CDs and a 50 Cent poster.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 50 Cent BulletProof 2 This is the second version of the 50 Cent Bulletproof Xbox. One was released in Australia & one in New Zealand. Thank you Carl Coran. ======================================================================================================= Units Available: 1 Retail Price: Not For Sale The Atari Edition Xbox was given away at the Leipzig Game Convention in 2004, It is one of a kind and is orange in color. Attendees needed to collect all 5 pins that Atari gave away, which spelled ATARI.[9] If the attendee was able to find all 5 pins, they could be entered into the contest, with the winner receiving the one-of-a-kind orange Atari Edition Xbox, an Atari T-shirt, headband, wristband, Atari bracelet, and the original 5 pins. [10] It is worth noting that the Atari Xbox began as a standard black Xbox which was later airbrushed by Atari.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ====================================================================================================== Conkers Xbox console, 3 made for a Conkers tournement in Sydney Australia. Thank you Carl Coran. ====================================================================================================== Crystal Units available: Unknown Retail Price: Unknown The crystal edition Xbox first came out around March 2004 in Europe, celebrating the console's second anniversary in the region. As you may imagine, if you're a high level executive delivering a product you may have to call in a few special favors along the way. What better thank you to certain people than a personalized xbox thank you note? ===================================================================================================== Halo 2 (Asia) Units Available: Unknown Retail Price: $249 On March 18, 2005, an Ice Blue Halo 2 Limited Edition Xbox was released in Canada and Asia. Pictures comparing the console to a Halo Translucent Green version have been posted at the Assembler forums.[6] This has been proven to be a legitimate system, and the thread at the Assembler forums show images of several of these orange Xbox case tops at the factory as production samples. It appears that only 1 of the Orange Xbox consoles escaped destruction. As this is an actual Microsoft produced Xbox from a mold (instead of a painted case), this is likely to be the rarest Xbox console in existence. A video can be seen on YouTube, on the channel "MetalJesusRocks", titled "Ultra Rare HALO XBOX DISCOVERED!" posted on April 24, 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions The previous owner (Emilio) sold it(for $15,000.00), got $9K upfront and opened his own gaming consignment shop. He is still waiting for the remainder of the cash. But the new owner is some girl who owns a competing gaming consignment shop. It's a museum of sorts, but not like you'd think. It's currently located in Renton WA http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/2001-launch-team-xbox-how-many.62327/page-2 ================================================================================================= Units Available: 1300 Retail Price: ¥35,800 JPY On December 19, 2002, a Panzer Dragoon Orta Special Edition Xbox was released in Japan to commemorate the release of Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox. The console's special features included a white case with the Panzer Dragoon Orta logo on the top in the lower left hand corner, as well as some artwork from Orta surrounding the Xbox jewel. Unit was only available to those who preordered on Nov 1, 2002, through Sega Direct. Included with the Special Edition console was a matching white Controller S, an Xbox Component A/V cable, an Xbox Component AV pack, a copy of Panzer Dragoon Orta with its soundtrack CD, and a dragon head necklace. When the console was first planned, 3,000 units were set to be produced, but during production the process of applying the silk screen design of the black lines seen on the top of the console proved to be a very difficult task. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Pure White Units Available: 1,000 Retail Price: Unknown The Pure White Xbox was only sold in Japan with the option to engrave up to 20 letters.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Skeleton Black Units Available: 50,000 planned - 10,000 sold Retail Price: ¥35,800 JPY In 2001, a Clear Black Limited Edition Xbox (also commonly referred to as the "smoke" edition) was released in Japan to commemorate the Xbox's Japanese release. It appears to have been a gift given out at a company party. It is most likely full of roaches... wherever it is. ================================================================================================= Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Units Available: 10 Retail Price: Not For Sale The Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Special Edition Xbox was issued in October 2004 in conjunction with Activision and online skater magazine caughtinthecrossfire in the United Kingdom. This special edition console was only available as a winner's prize at skateboarding and gameplay competitions to commemorate and promote the release of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on the Xbox. The artwork was airbrush painted by hand in an urban graffiti style with