I found my old Xbox OG in a cupboard and decided I fancied getting it out and playing some old games I had. It boots up to the old dashboard I had (Avalaunch 0.49.3) and games play etc. Reading the latest on the new features of the Xbox OG Modding scene, I see I can now put much bigger HDDs into it as well as some other features such as Cerbios CCIs etc. I'd like to update my BIOS but I can't get into XeniumOS (XOS) to flash the Cerbios .bin - The OpenXenium BIOS utility by MakeMHz says I am on an older version and need to be on 2.5 at least, but I cannot get there either. I've read that powering on with Eject can reboot to XOS or holding the white button (small problem that I don't have the original controllers anymore and am using a Brook Wingman XB2, so maybe that prevents the white button [Left Trigger] being detected at startup). Its such a long time since I did all this I have forgotten everything I learned back when I modded it LOL My aim is to have all my games on a single HDD and use xbmc4gamers|xbmc-emustation as a nice menu system to choose.

For some reason while trying to flash a new bios to my TSOP I got a message saying 'programming failed', and now I get no picture when my console boots and the LED flashed red and green. So i'm thinking it's bricked. I was wondering if I installed a mod chip would this then save the console? I've seen an 'Aladdin XT+4032 X2 Plus' on eBay and the installation seems very simple for these chips.

My LE Green Xbox which is very little used and has been kept in practically retail state (never opened) completely out of the blue decided to start itself the moment I turn on the main's power. Its been connected to the same power block as my most used Xboxes for years so when either are on it will have been getting some power to the clock cap but TBH I can't remember when it was last actually used; it has to be at least a month ago. Then this. It won't turn off using the Xbox power button but will turn off using the UnleashX menu option > Shutdown but then immediately powers up again. Its working perfectly otherwise. Clearly something has happened, probably partly due to the hot weather but what? My theory is that I made a big mistake keeping it plugged in so that when the other Xboxes were being used its clock cap was indeed being charged. Despite it not being used regularly that has led to its premature ageing and leaking, doing some sort of damage. I suspect I'll only know if that is correct by cracking open the case which I specifically did not and still do not want to do. So if the cause could be something else which doesn't required me to take its virginity advice would be appreciated.

Hi all, I have an issue with my XBOX that doesn't power on anymore. Model: 1.2 TSOP: Yes, iND-2003 Mods: None other than removal of the clock capacitor Misc: Using the Chimeric Systems HDMI adapter (which is awesome) Yesterday I received a new modchip from eBay, the Xenium Gold with the 24K OS on it. I swapped out my old Aladdin chip and fired it up with no issues. I proceeded to add EvoxM8+, iND-2004, and XBlast on it. I tested all 3 BIOS and they all worked fine. From here I decided to do the 128mb RAM upgrade. I've successfully performed this upgrade once before. I'm using the same RAM that I purchased from eBay over a year ago that worked on my previous install on my other 1.3 XBOX: SAMSUNG 525 K4D263238F-QC50 I proceeded to solder in all the chips, but when I went to turn on the XBOX nothing happened. No light, no response, nothing. I don't ever recall hearing a pop or a snap. I double checked that I connected everything. Troubleshooting: - I thought it might be the PSU so I swapped in the working PSU from the 1.3 XBOX that I successfully did the RAM upgrade on and the same results. - The only thing I noticed was that when I pressed eject or power on either PSU, the Xenium chip LED lit up. If I held either button the LED just flashed. Other than that, no activity from the board whatsoever - One thing I noticed is that I soldered the final chip in backwards (chip 4 according to the XBlast diagram, the one closest to the ATX plug). I should have taken a break after 2 chips due to fatigue but I pushed through and I guess I wasn't paying attention. I used my hot rework station to pull the chip off and turn it around. Same results. - After this I decided to just pull the other 3 chips off to troubleshoot it from scratch, but no joy. - The repairs for power buttons I've seen after searching are mostly just the trace repairs on the 1.0/1.1. I'm not great at troubleshooting so I wouldn't know where to begin without a guide on the 1.2 XBOX. Did I fry the board somehow? Did putting the RAM in backwards just kill it? Did I ESD shock it? Did I get the iron next to something that I shouldn't have for too long and didn't notice? Here's some pics I uploaded to imgur since they're too big. I was bored this evening so I pulled out an Xbox and TSOP'd it with iND-BIOS and installed a new old-stock 500GB IDE Maxtor hard drive. The clock capacitor has been removed, the DVD drive (Samsung) has a new drive belt installed and the case has been cleaned and polished-up, looks great. Currently transferring over XBMC4Gamers as the primary dash and all emulators are outfitted with the ResurrectionXtras video and box art/screen shot packs-- speaking of emulators, this includes the latest build of EWJ's curated Surreal64 romset, and almost every game runs great. The controller is in great condition as well, disassembled and shell cleaned. Asking $90+shipping if anyone is interested. Thanks!
