  1. Sooo..... chinese IDE 80 way cable to sata adapter (Master jumper available and enabled)... "aladdin advance" modchip with SST chip. 2TB drive yada yada... been working fine for years. with Evox Wanted Cerbios because... y'know - new toysnstuff.... Flashed the default 2.3.1 Beta - All working well - lovely stuff. Then... I thought I'd try the one with UDMA4 on the end. Now - no video output. At all. my TVs all say (no signal)... This is with component and with composite. Green lights come on on power on - flashing if I push the eject button to turn on. (I heard there was a "safe mode" udma2). But alas no video. Did my flash go bad? It seemed to complete the flash just fine in EvolutionX flasher for both the standard 2.3.1 Beta, and for the "UDMA4" version. But dead now. Any ideas? zero cost option I guess is remove the modchip and TSOP flash (I think it's a 1.4 board definitely not 1.6)? Or try to get a disc to load hexen 2021??? the DVD drive seems to try to open (I can force it with the little pokey hole thing - the eject rubber band is dry)... Or do I have to buy a chip flasher... wanna avoid money spend if possible! lol! Thanks folks!
  2. Hi, I recently searched the attic to get my original xbox back out, while up there I found a crystal version that I don't remember getting and set it up to see if it worked. It is fully working and has a Aladdin XT wired in it, the bios is EvoX M8 v16. I have been trying to find a tutorial on fitting a larger HD, probably a 500gb and wondered if anyone could advise or point me towards a tutorial if possible. I have been reading and watching videos for the last 2 days and tbh am more confused now, I thought I would be able to clone the original onto a bigger drive using the xbox and then just rip my disks to the drive. Would this Aladdin XT support the newer Cerbios or XBMC4Gamers ?. Any help/info would be appreciated greatly.
  3. Hi, Long story short i brought a v1.1 Board and PSU- TSOP with x2_5035 BIOS i was told from the seller, Then brought a Stock faulty xbox (Trace rot), installed new board and PSU into the faulty xbox, Kept he stock HDD and DVD Drive from the faulty Xbox...... Anyway powers up (No Flubber) say's EXECUTER2 CONFIG LIVE LOADING..... and stays on that screen, Eject button FRAG's Is it looking for somthing from the HDD? I did try Hexen and various other Installer DVD's that work on my other consoles. Faulty DVD drive? Im a total TSOP noob and would appreciate some advice please, Theres a video i upped to my Dropbox so you can see what im talking about. Thanks all. https://www.dropbox.com/s/d4t4sh6u1k9zvp0/PXL_20221128_181143241.mp4?dl=0
  4. Hi, I have a 160GB IDE drive in use but i want to swap it for a bigger 2TB HDD. I bought 2 cheap IDE/SATA converters from Ali (different brands) but both keep failing. Anybody a suggestion for a good one? Thank you!
  5. Im quite embarassed to have to admit this, but im finding some of this modding stuff quite difficult dispite being an electrical/electronic engineer and have worked as a technician a various roles for over 30 years.Maybe its my age?I have got myself in a jam, I wanted to remove xbmc emustation and go back to unleash (sorry) but i was struggling to get emustation to work.Ive ended up with the Fatal error msg. (XBMC Fatal Error:No suitable skin version foundWe require at least version 2.1000IP Address: 192.168.0.6Starting FTP server...)Further more prior to this, i have been struggling to make a ISO image of extras disc.everytime ive downloaded it from git hub 613mb, when i try to unzip it i get an error msg from winzip?also if i try to make an ISO image and open zip file with imgburn or similar the folder appears to be empty?what am i doing wrong?from the XBMC Fatal error screen, can i just drag and drop something to rescue this from pcp using FTP client.I want to weep!!!! Paul B aka Masterbateson p.s. Just found out there is a slight fly in my ointment, in as much as when i fished out my laptops DVD drive, i found out its only a ROM so untill i can sort something out I cant burn a disc.I was kinda hoping I could FTP the missing files to the HDD or boot from my Memory stick, i was hoping like when ive recovered a pc b4 using a recovery image on a usb drive.Guess Xbob doesnt play like that.suppose im going to have to find somewhere to burn a disc, annoying thing is Ive several old full size dvd re writers kicking about in the attic. Thanks again for help, will sort disc out 1st b4 i try anything else.cheersMrB
