  2. Hello everybody. I'm currently getting back into the Xbox OG modding scene after a long break. . . I currently have two modded Xbox's with different chips fitted, currently trying to ID what chips are currently fitted?? One of the Xbox's has a large hard drive fitted, and the other is standard, any recommendations on what hard-drive to go for.? Best regards Josh
  3. i flash custom evox bios, after that it just not boot, and switches to stock bios. i use raincoat to flash. board is 1.6 and i use evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin from aid 4.5.3 i have no idea what i do wrong. i then reflash it with hexen 2017 and it work OK.
  4. As above, The chipped xbox I mod'd a while ago with the SD card reader is locking up after the flubber screen. It displays the Ind Bios screen then just locks up totally. What is likely to cause this? Hardware or something to do with the SD card? Cheers guys
  5. Hi, recently got my xbox out of the loft, must have been there at least 10-12 years. It has an aladdin modchip inside and when booted up holding the power button shows executer2 under the xbox logo. I've been getting the error 16 code when booted up normal and if I put my original hard drive in i get error 5. Ive removed the clock capacitor and cleaned up around the area it was. I've tried to use both hexen and slayer dvd-r both burned using imgburn at 2x speed but after the flubber animation and xbox logo the screen goes blank. I've left the xbox running whilst on blank screen for around 2 hours to see if there is any change but there isn't. Xbox had Agent under fire in with it also so I'm assuming it has something to do with the modchip? I'm also new to all this modchip etc Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  6. It goes through intro and goes to profiles whereas it used to go emulator menu. I live in Missouri and can't find anyone to help. My email address is stuckernicholas@protonmail.com. I'm willing to compensate anyone that can help. It belongs to a 6yr old as I got it for him last Christmas. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Ty
  7. I swapped in a 1TB HDD replacing my original 10GB drive. Is there any reason to hold on to the old hard drive at this point or can I safely recycle it?
  8. Basics: XBox 1.4 with iND TOSP 5003 (also tried the 5004) / "Rest is stock" Yesterday i have changed some of the old caps which are bulky. I started with the 3 in front of the CPU and the clock cap. Everything went pretty smooth. Then i changed one of the 1500uF 6,3V "metal" caps (In the Picture (which isn't mine!) market with a question mark). Then i testet the box again cuz the cap was a little bit of a hassle because of the old solder. After that i noticed realy high temps on the GPU and a higher temp on the CPU. I have to admid that i didn't paid to much attencion on the temps after i testet the box in the first place. Shame on me. So i fired up my other 1.4 to compare the temps. The result of it is, that the one with the new caps has a ~10°C to 15°C hotter CPU and a ~20°C to 25°C hotter GPU (~55°C - 60°C) on idle! So i ripped out the 1500uF 6,3V and put the old (metal one) back but still high temps. I assume now that the problem are the three caps in front of the CPU (3300uF 6,3V). Could that be possible? I mean they are about 4000uF for what i have testet them before i soldered them in... That give me a little headache now. Any ideas? Greets Mrs. Edit : Stupid me, forgot the picture.
  9. I tried to upgrade my V1.0 Xbox with 4 Samsung version F RAM chips but it won’t boot. I’ve got an OpenXenium mod chip installed but I’ve tried booting both with and without yet it still flashes. Anyone know what this means/ anyway to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
  10. I got an xbox cheap as the drive didn't open - easy fix I thought and was delighted to find it was indeed an easy fix and that the drive worked. I turned it off and came back 6 hours later to find it was quite warm on the side where the power supply is located inside the xbox. Is this normal or something to worry about? Thanks in advance.
