I was trying to upgrade my HDD with chimp but end of the sequence I can’t get pass the startup screen (without Microsoft logo). I tried xbhdm both disc and usb but no luck but Iooked at the HDD, C and E files is there but they’re empty. Btw i tried Hexen and og xbox installation discs but again doesn’t worked. I’ll add the board’s picture and you’ll notice that the chip is different and an odd one. I also have HDD’s eeprom. Is this situation salvageable or is it dead? I also have an non-chipped non-softmodded spare one as well. Thanks in advance.

I have an OG Xbox that no longer works, I've tried a different power supply and replaced some capacitors that were bad no luck, my friend gave me a working Xbox same model. Is it possible to swap the drive from my dead one to the "new" one and retain all the data? Also if I can't do that would it be possible to transfer the save data and games to the new system?

Got a 1.6 crystal in pretty great condition here with one serious problem - DVD drive (SDG-605) is dead, error 12. Tried swapping a known working DVD drive in and using exactly the same power+IDE cable+HDD it successfully boots to dash so it's definitely the SDG-605 causing the error. If anyone has any working DVD drives they are willing to part with, especially if they're in the UK, that would be great. Otherwise, it's going to be the eBay lottery, and I'm not feeling lucky.

So a day ago I got a 1.6 xbox with x3 (purple) model in it, and decided to flash force480p bios while I am waiting until my 1.4 with xboxhdmi returns from installer. Flashed that bios successfully, but console does not output any video signal. Also, about a year ago I had another 1.6 xbox with x3ce chip, and I do remember that force480p bios worked flawlessly. Anyone knows what the issue could be? Things I tried: Wiping X3 eeprom (a+b+x+y on bootanim) Downloading bios from multiple sources Flashing over various methods (http flash; ftp flash; flash from internal hdd) Flashing on both 1-4 and 5-8 banks Trying with different HD cables (I have component cables and chimeric systems hdmi adapter) Trying on 3 different tvs

Hello a couple of days ago I was testing my newly built component cables (Before using them I tested everything with a multimeter and nothing was shorting and I was able to play with them and they looked great since I used shielded 360 cables so I don't think that the cable is the problem) on my Xbox and it was working perfectly fine, I restarted it a couple of times and I didn't have a single problem, today I tried to play again and I got stuck on the iND-Bios splash screen with the light blinking red and green with no change, it just gets stuck there. My Xbox is tsoped and I have installed a 320 Samsung hard drive with an IDE to SATA adapter and an 80 wires IDE cable (Properly insulated), the DVD drive mechanism is not in the best condition since it needs help to eject or insert itself sometimes but it reads discs perfectly fine when they get inside, I tried booting tru Hexen 2019 and the console kept ejecting it, I'm not sure if this is related to the bios stuck problem or the disc drive itself (I didn't have the need to use it for the last half of the year since the HDD was working perfectly fine and I didn't do any major changes to the dashboard/bios). Aside from that it was working without any problems and I didn't change any configs, I just played DOA 3 and Crazy Taxi 3. Now the console just doesn't turn on, I press the power button or eject and the fan spins one time and nothing happens. Hello All I know there are some games like HP prisoner of Azkaban that won't work because of long file paths, etc. Does anyone know of a full list of games that don't work? I have read that you can use the ISO mounted on a virtual drive with softmod but my XBOX is hard modded so I'm not sure if this would work? thanks in advance AtariSoul

Hi, managed to get my hands on an X3 / X3CP xbox console, just playing around with it at the moment but needing a bit of advice for my next steps. ive put a 160gb ide in and used AID to format and install a dash (unleashx for now), ive also used the white button on boot to bring up the x3 config live and have a little mess with the settings. (a) firstly its installed on a 1.0 board with fan on GPU, im not a big fan of that board so was thinking of uninstalling and re-installing on a 1.4, worth the hassle? (b) the faraday cage is rusty so need to take it all apart anyway however the chip is sticky-padded onto the cage, best way to remove? possibly sharp knife down the back of it? also the front control panel will need removing to get to the cage, do they clip on / off as easy as the original? ive noticed some original faceplates are more brittle than others, the last thing i want to do is crack it trying to remove it! (c) the lcd display, all ive managed to get out of it so far is 2 lines of text, ive seen people running temperature displays etc, how is this done?, does this depend on the dash / xml files associated with the lcd? (d) I have a 500gb xbox running a nice build of xbmc4gamers but console is soft modded so what dashboard files need to change for the dash to boot on a hard modded console, ie the EVOXDASH.XBE etc

Hello Friends I got my 1.6 Crystal modded with XE2.6 chip down from the loft. It still worked loading the games off the HD! However, it wouldn't eject, so I took it apart and replaced the rubber belt and that fixed it. Next the drive wouldn't read clean original discs, so I cleaned all the dust away, cleaned the runner rods and replaced the grease with a metal / plastic lubricant, but no luck. So I tested the POT resistance which was 1.35k ohms. I carefully adjusted it slowly by 0.1k ohms steps. When I got to about 0.9k ohms the XBOX would just turn on for a second and turn off, then on and off and now flashing red lights on the eject button. I opened up the DVD case and as expected, the laser isn't working. So I presume the laser has died and because of this the XBOX won't boot? I plan to swap my working DVD drive to prove its the DVD thats died and thats why it won't boot. But I thought modded BIOS's removed the dependancy of must having a DVD drive? If I remember I flashed the X5035 BIOS many years ago. Does this mean this BIOS does have the DVD drive dependancy and I need to upgrde the BIOS to a later version? Once I test this XBOX with my working DVD drive, should I use @sweetdarkdestiny's OGXBox Installer 2021 to upgrade the BIOS? If so, what one should I use? Hello everyone, i have a hardmodded 1.6 xbox with EVOM8 bios. When i hit the power button it launches my custom boot logo and then xbmc4gamers. If i hit the eject button it starts the default flubber and then a black screen. At first i had a error 5 error, but i locked the drive and that message is gone, but now there is a black screen only. I want the default msdash. It's on the the c drive, but do i need to put it in a specific directory, or do something else? Greetings, Mpnet

