About Me

  1. Hello Xbox friends. I plan to play Shenmues 1 to 3 (father of all open world games by Yu Suzuki and SEGA) on macOS and Windows and want to use a controller that's as close to the Dreamcast as possible (I understand the Xbox is popularly known as the spiritual successor of the Dreamcast with Microsoft collaborating on Windows CE on the Dreamcast), also I like that it's big and won't cramp my hands but will an Xbox 360 USB breakaway cable work with the Xbox "Duke" controller flawlessly? Do they have the same exact pinouts? Thank you in advance. God bless, Revelation 21:4
  2. Hi, I recently bought four xbox one controllers not tested for repair them, I had very good surprises in the lot, only one needs micro soldering to be repaired, except that the problem comes that controllers are not 100% official (both brands appear have permissions from Microsoft to manufacture and sell controllers), the controller in question is a PowerA and I have to change the micro USB port except that I can't find a replacement micro USB port on the net and no one seems to have documented this subject, I wanted to know if one of you had already changed a micro USB port of a PowerA controller and if he still had the reference of the port used for the repair, thanks. Have a good day
  3. I have noticed over the years that some devices don't like to be formatted on the Xbox and won't produce that one specific error you want in order to format it. Had this floating around on my Mediafire so figured I might as well post it here for those that don't have it. http://www.mediafire.com/file/8izx2p16papozbj/USBFATXFormatter_v1_3_2.rar
  4. I'm not a huge fan of mounting PCBs on the outside of my Xbox, so I came up with a way to use controller ports with an internal OGX360 (latest firmware supports OG controllers) and I thought I'd share. This is just a USB hub designed to use the Xbox's proprietary connectors, your motherboard plugs into the OGX360's Pro Micro boards, the OGX360 and controller port cables plug into the hub. I included a few extra headers, two are for video sync lines (CLK A and CLK B) which get passed from the motherboard to the controller ports, though I have not tested if OG Xbox lightguns will work (I don't have any). There's also a DC header so you can power the hub/peripherals from a +5V source inside the Xbox, I've been using the Molex HDD connector so no soldering is required to install it. The power source automatically switches to the DC header once a +5V source is plugged in (using a TPS2116DRLR power switch). If all you want to use is a 360 wireless PC adapter, the extra power isn't really needed. It mounts on the rf shield, above the middle tab for the faceplate. The latest version of the board (pictured above) fits all Xbox models: Here's the link to the GitHub, it includes wiring diagrams for making your own cables and gerbers for that USB adapter^ A couple of notes: Memory cards will not work with this, OG Xbox communicators probably won't work either. v1.6 Xboxes need cable extensions for their controller ports since their wires are too short to reach the hub. If anyone has an OGX360 and a lightgun setup, I'd be willing to send out a kit with video sync headers and connectors to test and see if they work.
  5. Hi all, Long time modder and lurker, first time poster but I wanted to share a project I have been working on the last couple months. It is a small PCB which allows you to use Wireless Xbox 360 controllers (via the Xbox 360 USB Wireless Receiver) on an OG Xbox console. The design is loosely based on another similar project I did for the Nintendo 64 console https://imgur.com/gallery/HVLea3d Following the release of this board another forum user sent me an email asking if this device could be adapted for the OG Xbox, and funnily enough that was the next thing I was going to attempt! I wanted to support the following features atleast: Up to four players with rumble support. 100% USB Bus Powered so no external power supply needed. Fast bootup time, so it's up and running in time for the OG Xbox. Low input lag. As always, this is a hard thing to measure, however I can say that an OG Xbox controller is polled by the console every 4ms or so. My software gathers all the Xbox 360 wireless controller data, collates it and generates all the HID reports every 4 ms aswell. It's possible an input may miss this 4ms window, so would happen in the next 4ms window. As you probably know, an OG Xbox controller is basically a USB HID device, however it has some custom requests and other slight differences, meaning that it doesn't work on a Windows machine without a custom driver, and conversely a generic HID controller will not work in an OG Xbox so there was some work in getting a reliable and compatible solution working. To support four controllers, it is necessary to have 4x Full USB device controllers. However I imagine most people would rarely play with 4 people at once so my design is modular meaning you can support anywhere from one up to 4 players as required to keep cost down. This is a link to the github repo with what I came up with https://github.com/Ryzee119/ogx360 A link to my etsy store where you can buy one pre-assembled https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/672315615/ogx360-add-wireless-xbox-360-controller Cheers!
