Hello everyone, Sorry if this is in the wrong place but as the title says, I'm relatively new to the OG Xbox, it's an awesome console but seems to be pretty complex as well. I have a softmodded 1.6 Xbox. The first issue/question I have is when I turn the console on, it boots in 4:3 and SD even though it's connected with a Chimeric HDMI adapter, also in some guys like 007 Nightfire, it's pretty blurry almost like it's running in SD, is this an issue with 1.6 Xboxes? If that is an issue with 1.6 consoles, whether it's because of the Xcaliber encoder or whatever, what is the best revision to use on HDTV's with HDMI adapters like the Chimeric one or the Xedusa? Hello all! I use to be really into the mods back in the days. I shared a lot of hardware info and came up with a easy to build Eprom reader to get the Hdd KEYS out of the bios chip storage. I recently pulled out 4 Xboxes that I had squirreled away for future projects, I saw this on a YouTube video and thought, wow people are still into modding the old Xbox! Good to meet all of you!

i tend to leave this xbox on a lot lately for days without a power cycle. it has this annoying problem where it will randomly be frozen on the homescreen when i want to use it and i have to get up and power cycle it. it comes back on fine and doesn't have any issue until the next time it freezes. there seems to be no ryhme or reason to when or why it freezes. what could be causing it? it has the open xenuim chip and i am booting the evox bios. it also has a 3 tb seagate barracuda 5400rpm hdd in it with the starlink adapter. it also has a 80 wire ide cable that chimeric used to sell. it is running the 1.300v of xbmc4gamers. everything else is stock.

Hi all , I have an original xbox , I have the softmode kit ( usb cable , usb sprinter cell game pen ) and I would like to install it on my original xbox XBMCGames : is there a guide for non-experts? I searched on you tube but couldn't find it. thanks

i've seen some bad info out there for noobs trying to mod a xbox for the first time. the 2 main ones are to null or modify your hdd key(without disclosing any of the dangers) instead of just keeping the old hdd as a backup to create another drive if needed and the 2nd one is to pry the gpu heat sink off. please don't do this, especially on a xbox that has sentimental value to u. this is a good way to ruin it. we really need to start being more careful what we tell noobs to do. i know my original xbox has a lot of sentimental value to me because it still has the game saves from where i used to go to lan parties with it back in the mid 2000's. i'd be heart broken if one of these guides caused me to ruin it. many other would probably feel the same way about theirs.

I was attempting to update the version of Rocky on the hard drive by using an extras disk. I guess the update corrupted itself because it refuses to load to the dashboard anymore and won't boot up any games, including regular xbox games that I own. I've done some research on this but I just feel lost. I know to say that I don't have the EEPROM nor did I null the EEPROM key. I don't know how that changes my options to repair this softmod. It was running fine before I attempted to perform the update via the extras disk. I would prefer a solution that lets me keep the xbox softmodded if possible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've noticed something when I turn on my Xbox. It does the initial 'flubber' xbox animation when I turn it on, however it sits there for quite some time (maybe at least a good minute) before it moves on. Now normally it would do the xbox animation screen and the word 'microsoft' in white letters pop up indicating it's good to go and proceed to a dashboard. Mine now is doing the animation and sits there for a while, longer than normal, before I get the microsoft text and it goes to the dash. Additionally it isn't showing the XBMC Emustation title screen before it jumps into XBMC Emustation either like it did before. Again, normally it would show a XBMC Emustation title screen before it went into Emustation. So my xbox does this -> turns on / does xbox animation -> hangs for a bit before microsoft text pops up -> takes a while on blank screen -> eventually loads up XBMC Emustation On my other xbox it goes -> turns on / animation -> instantly does microsoft text -> quickly shows XBMC Emustation title / splash screen -> goes right into XBMC Emustation Any ideas on what is going on and what I can do to resolve this? Hello, This is my first post. My xbox is random freezing with buzzing noise. I have no choice but to turn it of. After turn it on, it goes into boot loop, turns on and of automatically. I have to wait an hour and it will work again. It is modded with Xblast and 128mb ram. The clock capacity has been removed, the board has been cleaned and also fixed 2 broken traces a few years ago. I used to play every day without any issues. It's been two months since I last turn it on. I don't see any leaking capacitors or broken traces. The only thing I can think of is the power supply that is very noisy. Was wondering if anyone has encounter this issue?

I bought this Xbox new and rarely played it. It is not modded. I pulled it out a month or so ago and it wouldn't play. I had the drive professionally replaced. It worked for a while. Now it will not power up. I just want to see what I can get for it. Also included are two like-new controllers, power cable, composite cable, standard component cable, and upgraded TKS Custom component cable. The TKS cable is a huge upgrade! Is there a link to the installation process of the Origins game pack that has been going around which is a 1.7TB HDD image? all I am seeing is that you need a program to clone the HDD But no other information beyond that. What do I actually do with it? How would I clone it to my Xbox HDD when I have smaller size partitions, does the program just split it? The Origins Game pack I am referring to is the ArcadePunks HDD image file that many people are using. thanks!