I have the Rocky5 Softmod and it states a DVD drive status of "unknown". It seems like I did it correctly and desoldered those two points on the new Disc Laser Lens. Sometimes I will get the "Empty" status too. I tried Pot tweaks on the old laser and then that helped for a very short time so I bought the new laser after it stopped working. Any ideas? Thanks!

2 of the 3 original xbox controllers I bought a few weeks back off of a ebay arent working, everything feels fine but the xbox doesnt seem to realize theyre plugged in even if I swap out the break away cables. Not really sure what could be causing this other than a guess that its the wire itself. Any tips on how to repair or replace the issue so these work?

It's not allowing me to do so anymore. I've looked for topics covering this, or a help section for an explanation to no avail. How to I get download permissions back?

Hi, I am unable to display in 720p thru component cable. Using modern 4K TV with component port 480p / 720p are enabled in MSdash, Unleash X and XBMC4Gamers (booting 4gamers by default) The cable is OEM xbox 360 repurposed to fit OGxbox. (mode 2 and 3 enabled) I have an open xenium with LCD that displays the current resolution. I tried to boot from different bios Ind.5004 and X3.5035 seems to be locked to 480i Ind.5004 and X3.5035 (forced480p) gives me 480p but nothing else. While I understand that not all games are compatible with progressive scan, the dashboard and apps should run at 720p or am I missing something? Thanks

Hey guys, New Modder here, also new to this site! I completed the Rocky5 softmod and things were going great, until I got to the N64. I've done a fair amount of research on this and have tried Earthworm James' Rom pack but it doesn't want to seem to work, I read somewhere that I should install the N64 emulator from the downloader on emustation but have seem to run into a problem where now the downloader doesn't want to do anything. I was able to download the downloader through them emustation options and I think I may have downloaded one thing from that, this was before running into any issues with the N64 emulation. Now when I go to download something from the downloaded it shows the 3 blue dots up in the top left that signifies that something is happening, but I left it for a good hour and nothing seemed to change. I've tried downloading various things with the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a dvd drive that reads disks but crashes because the board is faulty - can I take a working board from a dvd drive with a laser that doesn't read disks? And If so is it pretty easy to do - any guides? Thanks

Hi - I am trying to rebuild an xbox hard drive - I have the eeprom - a meant gave me an old Dell IDE drive - I know HDM v. 1.9 will work on it as I used it a few years ago. Does anyone know where I can get the C and E drive files for the rebuild? Thanks

Is anyone interested in an partly working orange Madcatz controller. It is wireless, the rubber is in bad condition, the case is good though. One rumble motor need to be soldered, the triggers needs to be pushed hard to get them to max and it is dismantled. It comes with the receiver and all parts. Hi everyone, I just introduced myself in the "new members" section. And now I have a bunch of questions covering different topics. I have a softmodded XBOX that I modded like ten years ago. I do not remember what softmod, what exploit, did I tsop-flash...? My setup is as follows: XBOX 1.2-1.5, 2.5"Sata-hdd, laptop-dvd-drive, VGA-connector on the back with a DIP-switch to choose vga-video-mode (so obviously i did a tsop-flash?), and usb-connectors on port 3 and 4. Everything is running again after some major issues. The box is booting to xbmc 3.0 and I can watch movies and play games from HDD (I can not find my game-dvds). But since I can not remember what softmod is installed, or what bios is flashed I want to start over. I only want to keep my games from the HDD. My plans are as follows: backup games via FTP, backup eeprom, install a new softmod, NULL the hdd-code, ( I may want to upgrade the 160GB hdd at some point), rebuild the HDD from scratch, install the latest XBMC is this the best order? what are the best methods for doing so? what software do I need (Tool-DVDs ?)

I just softmodded my second Xbox but I’m having an interesting issue I didn't experience on the first. None of my demo discs will work. I tried a handful of Official Xbox Magazine demo discs. I also tried the “Exhibition Demo Disc”. My copy of Sega GT 2002/Jet Set Radio Future (which basically functions like a glorified demo disc) also appears to be affected. Trying to play any of these either directly from the DVD drive or from a ripped copy on the HDD causes XBCM to restart. It’ll act like it’s going to load for a few seconds and then it just reboots. I’ve tried dozens of other games in my collection and so far have had no issues. The problem seems to be isolated to my demo discs and copy of GT 2002/JSRF. I have used these problematic discs in my first softmodded Xbox with no issues. In fact, I have many hours logged in JSRF on my first Xbox. I should also mention that I used a different method for softmodding this time around. My first Xbox was softmodded a few years ago using SID. For my second Xbox (the problematic one), I used Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool. The problematic console has a 1.4 motherboard. The working Xbox has a 1.0. I don't know if these points really matter, but I figure more information can't hurt. Any help is appreciated!

I have a curious situation with a v1.4 and an X3CE installed. It seems to have troubles on controller ports 3 and 4... i found plugging a wireless controller dongle into port 3 does nothing (in xbmc) and port 4 "blacks out" the video. the console doesnt reset or anything... just switched to black screen... has something been modded or is something broken? very curious indeed
