About Me

  1. Hi everyone from Italy. I just purchased a component cable to improve the resolution of my xbox, modded with Evolution-X V+3935. I bought the cable after watching some youtube tutorials and reading some posts online where they claimed that by connecting the Xbox through the component cable and selecting NTSC in the game region settings of the Evo-X dashboard, the possibility to select different resolution would automatically appear in the Microsoft Dashboard also on PAL Xboxes. I have done all that but still no option to select different resolutions in the video settings of the Microsoft dashboard. I am stuck with the standard resolution. What am I doing wrong ? Am I missing something ? I read somewhere that on PAL Xboxes the hi resolution settings have been removed from the dashboard, and that this would require softmodding to reinstall them. Not sure if this is required also with an hard modded console, or if I am facing some other problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!
  2. Lately the hard drive makes strange sounds, like "jumping" or scratching etc. So I formatted it(both low and hard level, with standard partition softwares) , checked it in Windows and done various tests like sectors and surfaces test: no problems were found. I reinstalled Slayer's Evox (latest), reuploaded all stuff, etc: same problems. At first boot, after many hours of inactivity, it goes well, but after a bit or just randomly the HD makes such weird sounds and the game crashes (especially Rallisport Challenge, a little more rarely with other games, both launched with TSR and IGR options set in various ways... though I noticed the problem is less frequent when TSR is on Normal and IGR is enabled). Maybe the HD is ok (also checked its compatibility before buying from the HD compatible chart I can't find now) but something else is wrong? I dusted the Xbox out, reconnected all cables: the problem is still there. Maybe it's not the sectors but the reader or any other part of the HD? Or maybe it's the way how files are uploaded to be wrong ( I use Filezilla, a router and normal ethernet cables, no crossover) ?
  3. This is happening on a stock console btw, I've read that the Microsoft logo appearing indicates an XBE has been found to launch so it's more likely to be something besides the HDD, there's no error code or change in LED color. I could put a chip in it and see what happens but maybe someone else who's seen this before could share their experience and save me some time.
  4. Hi, I have a 1.1 xbox with cerbios 2.0.3R, a seagate barracuda 2tb hdd, startech adapter and 80 wire cable from amazon. The problem is that the optical drive works only if cold booted with a disk in. After that I can swap disks without problems and everything is working. If I cold boot without a disk in, and I insert it after a dash has booted after checking the disk the dvd status become Busy (XBMC) or unknown (unleashX). Same for games or audiocd. The only quirk is that if I coldboot with an audiocd and swap for a game, the xbox still see the disk as an audiocd. I also tried m8+ and it's the same. Interesting is that if I set cerbios without the nodvd patch it can't find the dvd drive and frag but if I cold boot with a disk in, it finds the drive and boot as normal. Where could be the problem? Thanks
  5. Getting a quiet clicking noise when trying to boot, sound seems to come from the psu.
  6. Hi. I just got a second xbox classic, but with the problem that it's missing the hard drive. It's hard-moded with xc-changer chip. I have some knowlage, but still need some help. My plan is to first backup the eeprom using rpi or arduino (i have both). After that I have to find a compatible hdd (or maybe ssd). And at the end I have to use the eeprom backup to change the hdd key using a pc (forgot the name of the program). Correct me if i'm wrong. I appreciate your help.
  7. Hi Everyone, i'm currently offering these replacement cables in an effort to bring back to life as many original xbox Microsoft branded controllers as possible! This cable includes a 5 pin connector so it has all of the data lines that the xbox cable uses. It's a simple replacement, just de-solder the existent pin connector, and put this in it's place. This is a full length cord, includes the breakaway, ferrite cores, strain relief etc. It can also be used as a replacement on most (maybe all) of the cheap aftermarket controllers if you want to be able to use sit further from your monitor/TV. The new connector inserts vertically, the old one lays on it's side, this has no effect on the shell. There is one other difference i will point out for complete transparency. The original xbox controller uses 5 data lines, and has 1 chunky stranded line of shielding that is soldered as a 6th pin. These do not have that 6th pin. For comparison, the cheap aftermarket controllers use 4 pins in their wiring (missing the yellow wire), have no breakaway cable, and are only 5-6 feet in length. These ship from the US, and currently listed at $5.99 per cable. I do have a shopify store for easy payment options, but will not link that here until i have permission to do so. If you are interested, please drop a comment and feel free to PM me. Bulk rates are an option, just have to figure out the best method of shipping whatever qty it is you may be interested in.