translucent matte lacquer finish. The artwork covered the top of the case and followed the X shape downwards on the corners of the Xbox. A very limited production run of 10 graffiti style units was commissioned and was issued "Not For Resale". Included with the THUG2 Special Edition console was a matching Crystal Controller S and a Tony Hawk autographed copy of Tony Hawk's Underground 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Translucent Green (Not Halo or Debug) Units Available: 20,000 Manufactured - 5,000 sold (Europe) Retail Price: €229/£149 On May 2, 2003 a Translucent Green Limited Edition Xbox(rare) was released in Europe to celebrate Xbox's one-year European birthday. The console came with two matching Controller S and retailed for €229/£149. It had a limited manufacture of 20,000 units but only sold 5,000 units(in Europe). The styling of the Translucent Green Xbox is identical to Debug Units used in game development; of course, the retail versions lacked the words "Debug Kit" on the front of the case. The green Controller S was also sold separately. The Translucent Green Limited Edition Xbox was also released in Canada and came with one matching Controller S and two games, Crimson Skies and Project Gotham Racing 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Units Available: 200,000 Retail Price: $200 USD On April 2, 2004, Microsoft issued a press release announcing the upcoming retail availability of the Halo Limited Edition Xbox combo.[5] The Xbox console and its included S Controller were translucent green with "Halo" written on the front of the console, at the right hand side, near controller port 4. This unit appears very similar to the Translucent Green "Debug Kit" Xbox consoles, only replacing the words "Debug Kit" with the "Halo" logo.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= World Racing Units Available: 6 Retail Price: Not For Sale The World Racing Xbox was only given away in Germany in a contest.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= EA Xbox Live White` Quantity: 30 This Special Edition console was given to Electronic Arts to celebrate their support of the nascent XBOX Live service. I am told there are 60 of the controllers that match in existence, and two came with the console. If these numbers are correct, this indicates that only 30 of these consoles were ever produced.http://imgur.com/gallery/ETwhl MSN Crystal Quantity: 1? This special edition was only recently discovered. Nothing is known about it for certain. It was most likely part of MSN's gaming zone offering.
  2. I've been having this issue for a while, and I am not sure where to write about it. I mentioned it in a post a few years ago, but now have more information but it makes the whole thing even more baffling. I am using an Original v1.4 Xbox (Halo Green Edition) There are a handful of games that my Xbox just refuses to play, period. Originally, the only games I knew didn't work properly were Stubbs the Zombie, Psy-Ops and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. They both would freeze at specific spots during the game, Stubbs during the "Don't do drugs" and Psy-Ops the final battle. Stubbs example - https://youtu.be/hO2w5w1KKFs With Stubbs, I tried it on my Xbox 360 and it worked perfectly without issue. So, I thought it was just a bad eye, or DVD-Drive. Drive picture - https://i.imgur.com/sMV3iMj.png I recently modded my system so that I could play Back-ups and preserve my discs, and low and behold...... the same issue is still happening.. even when played off HD, and there are more games! For example, with Stubbs.. I tried from disc, dvd2drive to play it off the HD, I went and got another disc from a local retro GameStore, and even found a back-up online to try out... and all freeze up exactly at that spot. Now I am finding other games with the same issue. Hulk: Total Destruction friezes when you start the game. Gauntlet Seven Sorrows freezes up after a few minutes of starting the game proper, it seems to be related to certain music tracks, but don't quote me. Once again, I've tried playing it on Disc, off HD, and even going out of my way to try a back-up I found on the net (both burned to DVD, and from HD) and it's the same results. Yet it works fine in my Xbox 360...... Seven Sorrows HardDrive - https://youtu.be/sE_dQsfw-lc Seven Sorrows DVD - https://youtu.be/xj8nMN3cLFY Seven Sorrows 360 - https://youtu.be/RdiYtq0Atyc (Runs with no issue) I did remove a bad clock/time capacitor as recommended. I am using the StarTech IDE2SATA with a 2TB Crucial SSD. Hardmodded my system with an open xenium chip. Here are some internal shots https://i.imgur.com/aAJkDMl.png https://i.imgur.com/qtmAh2x.png https://i.imgur.com/JzQEk8R.png https://i.imgur.com/llRixDK.png https://i.imgur.com/3IWYJ2N.png https://i.imgur.com/2ohDFWG.png https://i.imgur.com/MO0rsR9.png https://i.imgur.com/cf0opZT.png https://i.imgur.com/1VZ4Mez.png The High Voltage Capacitor on the PSU seems to reflect silver when I use the flash, so here's a better look at it. https://i.imgur.com/cdnAVqD.png https://i.imgur.com/Bm4ybuf.png So I want to know what is going on? Other games work just fine, I played through Robocop (2003) on my Xbox just last week with no issue and a few other games. Why do these handful of games crash, is it a bad chip? capacitor? Has anyone found an issue like this? Thank you all in advance!