  6. I have an xbox with a X3 CE chip installed with the attached bank switches. I was able to update to flashbios 3.0.1. Bank 1234: on on off off This xbox does not get passed the Xecuter boot screen when I short press the power button (chip enabled). If I long press the power button (chip disabled) I get code 13. If I long press the power button with an original xbox game in the DVD drive the game runs no issues. I am also able to reach the flashBios screen by long pressing the eject an power buttons together. I bought this xbox a while back and have been trying to make it work properly. I believe I'm missing another bios file but I'm really not sure. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I have been thinking on and off for the last 6 years about whether to softmod my Xbox, as I have been afraid of messing something up and losing my data. I'm a fairly casual user of the system, the only thing I want to softmod for is DLC for Battlefront and Halo 2. After that's done I might just remove the softmod, or at least find a way to boot straight into the original dashboard and avoid the mod part. By now I do not remember what revision my Xbox is, but I am nearly certain it's not a 1.6. I have already removed the clock capacitor, which I have heard complicates things with softmods as they can get stuck in a clock loop. My main question in this thread is, which softmod is the safest given I have removed the clock cap and also to avoid losing my HDD data? I have not found concrete info on this elsewhere so I want to get direct advice before I proceed. I have thought about just buying a second Xbox to mod but it seems like a risk given mine is in perfect functional condition and a used one could be all kinds of work.
  8. Hi peeps, i just upgraded my 160Gb to a 500Gb Sata. New 80 wire ide cable etc, cloned with Chimp 261812 which took 6 hours to clone drive F where the games are installed........ Rebooted xbox and F is only showing 120Gb, so i used XBpartitioner to resize it which deleted all my games lol aggrrraaaaaaaaa..... Then F only was showing just under 300Gb ? The only way i could get my 500Gb was split it over F and G. My setup is Xbox v1.2 Softmod Rocky5 latest version Sata adapter the green one with the 2 capacitors and jumper on the right 80 wire IDE cacble 500Gb Sata WD HDD Thanks all for any advice, i really appreciate it.
  9. I have an old Xbox that has an Xecuter 2 chip installed, it still has the stock HDD so i'd like to upgrade it to a 500GB SATA. Weirdly I cannot physically see any chip soldered to the board, I can see some yellow wires going out the front of the console so i'm not sure if this is where the chip is located? (see pic). In any case I have downloaded the HeXen 2018 installation disc, and I have the necessary parts required to convert from IDE to SATA. Is this disc capable of setting up a HDD with this chip? I took a couple of pics showing my kernel and the fact my current HDD is locked:
