About Me

  1. Can I get my OG ms dash back after installing xbmc? I get error 13 when I turn my Xbox on without pressing and holding the power button. I have the Aladdin chip and boots up into xbmc fine but I really like my old dash to work aswell. Is it possible? Thanks
  2. Hello, my old xbox console has been having an issue when I plug it in. I think it's the cables that are the issue, where it does show part of the startup but the display is completely black and white. The audio still plays and the xbox is still powered on, and I'm wondering if I need to just throw it out or something.
  3. This video is a quick way to dump your original Xbox eeprom directly from the motherboard with just a Raspberry Pi Pico. The code is written by myself in micropython and posted on Github. All you need is a soldering station and 24-30 gauge wire ( or a scrap usb cable you can cut up). This video is handy if you're trying to revive an old Xbox or unlock its HDD. The dump only takes a few seconds, and requires only 3 wires to be soldered from the Pico to the Xbox. Everything that you'll need: -Github Posting https://github.com/maxpower5544/Pico-ogxbox-eepromdumper -Raspberry Pi Pico https://amzn.to/47CXUfe -Solder Station Kit https://amzn.to/47CP3dB -26 Gauge Wire https://amzn.to/3vFO3Ir -Breadboard https://amzn.to/3tUOiyG
  4. Hello Xbox friends, I'm about to buy a used Xbox controller but are these original Xbox Series Controllers to use on a PC Or buying just a Xbox 360 wireless controller (I believe it's uses Bluetooth like the Series and One controllers?) will suffice, so I can save money? \ Thank you in advance. God bless, Revelation 21:4
  5. Hello Xbox friends. I plan to play Shenmues 1 to 3 (father of all open world games by Yu Suzuki and SEGA) on macOS and Windows and want to use a controller that's as close to the Dreamcast as possible (I understand the Xbox is popularly known as the spiritual successor of the Dreamcast with Microsoft collaborating on Windows CE on the Dreamcast), also I like that it's big and won't cramp my hands but will an Xbox 360 USB breakaway cable work with the Xbox "Duke" controller flawlessly? Do they have the same exact pinouts? Thank you in advance. God bless, Revelation 21:4
  6. About a year ago I tried to install an Aladdin into my (working, at the time) 1.6 Xbox. Lo and behold, post installation, it doesn't work. I don't remember if it would just power on without the chip or if it wouldn't power on at all. I decided to take it out and now when I power it on it tries to boot 3x then I get red and green flashing 50/50 (it stays on and just keeps flashing). I took pics of the board post-modchip removal so you guys could see if the board is a goner. I must acknowledge my soldering skills were not quite up to par at the time. Here's the diagram I followed: Here's a full shot of the LPC rebuild: Close-up of the red trace: I'll post the rest in a reply because I'm out of space here.
  7. This is a 1.0 Xbox that was found with a dead 110v PSU, most likely plugged into 220v. I swapped the PSU with a good one. When I press the power button I get rapid flashing green light, no fans, no boot, no FRAG. It had a leaky clock cap with some messed up resistors near the cap which were replaced from a doner board after cleaning the area, no change. Traces look ok. I swapped the 5 1500uf caps with new ones, no change. Power at the first N FET input is 5v when the power on button is pressed and around 1.8v on the output. I swapped the fet from a doner board, no change. Voltage on the two resistors near the yellow power button cable show 3.5v and drop to around 2.5v when pressing the power button. Not sure where to go from here...