  6. I have installed a USB SD Card reader onto Controller Port 1 and that part appears to work great! Unfortunately however, the controller "locks" and will not respond! Im wondering if the 4GB limit might apply to the Controller I/O Scheme causing it to "leak over" the current limit installed as port 2 also does the same thing and it also has a USB Reader also attached to it as well. The controller DOES FUNCTION great in ports 3 and 4 where the USB is NOT installed.
  7. I have a very basic non-multimedia USB keyboard and a USB->Xbox adapter, such as what you might use for a soft mod. I can't seem to get it to work with PSO, or even the network settings page (I tried typing in 192.168 etc). I've also tried using the X3CP faceplate USB ports but same problem there too, no reaction. Am I doing something wrong? Would be cool to be able to type in PSO or use it in Xbmc4Gamers.
  8. Modded one of my spare keyboards to be used exclusively for the XBOX. Would like to document because any search results for XBOX keyboard support would lead to slim and unrelated results. Any practical uses for it aside from typing faster in XBMC4XBOX? Tried homebrew like Half-Life but even that didn't any drivers which I think would have been added since the Playstation 2 port did have full support for USB keyboards. I heard Fantasy Star Online for XBOX supported USB keyboards through an adapter and the Insignia closed beta is conveniently close so I will get to see if my keyboard would work or if the Fantasy Star USB adapter is proprietary. I do know about XDSL and Xebain and it does have plug and play USB drivers but my XBOX is not 128mb or CPU modded so there wouldn't be much to do that I could think off the top of my head. Used a replacement XBOX controller cable I ordered from Aliexpress so no worries about wasting a hard to replace XBOX controller cable. Was my best option actually since the Aliexpress cables where unshielded and not grounded. Also didn't have the AV light gun wire so that would cut many opportunities for controller modding if I used it for any of my broken controllers. 9. Anyone been able to use the app for the diymore Lattice USB Download Programmer on Windows 10 and are there drivers for x64? The only file pack I found and downloaded, is unable to install the drivers, If I try to update manually through device manager it says drivers found but they maybe currept and unable to install.
  10. using command: "wmic diskdrive get model, name". Results are: Model Name Innostor Ext. HDD USB Device \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE4 fatxplorer 3.0 is not detecting it too.
  11. Maybe someone has explored this already but I haven't found anything so far. My idea is to split the SATA connection on a hard drive, connect it to a USB adapter, and have the other end of the adapter connected to a female USB port on the case. If this would work at all, an obvious issue would be powering the drive while the console is off so I'm thinking a SATA to USB y-adapter. 2 ports would need to be plugged in, one data/power and one power. Another (stupid) idea is using the Xbox's power for the drive, hooking up the optical drive's power connections to an external on/off switch to force error 12. Maybe useful for locked drives? Not sure, I'm curious if the HDD would be safe to connect to or even connectable at the error screen while still having the IDE cable plugged in or if a SATA selector/switch would be needed to achieve the same effect of a hotswap. I'm also not sure which of the optical drive's power connections would need to be on the on/off switch to achieve the error, likely not all of them and a 24 connection switch would probably have to be custom so that's a no-go if it is all 12 wires. The other way looks easier/safer and would probably be the only one worth doing. Anyway, the point would be fast read/write speeds without opening the console ever again. Edit: Did some more research and I'm pretty this is impossible since you can't split a hard drives data connection, sad about it
  12. Hey everyone. So, I find myself in a unique situation. I will try to break down my problem as simply as possible: ::I have an S-Type (small) Original Xbox controller with a bad cable. I only have this one controller. ::I do not have a breakaway cable to connect the controller to the Xbox, BUT I have an Xbox controller port to female USB port cable. (pictured here: https://ibb.co/wJTTYfL ) My question is this: could I desolder the Xbox controller cable from the controller board and solder on a USB cable with a standard type-A (male) USB connector to connect to the Xbox, through the pictured-above female USB port?
  13. Xbox original controller modded communicator shell with power button and USB port.... This requires modifications to be done to the console for this to function with the power button. USB port works as is. make sure you Google what this is before you ask me any questions. $20 USA Shipped. Cash App or PayPal goods and services only
  14. Xbox original controller to USB cable. $7 USA Shipped. Cash App or PayPal goods and services only.
  15. I wasn't sure where to put this thread, but it is still Xbox related. I have a box full of IDE hdds that I'd like to sort through without having an Xbox run for hours to power them. I've been trying to find a guide or video tutorial on converting a 12V wall adapter or a usb device(if possible) to power the IDE drive. I e found one video that is pretty close to what I want and it suggests using a regulator and switch. I'm hoping for a simpler solution as I have a ton of old wall adapters lying around.