  10. Hello Friends I think this has 2 x 512mb banks on this chip. On bank 1 I have xecuter x5035 and when I switch to bank 2 I get a blank screen, so I presume its empty. I am going to use @sweetdarkdestinyinstaller disc 2021 as it has everything! Is there any software to check this correctly? I have tried the BIOS checker on @sweetdarkdestiny installer disc and it doesn't actually state x5035 but one of the dashboards does identify it. I was thinking of keeping x5035 on bank 1 and flash Evox M8Plus_1.6 nodvd on bank 2. I believe x5035 uses a config ini file to modify its settings, and I can use Evox m8 x4gamers EEC and ignore the presence of the DVD drive. I presume I can do this on the x5035 via the ini to point to x4gamers dash and ignore the DVD? If this all sounds right, which app should use to keep bank 1 and flash 2 as there is a x2 flasher software. I can see an x2config under the BIOS on the installer DVD. @sweetdarkdestinyrecommends "2.2. Flash ModChip or TSOP (No Winbond/Sharp TSOP!)." and there is "2.2.3. Flash Xecuter Bios (XBox v1.0/v1.5)." but I have a v1.6 Sorry for all these questions, I have been thinking about this for days and need your advice. Thank you
  11. Hello Friends I got my 1.6 Crystal modded with XE2.6 chip down from the loft. It still worked loading the games off the HD! However, it wouldn't eject, so I took it apart and replaced the rubber belt and that fixed it. Next the drive wouldn't read clean original discs, so I cleaned all the dust away, cleaned the runner rods and replaced the grease with a metal / plastic lubricant, but no luck. So I tested the POT resistance which was 1.35k ohms. I carefully adjusted it slowly by 0.1k ohms steps. When I got to about 0.9k ohms the XBOX would just turn on for a second and turn off, then on and off and now flashing red lights on the eject button. I opened up the DVD case and as expected, the laser isn't working. So I presume the laser has died and because of this the XBOX won't boot? I plan to swap my working DVD drive to prove its the DVD thats died and thats why it won't boot. But I thought modded BIOS's removed the dependancy of must having a DVD drive? If I remember I flashed the X5035 BIOS many years ago. Does this mean this BIOS does have the DVD drive dependancy and I need to upgrde the BIOS to a later version? Once I test this XBOX with my working DVD drive, should I use @sweetdarkdestiny's OGXBox Installer 2021 to upgrade the BIOS? If so, what one should I use? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance
  12. Hello, I'm looking for some advice around improving my FTP speeds. I'm using WinSCP and both my Xbox and PC are connected to my router via Ethernet cables. I'm using XBMC4Gamers as my main dash but am loading into UnleashedX for FTP since I've read it should be faster. From what I've seen speeds approaching 10MB/s (even slightly above) should be common... Still, when transferring to the console I'm currently lucky to get speeds of over 1MB/s - they're usually much lower and often only around 250KB/s. For some reason transferring from the Xbox to my PC gives much faster speeds at around 5MB/s. I've tried playing around with the max connections in UnleashedX, I had it set to 10 and have since set it to 2 and haven't seen any real improvement.
  13. I've removed the clock capacitor and I'm considering replacing the remaining capacitors in both my 1.0 and 1.4 model Xbox consoles. I can't see any obvious bulging issues but from what I've read after having the consoles in storage for 10+ years it's a matter of when rather than if they will fail. Most capacitor kits I see for the Xbox only include a handful of capacitors rather than a complete set. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Xbox-V1-2-1-5-Capacitor-Kit-3pcs-3300uF-6-3V-SANYO-WG-Super-Low-ESR/233613510241?hash=item3664734661:g:axcAAOSwHjxe3Z4~ Are there only specific capacitors that I should worry about replacing? Or should I aim to replace all capacitors on the board - even including the PSU? Or should I wait for issues to arise and just replace them when they need it. Thanks in advance for your wisdom
  14. i am very strongly considering modding a v1.0 xbox. i want to install every official xbox game that was ever made onto it along with all the patches and dlc. i already have an alladin chip. can y'all give me a quick list of each item that i will need to do this mod and how big of an hdd will i need? thank u.