  8. When pressing the power button, nothing happens. Sometimes it would make the fan reach max speed 3 times and flash orange for a split second. Sometimes it would do something in between and slightly nudge the fan to spin and nothing more. I should mention my xbox has a modchip. Based off the information i have gathered from forums and reddit posts, this is what i know; - IDE cable and disc drive are not the cause of the problem, everything is disconnected from the motherboard - power button and eject button work - checked the board for corrosion, cleaned with iso. alchohol - fuse on power supply is good - checked voltages on power supply ATX connector (connected it to the motherboard, stuck the probes inside the connector where the wires go and pressed the power button. This probably isnt the way to do it i know). The standby and power on voltages match, but after a few seconds the drop back to zero (excluding the orange wires which do have standby voltage) because i presume the xbox doesnt boot - checked the transistor at Q7C2 and i am not getting a match for the voltages. 1.1v on the collector and 0.6 on the emitter. I might have read the values wrong, but the still dont reach what the are supposed to Not losing hope, open to all suggestions
  9. i know you are focused on og xbox but i guessed you have knowledge on 360 modding i have a problem i was trying to start rgh 1.2 my fat falcon xbox 360 but i had a problem im using jr programmer and coolrunner rev c and jrunner with extra i didnt start soldering the coolrunner yet i only solder programmer and i got to read the nand with no error 2 times but after Writing glitch.ecc to Nand i got these errors Error: 000 writing block 17 Error: 000 writing block 21 Error: 000 writing block 40 Error: 000 writing block 4D what im doing wrong ? and if i use the picoflasher i get better results ? ps: i forgot to backup the nand im i done for ? if anyone curios here is my soldering wires
  10. Good evening, I have a 1.6b xbox, it is currently softmodded (this was done about 12 years ago) and the disk drive died on me to the point where the xbox wont boot to the dashboard (error code 12), anyway I read that since this is a 1.6b motherboard a TSOP flash is out of the question. I purchased a open xenium mod chip and performed the installation. Currently when the xbox is powered off but plugged in the mod chip emits a bright white light. This is after rechecking my joints due to having a bright red light. Im not sure which one of those is good or not. Anyway when I attempt to turn on the console with just the power and video cables and fan plugged in, no controller port cables plugged into the mb and no hard drive/disk drive, the mod chip emits a slightly less intense red light and the LED on the front of the xbox starts of green then flashes orange, fan spins up, then everything goes back to a powered down state and the white light returns. This is when powering on with the eject button btw. If I take the chip off the pin header, the xbox boots to the splash screen then ofc does nothing because there is no hard drive or disk drive. edit: forgot to mention I took a multimeter in continuity mode and the pins and points on the board are all connected as they should be, and I do have a picture of the chip itself but it currently is failing to upload here, ill try to do what I can in that regard Any guidance would be appreciated, attached are some photos of my amateur soldering work.
  11. Hi. I was just finishing a successful repair to a 1.0 with a bad psu. Replaced psu, replaced clock cap, flashed Aladdin with Cerbios, updated hdd. Everything was working fine, dashboards, games, etc. Closed up the case and as a final thought decided to increase fan speed using Xblast OS. Loaded Xblast, set fan speed, hit reboot and... Frag with Christmas lights! Any ideas?
  12. HI my replacement fan does not wanna spin I upgraded the ram and that was it üduring the top onece it worked and on the bottom ones I did not notice it. It did never got too hot or something like that. I used diferent fan still nothing. and if no fan is connected it is 11 Volts
  13. (Cross-posting from Reddit having done further testing to see if anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this) My hard-modded Xbox 1.2 with OpenXenium and Cerbios 2.3.2 Alpha set as the default BIOS has an issue where it'll take several attempts to boot fully into XBMC4Gamers. If I power the machine on, the power, eject button and controller port lights come on, the DVD drive clicks a couple of times and the disk activity light stays solidly on for 5-10 seconds before stopping. The machine will then get stuck on a black screen and I have to power cycle it. I've noticed that the Xbox seems less likely to boot successfully if I boot it up 'cold' for the first time in several days or weeks whereas it's more likely to boot if I try it 4 or 5 times in quick succession. The machine has the following: XboxHD+ Revision 3C (the issue still occurred when I was using a component cable instead of HDMI) iND-BiOS, EvoX M8 Plus 1.0.5838.1 and Cerbios 2.3.2 Alpha added via the OpenXenium launch menu - the issue occurs with all 3 BIOSes Crucial MX500 2TB SSD connected via a StarTech IDE to SATA adaptor Brook Wingman XB2 paired wirelessly with official Xbox Series X controller - I've noticed when using Cerbios that the controller pairs successfully even when the machine gets stuck on a black screen? replacement capacitors clock capacitor removed DVD drive belt replaced 128MB RAM upgrade I bought the Xbox pre-modded on eBay and the last 3 items on that list were done by the seller. Other hardware mods like the XboxHD+ installation and replacement capacitors were done by the trusted UK modder I use. I've tried rebuilding the C:\ drive using an OG Xbox Installer 2021 DVD (or at least manually doing the equivalent using the built-in file manager as some of the files were failing to read off the drive) but that didn't make a difference. Once the machine has booted fully, it seems pretty stable and I've been able to complete several games on the system. Any ideas what can be done to get the machine to boot more reliably? If it's a hardware issue, I don't have any soldering skills but I don't mind sending it off to get it looked at - I'm just hoping that the issue is fixable as I don't really want the hassle of purchasing a replacement console and having to transplant everything over.