  8. A few of us at Steel Battalion Online OG Xbox community have put something together just in time for Insignia's beta launch. A relatively simple & cheap method to use modern gaming headsets with the OG Xbox Voice Chat Comm's. No hard mods necessary just a couple adapters from Amazon and you will be Golden. We've tested and with your modern headset you will get game audio, voice chat and microphone compatability all in the one headset like it should be. Full Guide can be found here with links to required hardware. https://www.reddit.com/r/steelbattaliononline/comments/yr9d7u/a_few_of_us_steel_battalion_players_have_figured/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
  9. I've placed all the files properly and set jumpers correctly. BFM loading seems to happen and then blank screen. I'm using a Pound HDMI adapter. Do I need to buy composite cables? I've read that that is probably the reason for my present misfortune. Anybody have luck running with HDMI? As a side note, ANY time a BFM is loaded on my machine, my partition table is ERASED. It's kinda freaking me out. I keep having to boot with my X3 bios, run XBPartitioner, write the table, and then Cerbios will see F:. Any idea why BFMs keep wiping out my table? ISO loaders do the same thing.

  11. Hello There, yesterday I was with my father trying to upgrade our old and loved Og Xbox, but I'm new with Xbox tools, and after some try and error trying to get Chimp to work. I ran accidentaly the XBP Table Writer after that, and all games in the F: and G: partitions were gone. Now when I try to send any file to these partitions via FTP using Filezilla, I get the error "550 Internal error" or "Failed to get folders" I just ignored the error and got a DVD that I instaled the HexEn 2018, and with that I could clone my HD, but all the games that we had (Almost 120gb of games) are missing. Someone knows if there's any way to recover the games that I lost or at least recover the storage ?
  12. Hi everyone I'm new here to this forum. I'm going to make this short and sweet. I was given an original Xbox by an older friend of mines. It was his sons, he knows nothing about it. I start it up and I get this screen. ( smartxx ) screen, the picture below. when I click on the ( x2 evox 2005 ) it takes me to the photo with the error code 6. I removed the mod chip and then started the Xbox again. the screen went black with some green lettering and a code error 6 on the top left of the screen. is there anyway I can completely remove this chip and have it back to factory settings. or do I need to keep this mod chip in the Xbox? is there something I can do to make this thing work? there's no games anywhere in this chip. idk what to do. if you need more pictures of the menu please let me know so i can post them, thank you for your help
  13. How to fix the 4 screens bug when patching to 720p in OGXHD
  14. Hi all, I tried searching but didn't see this exact question. I have an old softmodded (10 years ago?) v1.6 XBOX that I tried to install an Aladdin XT+2 on so I could double the RAM. Long story short, I think I borked that motherboard and it won't boot now. I've gotten a replacement v1.4 XBOX and correctly installed the Aladdin and gotten it to boot properly to EvoX. Is there a way I can transfer my modded HDD from the 1.6 to my 1.4 with the Aladdin? I had XBMC and a lot of apps installed so would prefer not to start from scratch. Thanks!

  16. Hi, I’ve been trying to fix an Xbox which used to work perfectly. I tried to do the wii to hdmi mod and screwed it up, so put the old av port back on and confirmed all the pins going to where they should go, but it started fragging. I compared it with a working Xbox and found one line across the motherboard giving a strange diode reading of -1.1 or -1.0 when it should be 0.497 (red probe on ground). I’m attaching 2 photos showing a red line where this strange reading is. Any advice would be grateful.