  11. i, like many others, started having problems with my xbox after replacing the thermal paste. graphics glitching, freezing, frag'ing, and sometimes it would just go into a coma on me. it appears that the problem is that some of the solvent for cleaning the thermal paste gets underneath the gpu chip and causes a short. 1st off, i do not recommend replacing the thermal paste on these consoles but if u already have and are now having problems then here is how to fix it. get a bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol with a squirt top on it(i suggest a quart bottle), hold the motherboard on it's side, and squirt the alcohol all over it. be certain that plenty is going under the gpu. next, take a hair dryer and dry the board very well. be careful not to get it too hot. a good rule of thumb is that if any part of the board is uncomfortable to lay your hand on and keep it there, then it is too hot and should be allowed to cool. next, sit the board in the xbox, hook up the psu, connect a tv and power on the system a few times to be certain that it appears to be working before full reassembly. BE CERTAIN TO REAPPLY THERMAL PASTE AND HEATSINKS BEFORE POWERING ON! i'm not certain that it will overheat the chips without the heatsinks for a quick test but it isn't worth the risk. this fixed my xbox that i was concerned i had forever killed.
  12. SO when I turn it on, it starts and stops a few times before it finally gets going and then when it does I get no image or sound and the light just flashes red and green. At first I thought it was my IDE adapter on my new hard drive, but when I replaced the unnamed brand one with a startech it still did it. To be clear, my xbox DOES work if I keep fucking with the power button and I can play games normally (Have not extensively tested to see if it randomly shuts off or anything after a long period of time. Anyone know what the problem could be?

  14. It has been a long time since I softmodded my ogxbox halo special edition. Used to softmod for friends and possibly 20 xboxes passed by my house for softmodding. Looking for what's new in softmodding because I want to finally put a bigger hard drive.
  15. Hello, I have an original Xbox (can't determine which version, looks like 1.4 or 1.5) modded with Aladdin Advance. It worked well until today - I decided to update the bios with EvoX D.6 EjectFix (checksum 74c6235497f474bf88b54b3fc52a20b2). Bin file with it was placed on my HDD so I presumed that it's ok to flash it. After flashing, my Xbox turned off and when I turned it on, it startet to FRAG (two green flashes, then green/red flash with no video). What have I done? How I can undone it?
  16. I updated urldownloader last night, and I don’t know if it hung up on the install or what, but now I’m locked up. When I boot up, I get the same message saying it was updated, with an OK button. I click the button and it goes away but I’m locked up. Not sure what to do.
  17. i pulled my version 1.6 apart about a week ago to change the thermal paste on it. i wasn't able to get the gpu completely clean so i put some new paste on it and reassembled while i waited for my arcti-clean order to get here. the system did great during this time. today, i pulled it apart and cleaned it better this time and reapplied thermal paste. after doing that, i was testing a game(i also serviced the dvd reader) and it froze on me(i thought it was because of the dvd reader). i restarted the console and kept playing. the xbox seemed to do fine for several minutes of playing the game. so i turned my attention to getting the disk tray to function correctly. i was opening it and shutting it multiple times when the system suddenly started glitching graphically. i let it do it for just a few seconds while i wondered what the heck was going on and then i pulled the power cord. when i tried plugging it back in, the xbox started frag'ing. to make a long story short, the point i'm at now is that i can let the system stay unplugged for an hour or so and plug it back in and it will function fine for just a few minutes. after that, it will start graphically glitching or freeze. it will do this with both the dvd/hdd drives installed but also with them both completely removed(including the ide cable). it doesn't appear to be frag'ing anymore and i don't think the processors are getting too hot. none of the caps appear to be bulging. any idea what's wrong with this thing? google is not being very helpful.
  18. i pulled apart my 1.6, cleaned and repasted the the heat sinks, and cleaned and greased the dvd drive. i was cycling the dvd drive trying to get the tray to operate correctly when all of a sudden the system started having weird artifacting on the screen. i turned it off and un plugged it and then plugged it back in and it started frag'ing. what's going on?