  14. Hi all, I built an xbox mini a few years ago and designed a case based loosely on ghostavels well known xbox mini. I had it laser cut from plexiglass and it turned out ok, but could be better. I'm looking into possibly designing in CAD and making the cases but want to see if there's enough interest for it to be a worthwhile venture. I've attached some pictures of my original, any feedback or suggestions would be great. Currently it uses the breakaway part of the controller cables for controller ports, I have only used 2 on mine but 2 more can be added obviously. I also added internal wifi hence an extra cutout on the back to loop a small cat5 to an internally mounted wifi pcb, this could be omitted or the wifi pcb could be directly soldered to the ethernet port (I wanted to retain the port). There is also a small window for internal IR dongle, again this can be omitted. The 3 smaller "holes" are for hdd act LED, Power LED and network activity. Again optional. You would need to do the pico psu mod and have some aftermarket cooling for cpu etc (I used Iceberq 4 pro's) Face plates could be any colour, same for the side/back pieces. Also doesn't have to have the xbmc logo engraved Thanks
  15. I installed and Open Xenium mod chip and the MakeMHz XboxHD+ HDMI mod in my old 1.6 Halo SE Xbox, along with a cheap SSD. I initially had everything running, & was able to boot into the EvoX dashboard as well as play games. Once I put all the case screws in & set it up, it booted normally once. After that boot, any other attempt was met with 3 failed boots followed by flashing red and green. I disconnected all the wires, reconnected them, and tried again. Again, 1 normal boot followed by endless FRAG results. Like in Greyleaf's thread, my Open Xenium chip doesn't light up at all with the FRAG boot attempts. I am a soldering novice, having only completed a Boxy Pixel GBA SP Unhinged build and GBC build. I did get some recommendations from a fried for better flux partway through the mod. I accidentally lifted a pad on the HD+ ribbon cable, but I ran a small wire to the trace farther up the cable . My first attempt to solder the cable had some issues. I completely removed & resoldered it. When the system boots, I do have functional video output. If I remove my Open Xenium chip from the pin connector, it boots into an error 16 page (I guess no surprise with a modified dashboard & unlocked drive). I replaced the clock capacitor and reflowed the solder for the Open Xenium. None of this has solved the issue. I also made a Reddit thread when I started troubleshooting. I think I've written the important details here, but it's there if I missed anything important. Summary: 1.6 Xbox Halo SE Delta DPSN-96DP PSU Open Xenium mod chip MakeMHz XboxHD+ HDMI port SSD upgrade I'm a novice Successfully boots once after reassembly (so far at least) Second boot attempt leads to 3 boot attempts then FRAG No lights on Open Xenium chip during failed boot process Normal lights on XboxHD+ during failed boot Disconnecting Open Xenium mod chip gives error 16 boot screen Looking for any troubleshooting help. Thanks.
  16. Hey all. I have a recent acquisition of an OG Xbox with a Samsung DVD drive that is properly jammed. It's a Samsung Model SDG-605. The front white tab is completely loose. I've tried to pop the tray loose via the small white tab on the bottom of the DVD drive and cannot get this thing to budge. I reviewed the disassembly guide here: https://web.archive.org/web/20050406225941/http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Samsung_DVD_Complete_Disassembly.htm Is there any way to get this tray out without getting it fully extended? Any ideas / suggestions?