  17. Hi there, I'm back doing another 1.6 mod with an Aladdin XT Plus2. It's a stock 1.6 xbox, so I thought a modchip would be pretty straightforward... Added the pin header and the tutorial I followed said cut the pins marked with an X (hopefully this makes sense) X O O O O O O O X X O O I've rebuilt the LPC and cut the L Frame trace, linked the BT to enable chip at all times, soldering went smoothly, no traces pulled etc. This is my third xbox mod install hi When trying to turn it on, I get the 3 restarts and the green red flashing ring led Any help or checklists to work through would be hugely appreciated, I can add photos tomorrow Cheers, Bryce
  18. Hello all, I've just dusted off my old Xbox and have some questions about it, I've tried to Google it but the people writing answers is on a whole other level of knowledge. I'm looking to install a 3TB HDD in my Xbox and I have some questions. I have a Xenium modchip, and I'm wondering if I can follow along this guy from 24:18 and forward? Can I use Cerbios with my Xenium modchip? When I boot the Xbox now it says Xecuter2 under the Xbox logo, I've tried every tool in my dashboard but no one seems to tell me the BIOS that I run now. I think I have a revision 1.4 because I've a Focus video chip, I've also looked for soldering on those pins for TSOP flash, but they don't seem to be touch (just read about a guy that managed to flash TSOP and brick his device). I just want someone to verify that I can upgrade the BIOS so that I can utilize the 3TB HDD before I manage to brick it. Second question that I have is this little switch that's connected to the modchip itself, what does it do? There seems to be no difference where it put it, it has two "modes" front and back. Thanks in advance
  19. HI people old timer here, with 3 og xboxes. Also have a series x, ps5, xbox 360 slim e and a ps3. regarding my original xboxes, i have an: OG1 (unknown mod picked it up at yard sale) with working dvd and 230 GB hdd. OG2 xbox with motherboard flash apparently or something? and another OG3 Xbox stock with a dead dvd drive. Ive long been into the modding scene, but never shown my face kinda thing. love og xbox and the memories i have with it. Im wondering if someone can direct me to where id get help with my army of xboxes. how do i figure out if the xbox is softmodded or modchipped without taking it apart? whats a motherboard flash? ive never heard of it but the guy i bought it off says its not softmod and its not modchip if u have 2 working modded xboxes with working dvds and a unmodded stock with a broken dvd, what would be the best way to also mod that? Im a big fan of Mr Mario and constantly look at his videos. Thanks all! have a great sunday/monday!
  20. I looked all over the internet and I didn't find it, I also heard that it is very difficult to find, can someone give me the link if you have it?
  21. I haven't used my og Xbox for a while I decided I wanted it set up and to play it again did all of that and it goes to boot up gives me a display but shows the contact service center with error code 12. I looked up the code and it points to the dvd drive. I've opened it cleaned it and still no luck. What are my options would a hard mod and no dvd bios be a better fix than replacing the drive? Or would buying a parts machine be better. Thanks Kyran.
  22. Hi guys i heard we can extract xbox eeprom with esp8266. i searched the internet but could not find any reliable guide. i only found a youtube video where the guy is speaking in french so i don't understand him. can anyone please help. my xbox is revision 1.2 and i already have removed the clock capacitor. i also have attached the picture of the esp8266 board i have.
  23. Ok so I recently soft modded my Xbox with the latest Rocky5 build and installed chimp via the extras disc. I then hooked up my 1tb lockable sata hard drive with a star tech ide adapter and also a 80 pin cable. This was set to slave with the og hardrive set to master. Everything seemed to be ok whilst rubbing chimp. The process took around an hour and half with speeds of around 3MiB’s per second to transfer the 5gb of content stored on the Xbox. I then fully installed my 1tb whilst set to master but I got error 7/6 on boot. I tried to re do the process but now when I launch chimp it states that my slave drive is locked and I can’t unlock it even though I’ve tried all of the unlock options. I’ve also tried 2 other compatible drives but as soon as I launch chimp it states that they are locked even though they wasn’t before. Even when I try them back in my pc they are now password locked at the bios screen and can not be unlocked. For these drives I haven’t even ran any processes within chimp for it to lock them in the first place. Anyone have any ideas?