  3. Hey guys, looking for some ideas to troubleshoot the red HDD activity LED on my X3CP. It stays on and is not blinking to show activity. I just did a DVD drive swap from a Samsung to a Hitachi, and I repasted the CPU/GPU. Made sure the jumper on my startech sata adapter is set to Master. not really sure why its staying on all the time. You guys got any ideas? After messing around with swapping DVD drives, I have figured out it's my 80way IDE cable that's causing the issue. When I swapped out the cable the LED worked like it should. Does anyone know a fix for this? The IDE cable I'm using is the perfect length, so I really want to use it. I noticed some jumper pins on the back of some of the DVD drives, the Hitachi and Philips drives have these pins, are they used for serial connection or are they master/slave jumpers?
  4. Hi all, bit of a story here. I got an HDMI kit for my xbox recently, dug out the old girl and it worked great...except the display was going black for a second or more during games. Not crashing, just briefly losing sound and video. It was doing this on component as well, which was why I stopped using it in the first place. I assumed my component-HDMI adapter was faulty. I was sure it wasn't related to the HDMI kit, so I decided to mess with different video modes (with enigmah and the settings in evox) I now get no sound at all in games...except Beyond Good and Evil. Dashboard (ie XBMC also has UI sound). The problem also happens with legit PAL discs. The system region is PAL-60. I recently updated to Rocky5 using the extras ISO which comes with the softmod kit, so I'm as confident as I could be that the softmod isn't the issue either. Can anyone help please?

  6. Hi everyone! I come to you with the following problem. I have an XBOX 1.1 in which no controller port works. The console is unmodified and has not been opened before. I took it apart to replace the clock capacitor. Before the replacement, the ports did not work either. There is a picture and sound. XBOX asks to set the time but it is impossible. I have two controllers. One original and one non-original. The non-original one I tested on a PC and it worked there, the other one I haven't tested yet. The other controllers I do not have. I checked the motherboard looking for broken paths, but I did not find such, however, I will check again. There is corrosion around the clock capacitor. Especially at the components R7G1, R7G2, R7G3 and Q7G1. It seems to me that the corrosion is only superficial, but I would prefer to replace these components. I found information that R7G2 has a value of 1.1 kOhm (SMD code 112) unfortunately I could not find anything about R7G1 and R7G3. Q7G1 is npn transistor - MMBT3904LT1. The question is whether these components are related to non-functioning controllers //edit I forgot to write, there is a voltage of 4.95V on the power pins, in the controller ports
  7. Hi i have wire and motherboard mount for pc the only part missing in board that send power using atx power supply i need some to build me one and yes i will pay you also $300 to $500 usd.
  8. Hi everyone, since I dusted off my ogxbox I’ve been lurking in the background. It ran backups fine but that wasn’t enough, I had to touch it. Down the rabbit hole we go then. You’re all invited on my journey from grasshopper to sensei. Or me stumbling blindly while people shout instructions. As long as I get to my destination, I don’t really mind. Rob
  9. it's really cool. they are still sending out invite codes if u request one. it works on stock, softmodded, and hard modded xbox's. the player base is dwindling because people think there aren't enough players and that is a self defeating problem. the service works really well and they add new games to it often. also, join the discord server https://discord.gg/CWkdVdc
  10. Tried paying the 5$ to avoid this but of well. Paypal doesn't work for me as payment. Oh well. So hello!
  11. OG xbox is apparently next. I believe the console is stock and I believe the original HD has failed. Thats what I will be focused on.
  12. Hello everyone! i am an engineer by trade and currently working towards cybersecurity certs. Hardware hacking seems to be a big part of the pen testing scene, and a friend recommended that i try xbox hacking as a starting point, as it could then develop my taste for the grind that comes with learning hacking. Right now just looking around for tools and the like to try out and get used to, any recommendations are welcome.