  17. Hi, I have a 1.4 revision Xbox which is modchipped with a generic Aladdin XT Plus2, it was modified many years back and was working normally when put away, Now when I turn it on, I get 1 green flash followed by red flashing of the LED. It does not matter the modchip I use which are all Aladdins, and have been proven tested/working in other consoles. The power LED initially flashes green once and then red. No video/audio on TV. I should add, it is only the left half of the LED that is flashing. I suspected it was due to the trace rot repair, but reversing this did not help. It was working normally when put away. The console powers up without even the front panel buttons connected. No solder splashes that I can see. Attempting to reverse the mod entirely (removing D0 point grounding and chip) I get FRAG.
  18. I wasted a good portion of the last 3 or 4 years, lots of time and money on this idea. I've created then thrown away at least 6 full prototype xbox case prints that I was not happy with, redesigned several times etc. Here is a link to all versions from start to finish. It's not perfected still, but I am happy enough with mine that I'm not willing to pursue this anymore. I've shared them on cults3d and thingiverse but it's hard to put all the data there. To be clear, anyone can do anything they want with any files I've shared.. print and sell, edit, etc etc. Includes x3cp stl, xtender stl, stock face stl, power button stl, and prototype stl or obj files. I even tried to make a theme based on prototype. It should all be found here. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jPioe3_N8f_HiEhmXxccLfFvJ9h86N6K
  19. Reposted with pics on Imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/rH19myY I need help flashing this corrupt Bios chip on my Og Xbox. Unfortunately this is the only way i can reflash it, as i attempted to flash it but forgot to bridge the points now my Og Xbox only works with a modchip. I got around to picking up a programmer TL866II Plus with Xgpro v11.90 Flasher tool. But i keep getting a pin detect error. I first tried it with a new exact replacement chip using a TSOP 40 adaptor. Then ended up losing that chip. And desoldered the one from the motherboard. I also removed the cold solder from the adaptors and added some fresh new high quality solder with flux to make sure that isn’t the problem. I socketed it into the slot and no luck “Pin detect error”. I then ordered another adaptor this time without a socket and i soldered on the bios chip. I also redid the solder joints, as the ones on that adaptor were dull aswell, and no luck. I picked up the correct or the closest settings on the Xgpro v11.90 software. I tried TSOP 40 Hyundai and Hynix HY29F080 with no luck. It yet again gives me a “Pin detect error”. I even tried auto detect and it says chip not supported. On the chip it says Hyundai HY29F080T-90, but i can’t find that exact model number on the menu. Could that be the issue or is it something else. I have no idea as this is my first time using a programmer. And saw a video or two on how to use it.
  20. Has anyone in the history of the modern world ever gotten a USB spinner to work on their modded Xbox? I've looked everywhere on the internet and it looks like someone is going to land on Pluto before anyone gets a USB spinner to work on a modded Xbox.
  21. Hey guys, so anyways I have an original Xbox gamester arcade stick that has stucky buttons, how do i make them not sticky so they function better?
  22. i, like many others, started having problems with my xbox after replacing the thermal paste. graphics glitching, freezing, frag'ing, and sometimes it would just go into a coma on me. it appears that the problem is that some of the solvent for cleaning the thermal paste gets underneath the gpu chip and causes a short. 1st off, i do not recommend replacing the thermal paste on these consoles but if u already have and are now having problems then here is how to fix it. get a bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol with a squirt top on it(i suggest a quart bottle), hold the motherboard on it's side, and squirt the alcohol all over it. be certain that plenty is going under the gpu. next, take a hair dryer and dry the board very well. be careful not to get it too hot. a good rule of thumb is that if any part of the board is uncomfortable to lay your hand on and keep it there, then it is too hot and should be allowed to cool. next, sit the board in the xbox, hook up the psu, connect a tv and power on the system a few times to be certain that it appears to be working before full reassembly. BE CERTAIN TO REAPPLY THERMAL PASTE AND HEATSINKS BEFORE POWERING ON! i'm not certain that it will overheat the chips without the heatsinks for a quick test but it isn't worth the risk. this fixed my xbox that i was concerned i had forever killed.
  23. Hello i'm looking for wiring diagram of power board Version 1.1 year 2002- 220 volt Classic xbox, help me! Please
  24. Can I make money out of making and selling original games for the console? The games will have original assets and settings to avoid copyright and will be sold with decent prices so I thought it was a good idea. But is it legal to do it? Meerjel01