    XboxHDM USB

Hey everyone, So, I set up a Raspberry Pi 2 to read eeprom from a 1.1 board. After more than a few attempts I realized my problems were due to operator error (ie. me). Nonetheless I got it to work and now I can recover eeprom from some boards I have. Excellent. New life skill. I also have some Seagate and WD drives from original xbox that I attempted to use XboxHDM. Hooked everything up through USB adapter (see photo). Here's the issue. I could identify both drives when I connected them. However I could not unlock them. To troubleshoot, I tried a 500GB WD Sata through the same USB adapter and proceeded to setup that drive. I now have the eeprom transferred and a working softmodded 1.1. Great! After more reading, I tried to access the old Seagate and WD drives again. Now I can't identify the drives through XboxHDM even though I did before. I've tried multiple times. Tried every jumper setting on both drives, but no luck. I even tried other versions of XboxHDM. Quite possibly I just ran out of talent and this is more "operator error". Does anyone have any suggestions?
  18. I was given two broken original Xbox consoles to try and fix. After fixing the issues with one of them, I tried to test it. As I didn't have a controller for it I bought an adapter like the one in the picture (Adapter) to try and use either a USB arcade stick or one of my wired controllers for PC, Xbox 360, or Xbox One. I eventually bought a controller for it as I could not get anything to work with this adapter. So I am wondering, does this adapter serve any purpose? Has anybody gotten an arcade stick kit like the one in the second picture to work on the original Xbox?
  19. Hello I'd like to make some 720p patches for my PAL games but I cannot copy files from Xbox to USB, I dont see operation copy in file managers (Xbmc, Dvd2copy etc.). In the other hand I can copy FROM Usb TO Xbox, any help, please?
  20. This might interest those that want to turn their retail/debug Xbox into a fully-functioning development kit without having to spend $500+ on one. It works on any version 1.0 through 1.2 motherboard and can be great for troubleshooting crashes of all kinds without requiring the use of XDK software. I'm selling pre-made units for $30 plus shipping and would also like to get a feel for how many might want one in Europe so I can bulk-ship to a distributor to help save some on shipping costs as it's usually around $15 USD to ship from the US otherwise. Everything is fully open-source if you'd like to build/sell them yourself as well. Any questions, feel free to ask. https://github.com/XboxDev/serial-usb-adapter
  21. I bought a Blaster CK3 USB and now im after some drivers for these thing because, Team Xectuter was so smart to host there fils on a free host and they are all down. So maybe any one of you have a copy of these drivers or know where to get them?
  22. I’ve seen a number of YouTube videos of people showing off their Xbox mods. Several of them had replaced one or more game pad ports with USB ports. Is there a way to read and write to a USB port from the dashboard file managers? And is the USB 1.1 or 2.0?
  23. I am just curious what one of these is worth. I currently do not own one and just want to know what it is valued at. Thanks in advance. https://imgur.com/PXCsIOa
  24. The kids broke the connectors inside the front USB ports on my Falcon. Does anyone know where I can order replacement parts? I know it has to be soldered to the motherboard; I'm pretty handy with a desolderer. :-) Searched Digikey without success. The USB ports are the rectangular silver box in the front right corner of this photo. Much obliged.

    Wireless Usb

Not sure if this is being posted in the right place. I just began my first modified xbox project. I made a controller port to USB adaptor. I tested that it works by attaching a usb controller (I modified an xbox controller to use on pc last month). I want to use the adaptor to be able to connect a wireless keyboard/mouse, but i cannot for a lot of information regarding this. Are there settings I need to modify somewhere, or is there not a lot of success with wireless? The keyboard/mouse combo is the Logitech Wave Combo. I flashed the Winbond TSOP with EvoX M8 from the HeXEn 2018 disc. If anyone can help and needs more information, please let me know.