  19. I recently took my old xecuter 2 modded 1.4 xbox out of storage and have replaced the drive and removed the clock cap and its working great. The only issue is if i power off for a few mins and then power on I get a blank screen and it wont boot. If i disable the mod chip and go into the normal OS its looking to set the time(fair enough as i removed the cap). Once i set the time and enable the mod chip it boots fine. Is there a way to hard set the time so this doesn't always happen. My UnleashX front end gets the time from the internet correctly anyway. Any help or guidance appreciated guys.
  20. Hey Everyone, weird issue. I got a xbox 1.0 off ebay, it needed a DVD drive, ordered one and installed. System worked fine, I was able to softmod with no issues. I then removed the clock capacitor, fixed 1 trace that was bad for the power button (power/eject button work perfectly now, prior to this, no power button, but eject worked) soldered the 2 points for TSOP write (1 onto of mobo 1 on bottom) and proceeded to tsop flash the system using truhexen 2019.I have a 1.0 so I'm assuming a 1MB TSOP if I understand things I've read online, and loaded a 512kb bios from the hexen disk that was for 1.0-1.5, IRC it was x2. bios with F only, I was only given 4 options, all 4 x2, F and F&G, F 420p & F&G 420p. After the flash, the system rebooted and worked fine. I powered off system, removed the HDD and replaced it with what I wanted to upgrade to, and now all I get is FRAG, put the original drive back in, same thing. it attempts to boot 2 times, then the 3rd time its a FRAG. What might I have done wrong? Thanks everyone in advance! ~John
  21. I have a xbox. I softmodded then removed softmod. All went well. Softmodded with unleashx and later removed. All was fine. Then yesterday went to softmod with sid. In middle of process or at end xbox shuts down like normal. Then turned back on and now red/green flashing ring and video is not working. Any ideas? I have tried letting the clock reset but made a sure not to leave the console off more than about 5 to 10 minutes. I have left it on all night trying to find a solution. I am worried if I unplug it or power it off much longer it may turn into a brick. Any ideas? I loaded and backed up everything correctly. I have 2 video cables and checked that as well and no dice any help would be appreciated. The video im sure went out with the new softmod install. Not sure why. Any help would be appreciated. Id rather fix than throw it at the wall lol.
  22. Hi everyone, my IDE cable upgrade finally come after faffing about trying to get it to fit I get error 09, swapped back to stock IDE boots perfectly. I've attached a screenshot of the cable I used and people in the reviews say it worked for them but I'm not sure there true as the IDE connectors seam the wrong way round. Thanks all for your advice.
  23. Greetings! I am very new to the OG XBOX (both the console and the forums). I have a 1.4v xbox that I have dusted off recently to install Open Xenium chip. The console was a bit dirty, so I gave it a good cleaning, removed the clock capacitor (which had just started to leak), replaced the fan with a Nexus, and installed the new open Xenium chip. The system seems to be running great and immediately boots into the Xenium OS screen when powered on. The problem: no controller inputs are recognized in any of the controller ports (I've tried with four different working controllers). So basically I boot to Xenium OS, but cannot select any of the menu options. (I should also mention that before the Xenium install, everything had been working fine). Now, when this first happened, naturally my thought was that I had not properly reconnected the ports back to the motherboard, but upon checking they seemed to be well connected (I cleaned the ports and reconnected for good measure). I have looked at the traces on the motherboard and they seem fine. I imagine the chip install went okay since I can boot into Xenium OS(?) Port have been cleaned thoroughly. The only thing I have not tried is swapping the 1&2 ports with the 3&4 ports (in case there is a problem with port #1, and Xenium OS will only recognize input from Port #1???) Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? It seems odd that none of the 4 controller ports are working, and all I am left with is an idle Xenium OS screen on my system. Could it be a single bad solder joint on the Xenium chip?Could it be that Port #1 is busted? Thanks for the help!
  24. Hi All, After successfully TSOPing my 1.4 xbox, I can no longer load the Hexen disc. Is this normal? I am running unleash X as my dashboard. I was able to load the Hexen disc to complete my initial TSOP, but not anymore. Any thoughts?