  13. Okay, what is going on these days? Where are all the modchips? We had the OpenXenium being mass produced and sold just a short while ago, but this chip can now be only found on eBay and what not. Stellar is coming, but it's a bit expensive. Why is the crap-ass Aladdin, which has some serious flashing issues and no bios management... OR more than 256k of storage, the ONLY chip that's still being mass produced? Am I missing something?
  14. Hi everyone, I fell in love with the Xbox the moment I unwrapped it Christmas morning in 2003. Its been almost 20 years now and I've got the itch to go back and play some of the old favorites. I currently have a mystery 20$ Ebay special sitting on my table. I can't wait to crack into it and discover what is wrong with it. I'm sure I'll have many questions and appreciate any advice you all have.
  15. I’m new to this modding scene so hoping to learn a lot from the expertise on this forum, thanks. D
  16. Spent the last few weeks modding the thing and just noticed this Besides from trace rot (which I don't have the skills or time to fix), could it be anything else I can try? It happens even with the AV cable disconnected, so it's not that short circuiting. Thanks heaps guys.
  17. Hello at all guy. I am from italy.I have 3 xbox classic and like videogame general. Thanks
  18. Wanted to say hi, and that I'm looking forward to joining a forum again. I have an OG crystal 1.6 with X3 chip and a 120gb HD. Looking to update it with a sata drive, and maybe fresh bios (not sure if there are updates) I also have an early release black OG with a very old 2.1 xecuter chip (I think). I plan on having a play with that one, maybe a fresh install etc. What are good mods now, favorite menus?? I used mine for XBMC mostly, back in the day. Alos looking forward to playing "The Path of Neo" again, after watching the new film.
  19. I made a modded version (details soon) of the Xecuter 3 bios to theoretically boot on all chips (it was tested on a 1.0/1.1 TSOP, SmartXX and Xenium chip). It is 1024k bios so you can't flash it on a 1.2-1.4 tsop. (Config Live won't work because most if not all except x3 chips don't have a dedicated EEPRom) Warning: This modded version hasn't been tested on every modchip so don't try to flash it, if you have no way to recover as it might could brick your chip. Download: https://goo.gl/bJy9g1 Thanks to xbox7887 for testing it on his Xenium Box and 1.0/1.1 TSOP. (Basically just a repost from my Reddit post)
  20. I have an old Xbox that has an Xecuter 2 chip installed, it still has the stock HDD so i'd like to upgrade it to a 500GB SATA. Weirdly I cannot physically see any chip soldered to the board, I can see some yellow wires going out the front of the console so i'm not sure if this is where the chip is located? (see pic). In any case I have downloaded the HeXen 2018 installation disc, and I have the necessary parts required to convert from IDE to SATA. Is this disc capable of setting up a HDD with this chip? I took a couple of pics showing my kernel and the fact my current HDD is locked:
  21. I have had a 200GG Seagate and X3 chip since it was released and recently I decided I wanted to try an SSD. I got a 2TB SSD Loaded it up made my way to getting the partitions setup with a split between F/G as 64k sectors and moved all files over. When I run my games however the save files are all unavailable. I'm figuring there is something to this but of everything I've found I've not found anything to address this. Also when I run burnout 3 I'm limited to like 30-40km/h. Just not sure what I"m missing with this.
  22. Hi I am after a full list of every component that soldered to the Xbox motherboard, all revisions. Caps are well covered high voltage transistors I can find a little yet nothing on resistors and other assorted ICs. If any one has a full list or any list I then may be able to compile a list myself. Thanks in advance for any help
  23. Hi guys, I've got tons of Xbox originals over last 2 years and i always see the same problem with Samsung drives - they are not reading at all. Tweaking pot doesn't help. Laser beam is there, it is not weak. Lens is not dirty, tried to clean all of them. My guess was maybe these are capacitors on the drive board? The issues is i can't desolder them without tearing of the pads. Stupid, i know but really they are so fragile there or whatever is he reason. Plus I'm not sure on some of them in terms of specs. So, what do you think? 1. Can it be capacitors? something else? 2. If it is probably capacitors, anyone has all the ratings? Thanks!
  24. Hello this is my first post. I'm new here and hope to learn a lot from everyone. Joseph
