About Me

  1. i tried hot glue but it doesn't stick to rubber. i want to be able to remove the feet again if need be so super glue is out. what would be the best?
  2. What should I do now? I got a copy of truehexen 2019 and Hexen 2018 here, trying to figure out what I should do from here to make it look nicer and get the most out of this. The chip I used is an Aladdin XT+4032
  3. Hey All. I'm looking at grabbing yet another Xbox and rather than do what i have done in the past, Id like to make a 'Best of the Best' setup. This will be the console I keep out for use. ( as opposed to dragging it out to play ) Id like to know what you are running and why? What makes you choose that dash? (This will be the 1st of more questions asked in different areas of the Greater forum so keep your eyes peeled.)
  4. What skin do you all like? I'd like to use xbox xbmc emustation but I can't seem to get Coin Ops Ninja Massive to appear on it - so I'm looking for an alternative skin - any ideas greatly appreciated - thanks.
  5. Received an Xbox for spares I bought off Ebay. The thing I wanted it for was the working disc drive and all seems OK with that although it is my least favourite Philips VAD6011/21. The Xbox was listed as having error 16 - which it does so I was prepared just to swap out the disc drive but the rest is in pretty good nick, a bit of dirt and fluff on the the MB but all cleanable so I'm now thinking about actually trying to get it working again. But no extra cost so I'm not going to fit a chip or buy/build an eeprom reader (the eeprom of course is unknown) and I've been researching the best way of doing this. Rocky5 in another forum about a year ago posted about using Chimp 261812 on another Xbox and hot-swapping in the error 16 HDD (set to cable select) and using Chimp's Fix Error 16 option. Sounded good until the guy who was asking had trouble getting the HDD either to unlock or be recognised by Chimp. The solution that apparently worked was to use an installer disc instead of Chimp 261812 and actually hot-swap the error 16 HDD in for the main HDD and use HeXEn or whatever to install a softmod on that before swapping it back. Another solution I found suggested hot-swapping to an IDE USB adapter/housing and using either Xplorer360 or XBHDM USB to install a dashboard. I've had 'fun' with that sort of thing before and almost gave up trying to get the hot-swapped HDD to be recognised by Xplorer360 before it actually worked. So what method has worked for anyone else here wanting to fix an error 16 and is there some other, cost free, solution I've overlooked? BTW all the information I have suggests this is a Xbox v1.2: Conexant VE, Philips disc drive, 21st Feb 2003, China but I know there is difficulty distinguishing between the v1.2 and v1.3. I'd like it to be a v1.3 and then I'd have a full house but the evidence and my waters tell me this is a v1.2.
  6. Hello World Let's discuss about Linux on Xbox Original, and what is it good for? I've read people use it to browse the internet and even watch Youtube throught a special distributive of Mozilla. Can anyone confirm launching Linux ports of Windows games on XDSL, and which ones? Counter Strike port for Linux would be awesome, never tried that, but found a port of 1.4 or 1.5 on the web. Maybe anyone kept a website on Xbox, by using it as server? What I was most impressed of, is the posibility of running a cluster of Xbox-es, tried that few years ago, but the update links for that distro were all dead, hope somebody has an image of a Linux distributive with everything set up or maybe can point on how to fully install everything in 2018. Do I understand correctly. that the cluster's power is all node's powers summarized, for example as the picture shows , is 12 x 733 mhz = 8796mhz? http://www.bgfax.com/xbox/home.html https://www.anandtech.com/show/1539/8 http://www.xl-cluster.org/index.php
  7. Hey everybody!! I hope you're having a fantastic day!!! I just opened up my XBOX V1.1 that, (18 years ago) I soldered a single core wire strand through from the back of the board to the top of the board. I cannot recall the specific tech that I was following from way way way back when, but I can't find any sort of photos online covering exactly what I was doing at the time!?? All I can remember from all of this memory delving is the phrase "If the bios is corrupted, then the TSOP will boot from backup", or something to that specific ilk. None of the TSOP bridging points are exacting the nature of what I did. The box was 100%%% operational to previous stock constraints, booting every time that I powered on, without a hitch, stutter or glitch, for about 4 years or so of operation. I did set the clock after each boot (which probably does mean that I still need to replace the clock capacitor), however I cannot see any specific electrolyte leakage on the board surrounding that capacitor, which is interesting. Anyway. I soldered to one specific junction on the back and taped the other end in place on the top - the tape has since disappeared along with the end of the wire that I was passing through the specific through port junction on the top of the board. I don't know where I was jumping the wire to. I can't find anyone doing this specific procedure concerning TSOP/General Repair at the current point? Is this an outmoded repair? Did people just stop doing this? What on earth was I doing? Anyway, the photos are attached, and I'm WILDLY interested to know what memories might be jogged from anyone's experience repairing the OG XBOX after seeing these photos.
  8. Ok, I like many games. But there is just something about this one in particular!
  9. Hello everybody, I have XVGM installed on my 750gb hard drive Xbox. Some videos previews show and others do not. I checked that I have the game and a video preview for it, but it does not show. What could it be?