  15. I purchased a second hand XBox from eBay. The console came with an Aladdin Advance mod-chip already installed. This chip looks different to other "Aladdin" chips in that it doesn't have the 12-pin female header. Where that socket is on other chips of this kind there is a unpolluted area labelled "FLASH". I don't think this console was ever used for anything else other than playing copied games, as it was running on the stock Dashboard, and still had the 8GB HDD installed. Even when the EvoX mode was initialised by holding the power button to turn on the chip, the console still booted to the stock Dashboard. To cut a long story short, I opened the console up to remove the clock capacitor, and give the console a general clean, and I accidental knocked off the wire going from L2 to the IDE socket, at the socket side. To be honest, the soldering was extremely bad, and looked like it had been done in a rush by someone who had very little idea of what they were doing. I promptly repaired the loosens wire, and as the soldering attaching the chip to the motherboard was a very bad job also, I decided to add some solder to the points to reinforce them a little. I personally don't like the 'quick-solder' pads much, but that's how this chip had been installed. And as I mentioned there is no header socket at all. However, on reassembling the console, it won't boot. Neither into EvoX mode or 'stock'. The way this chip was set up was to hold the power button to activate it. But that isn't working either. All that happens is the console powers on, then off, on again, and off a second time and when it powers on for the third time (all of this is automatically on it's own) the console doesn't display anything on screen (although I do hear a normal 'click' of the speakers when the power comes on) and the consoles LEDs are alternating red and green. Which, from what I read is a bad BIOS read. I don't understand why though, as I haven't done anything to the BIOS. I did load up Hexen 2018, and went into the flashing options, but I didn't actually do a flash, because I didn't know what the chip was at the time, I thought it best to see what I was going to flash to first. This also installed the EvolutonX Dashboard automatically, which did work okay at first. I really don't know what has happened, but I have now done some damage to the chip itself in trying to find some way of getting the console to boot. There is a surface mounted capacitor right next to the LPC labelled "C7D2", which I must have accidentally touched with the tip of my iron, as there is a little 'spike' of fresh solder on it. Is it plausible that I have damaged this capacitor, and that is what's causing the console to fail to boot? If so, can I bypass this capacitor, or replace it? As I said, with all of the soldering and desolating I have ruined most of the 'quick-solder' pads on the chip now. As such I have ordered an Aladdin XT PLUS2 from eBay, but it's coming from China, so it's not going to be here for a few weeks. But as the console doesn't boot at all, with or without the chip installed, I am wondering if a new chip would actually make a difference. Because I haven't mentioned it above; it's a 1.0 XBox. I have even tried completely removing the chip altogether, which is how the console is right now. Yet, it still refuses to do anything other than what I described above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really don't like the idea that I've killed the console. I could obtain another, sure, but I would like to try and repair this one if I can. I dislike giving up on things if there is still a chance I can fix it.
  16. G'day all! i've recently got myself a soldering iron and am eager to TSOP my 1.1. I've not yet used the specific soldering iron (waiting for a practice kit to arrive in the mail) but i do have some experience with soldering so i generally know what i'm in for. The main issue is that the fear of messing something up and rendering the console useless is immense! I've barely used it as is so as to not wear out the hard drive, so it'd be a shame to have to bin it. What would be the correct method to join the required points. From many of the sources i've seen, the general strat (without using conductive ink or wire) seems to be apply solder to iron apply iron to points and move it around for no more than ~2 seconds pray that the points have been bridged is this correct? would it be a good idea to use flux on the points or would it not really do anything? Cheers!
  17. I've only just got into the gaming realm after getting my first Xbox One X for Christmas. So I was hoping for some advice... Modchips yes or no? Benefits/downfalls to doing? Thanks
  18. I have (purchased from a friend) a x3ce modded Xbox that boots into XBMC and it has a 2tb HDD installed. He has about 330 Xbox games in folders on the G partition, and it's running out of room. I have another 300+ games that I would like to install to F and just wanted to see what needed to be done to get all the games from F and G to show when I click the "Games" tab. Is the a CFG file I need to edit in XMBC or am I stuck with 2 separate sources (Games and Games 2)? I hope I explained that well enough. Thanks in adavance.
  19. For the past few weeks i've been looking into modding an xbox, and i've bought quite a good amount of stuff to prepare. I understand that there are like 15 ways to do somethings and it all depends on specifics ecct.. but I just have a few questions. For starters, I understand you have to soft mod your xbox before tsop mod, and you can change out your hdd either after the tsop mod or after softmodding, which way should I do? Also, I would like some emuls so which bios should i be looking into? All I want to do is to be able to boot a few games without putting them in the disk drive, and play some older games, on top of having a nice dash board and boot up screen. Among the things I've purchased, I also got a ghost case, and I would like to paint my jewel. anybody have advice on that? also, any good looking led mod kits? I've seen a couple, but if anyone has a link to a good treasure trove of either led strips or something to put under my jewel, I would appreciate it. Also, why do some people while installing the ghost case (clear case) not change out the disk reader cover to the transparent one? Haven't opened my xbox yet, since its the one from my childhood, I'm trying to save it, but if I can't find a cheap one to mod out, Ill be using what i suspect to be a 1.3.