Hi all, Brand new to the OG XBox scene I just imported myself a JP NTSC unit for that 60hz goodness. Being in Australia means not wanting to buy locally due to being a PAL 50hz territory. Can anyone point me in the right direction to a compatible 240V power supply for this unit? Thanks in advance! Edit: Just doing some reading, it seems the done thing is buying a second local xbox of the same revision / has the same headers, and swapping the PSU into my imported unit. Is that about right?

I seen very little of it floating around out there very curious if anyone has any information how to obtain one.... yes yes I know completely unnecessary but very fun to mess with. I've even toyed with the idea of taking the journey down the path of constructing my own.

Hello everyone I got a Softmodded V1.0 Evox with a 500hd, i´ve about 200 titles that work, but recently i´ve installed some via Flashfxp5 but they didn´t launch from the dash menu, it shows loading but it goes back to Evox menu, and doesn´t start from a game disc(does the same thing). The orange light is always on on the tray button. What i tried already: Cleaning cache from E: and X: Y: and Z: (nothing) Patched xbe of some games via c-box tool (nothing) Still, nothing, games won´t start anyway, what i´m missing here? when i got started in the xbox modding scene a couple years ago, i kept reading that ssd's do not last long on these og xbox's because of the way the system constantly writes to the disk cache. now, i keep seeing people say they upgraded to a ssd. even watched a youtube video a while back from modern vintage gamer where he used some type of flash cart memory card in place of a hdd. so what is the final verdict on this? will an og xbox eat up a ssd quickly or not? and is there any speed benefit in going to a ssd? i know it won't speed up the transfer of data but i often think it is the actual hdd's seek time that causes alot of the hesitation(especially when loading the home screen).

Hello! I know there is a beta version of FATXplorer available and it supports the original Xbox. Is there any good tutorials on how to get started? Other than plugging in my OG Xbox hdd into my computer with FATXplorer running that is as far as I got. Nothing showed up for a drive to use so hopefully I'm missing a super simple step to get started.

Dears My xbox 1.6 is working intermittently. Checking the PSU, it was identified that where it should present 5v, I find approximately 1v. In addition, there is noise in the low voltage sector. In visual analysis, there are no components with deformations. However, this behavior is intermittent and, at the moment I write to you, it is working normally. Any tips on how to fix?

Long time reader first time poster! Sorry to start in this way but I'm completely lost and if possible I need your help all... First disclaimer, before the attempt on both console to install the modchip everything works fine (stock console no softmod or other modchip). As per the title I've installed the same Aladin XT Plus 2 (pick-up from AliX) but at the end (after the first boot) both console start to have the same issue as per below : Tries to Boot 3x then FRAG (Christmas Lights) Usually due to a failed or improperly installed modchip or the IDE cable being plugged in upside down somewhere. Check modchip wiring and IDE cables. If you did not do any soldering, it could be a bad PSU. - On both console I've already removed all the wires for the Aladin (beside the connector on the MB) - Cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol - Replaced the power supply - Recaps (Done only on the 1.0) - Searched on the motherboard for broken component or any other strange visual sign of issue Is clear that the Aladin I've is faulty but what I can try now to revive those two console? Does anyone know of a cheap XBOX arcade control encoder or way to use a modded XBOX with arcade controls? I currently have two cocktail cabinets I am trying to build up: one with an IPAC, and one with dragonrise encoders. Ultimarc used to have one you could use with an IPAC be they no longer carry it and they aren't even on ebay. I have seen degenatrons controller hack and its beyond my technical capabilities. I have a Xbox 1.0 and the system goes to boot, stays stuck for a few seconds on M$ logo. When it gets to the stock dash, it is very slow to do anything. I am thinking maybe the hard drive is failing because I tried another working dvd drive and it did the same thing. I just wanted to hear from someone what could be going on?

Is It Possible To Port Mickey Mouse Castle Of Illusion To The Original Xbox?

Hello all! A few months back a got my first OG Xbox, but the DVD drive was broken. I ended up buying a second Xbox for parts with a working drive and swapped them out (I ended up getting lucky, it was a Samsung drive). So a couple days ago I pulled out my spare Xbox and found the only problem with it was the power button not turning the console on/off. The console would power on when plugged in, which looking into this online told me its a common problem. So I ended borrowing the working drive and softmodding it. Everything was going perfectly until I was playing some snes9x and the console was smoking! Turns out the clock capicitor was leaking on the motherboard and melting. I knew about the clock capicitor issues, but stupid me thought I'd just do it later. So I cleaned up the mess and removed the capicitor, but it left some irreversible damage. Now the console will boot up and work fine for 5 minutes before suddenly turning off. I think the best method moving forward would be to try and solder in a wire workaround (From source above). I need some advice, whats the best move moving forward? I want to save this Xbox if I can.