  10. Hey Everyone, I just recently got a xbox 1.6 in great shape! super clean and a like new shell. I installed OpenXenium chip inside, upgraded the drive to a 2TB SATA (may go to a 500GB IDE I have hanging around maybe) upgraded to a 80 wire IDE, and it works well, only issue is. The DVD drive is DOA. I found it cheaper to buy another xbox for parts than a working/tested drive on ebay. So I paid $5 +SH for another xbox. This one was listed AS IS and not working, case was fair shape. I got it, it's a version 1.0 and seems to work just fine, the DVD drive works as it should. I placed it into my 1.6 and it's fine. Question now is... do I keep the 1.6 xbox as is and call it a day? or should I move the modchip (it's only plug and play really, just gotta solder new header pins to the 1.0 xbox) to the 1.0 xbox? should I go with the 500GB IDE or 2TB SATA? could I move the heatsink from the 1.6 to the 1.0GPU to get rid of the fan on the GPU cooler on the 1.0? and I would assume the system shell is universal and I could use it either way. With the parts I have, what can I do to make the best xbox I could? Thanks everyone! ~John
  11. Just wondering... as title says, what is the procedure you use and/or prefer to transfer your ISO games to HDD? I see "Qwix" does this, but I also read something about "C-Xbox". Both seem to do basically the same things more or less. What's your experience about this matter? Do you know any other software for this purpose? My OSs are mostly linux based, I have no windows machines, so if something for linux exists I'm happy to hear. However, I can use windows virtual machines. Thank you, have a good day. Sceriffo
  12. What could I expect to get for my old modded xbox? Xecuter 3 chip, control panel and lcd screen. Blue light in the top. Upgraded hdd I think is 250gig. Xbmc, xbox games on the hdd, emulators etc. Dvd remote, 2 controllers.
  13. So after I pieced together some old XDK units I have become excited about the original xbox again. This got me to thinking what would the "Ultimate Xbox" include for you? If you had a custom case to include it all what would you include?
  14. hi, i have got my xbit 1.5 to work after 5 days messing with it i have loaded the iND-BiOS.Beta.Feb-11-05.67.bin (256k) and when i start the xbox i see a screen saying ind bios. but then it load to the standart dashboard with no new options. do i need now a hexen dvd and make a softmod to unlock everything? i thought when you dissable the modchip the xbox will start up in stock config, but when i softmod it this will still be active. what should i do next after booting the new bios: make a softmod or get another dashboard? i think it goes only like this: softmod and then the installation of a dashboard. thanks for your advice
  15. Hi, Is using XBMC is the only way to get the box art in the dashboard ? Regards,
  16. My OG xbox wont turn on. Not a single bulging or leaky cap. I was going to replace all the caps but I noticed this and I dont know what it is, how to tell if its bad or how to order a new one. It looks kinda burned on the top but it just appears to be the rubber and not the part itself. is there a way to check it with a multi meter. The part I am asking about is the one in the first picture
  17. I was trying to transfer games through FTP using FileZilla in Linux Mint 19.3 to my Soft Modded Xbox which has a 1TB WD SATA HDD (model: WD10JPVX). I configured the Xbox Network settings to a maximmum of 5 users and FileZilla to 4. Every time I tried to tranffer a file, the user counter on the Xbox went up to 5 and FileZilla started showing errors. So I booted Windows 10 with FileZilla. Still, had the same problem. Anyway, I deleted a Game Folder (4gb) from the "G" partition. Suddenly the Message Log window started showing a list of errors. When it finish, I went to the "Games" section on the Xbox and there where no games and the "G" partition which is about 800GB (I believe), had only 4GB free. So I though the the partition was corrupted. I decided to go to the format menu on UnleashX and format the "G" partition. After formating, the "G" partition sowed its true size. So I used "WinSCP" instead of FileZilla to transfer the files. Everyhting was good. It did transfer a lot of games, till I got an error: "Copying files to remote side failed. /G/Games/filename* Directory not found. At this point I had 560 GB free in the "G" partition. Someone suggested to do a clean install and wipe the disk. So I followed a youtube tutorial by Mr. Mario. Put the stock HDD back, Hot Swap the 1TB HDD as slave, started Chimp 261812 and it said that the slave hdd (1TB softmodded) was lock. So I tried to unlock the HDD with all the options given by Chimp and it remain lock. The options were: Unlock... From Motherboard From /tmp/eeprom.bin From Master password: XBOXSCENE From Master Password: TEAMASSEMBLY From /tmp/hddkey.txt So I retrieve the Stock HDD and put the 1TB Back in and... now the xbox wont boot. It says: Service required. Call Customer Service. I don't know if the HDD is faulty... I tried to run a test by putting the HDD into my laptop but it ask for a HDD Master Password and tried XBOXSCENE and TEAMASSEMBLY but they were invalid. I don't know what elese to do. Don't know how to unlock it or if its Faulty at this point. Should I buy a 2TB at this point? I don't know which 2TB model would work...
  18. Have 2 hard modded Xbox and trying to upgrade to 500gb haven't messed like this in years :( figures crossed it works for me.
  19. Hi everyone. What Xecuter MOD Chip is this? I tried browsing the stickies but couldn't find a matching picture. The only thing I remember is that this was solderless. Also, is there a diagram somewhere that I can solder it into the XBOX instead? Thanks in advance.
  20. Hey guys, I picked up one of N64Freak’s boxes a couple months back and will soon be getting all my hardware going again. I’m curious what you all were suggesting I do with it! A couple things I know I want to look into: PSX/N64 emulation sound enticing, as I’ve had some issues with this on stock systems. Trying to get it to start up as fast as possible via configuration injection is another goal, but I need to get this working on one of my stock machines first and after spending too long on it I nuked the system on accident, I think by flashing a bfm BIOS where I should’ve done a normal one. I also wanna overclock this bad boy and see how far it will go. But it needs better cooling to even attempt that, and of course I need to do this on a stock console properly before I fiddle around with it on here. Thanks for your ideas, guys!
  21. Looking for a recommended setup for a stock 8gb softmod gaming wise. Curious as to what people would use the small amount of space for. Any homebrew or emulators that are a must?
  22. Just trying to get a better read on my CPU for patching games. 1480 works on some but others are a bit more finicky.
  23. Hey guys, just doing some softmods and new paint jobs. Was wondering what everyone thought of them.
  24. Hi, what disks are best for making a copy of the HeXEn disk and what software and burn speed would you recommend? Thanks
