About Me

  1. Hi there, Noob that just join this community for some solid advice/direction for my upgrade, I have a working 1.6A xbox with a Super Aladdin Live modchip running XBMC on a 80 Gb IDE HDD My aim is to upgrade the HDD to a 500 Gb Sata HDD (I know I could go bigger) and also upgrade to Rocky 5 instead.... I currently have: - The 80 wire/40 pin IDE cable (ATA 100/133) - IDE to Sata converter - 500Gb Sata HDD What are my options? Do I have to hot swap the HDD with the disk drive with a program running on the xbox ? Thanks in advance for any help or links for guides/programs to help me !!
  2. Hi peeps, i just upgraded my 160Gb to a 500Gb Sata. New 80 wire ide cable etc, cloned with Chimp 261812 which took 6 hours to clone drive F where the games are installed........ Rebooted xbox and F is only showing 120Gb, so i used XBpartitioner to resize it which deleted all my games lol aggrrraaaaaaaaa..... Then F only was showing just under 300Gb ? The only way i could get my 500Gb was split it over F and G. My setup is Xbox v1.2 Softmod Rocky5 latest version Sata adapter the green one with the 2 capacitors and jumper on the right 80 wire IDE cacble 500Gb Sata WD HDD Thanks all for any advice, i really appreciate it.
  3. I’m attempting to upgrade to a 1 TB SATA HDD. I have the following: Xbox 1.4 Aladdin Advance modchip EvoX M8+ (EvoX.m8.ece.67.noDVD.UX.256.bin flashed from OGX Installer 1.5.4. MD5 4737a026fde9e799d9c7392d05971505) Seagate ST1000DM003 1 TB SATA HDD StarTech IDE2SAT2 adapter Gigabyte 80-wire IDE cable OGX Installer 1.5.4 (DVD-R burnt with slowest speed) I installed the SATA HDD and initially used the stock 40-wire IDE cable since the 80-wire IDE cable is a tight fit. I booted the Xbox with OGX Installer to setup the HDD. The DVD drive tries to load the disc but makes strange noises. It sounds like the laser head is stuck in a loop. It doesn’t do this when I boot the disc without the IDE2SAT2 adapter. After 30 seconds I ejected the disc as I didn’t want to possibly damage the DVD drive. I got the same result with the 80-wire IDE cable. I also tried the IDE2SAT2 adapter in master and cable select mode. The SATA HDD is listed in the Xbox Hard Drive Compatibility Chart, but I don’t think that matters since I’m using a modchip and the drive doesn’t need to be locked. The BIOS I’m using should have LBA48 support. What would be the most likely cause of this issue?
  4. I would like to use my Xbox as an Arcade emulation machine but found that certain games don't run at full speed (e.g Outrunners plays at 40fps most of the time, Outzone has lots of slowdown when there's any paralax or lots happening on screen, etc). I was wondering if an Xbox with the 128mb RAM upgrade would help with these performance problems?
  5. Hello guys, I just updated the fan of my Xbox and want to set now the default value of the fan to 100%. Unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine to edit the evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin. If someone can tell me how to edit it on a Mac I'm also can also change it myself. Thanks for your help. Regards Nikolaj
  6. Hello guys, This is my first post on this great forum, lots of info and input is amazing! The reason of this probably repeated post is that I want to upgrade my HDD to a 1TB or 2TB HDD (what's the max capacity I can go with my motherboard?), I watched lots of tutorials and seems the way to go is using OGXBox (downloaded and burned version 1.5.3 to a DVD, also have TruHeXEn 2021 on another DVD disc if needed) my questions are mostly regarding how to proceed now, I got this console from a very good friend some 15 years ago, and it was modded as it alwas played back up DVD's, I opened the console to look if there was any physical chip or mod to the board but couldn't find any or I'm too dumb to detect it, seems like it is only soft modded? Current BIOS and Dash versions are attached in pics along with more pics of the motherboard so I don't know if you guys can see any mods performed to it. I already purchased the SATA to IDE adapter and performed the 80 way/40 pin IDE cable conversion and everything seems to be working after that I was able to play my backup DVDs and play from the original HDD as well, so basically which route do I follow now? because I don't want to perform something that might brick the console by interfering with the already installed mod, also is there any specific model of 3.5" SATA HDD I need to choose?, I know there's like a list of working/locked HDD so do I need to consider that when purchasing my new HDD? I was plannig to get a WD blue or Seagate Barracuda. Thank you very much for all your help guys!
  7. I have had a 200GG Seagate and X3 chip since it was released and recently I decided I wanted to try an SSD. I got a 2TB SSD Loaded it up made my way to getting the partitions setup with a split between F/G as 64k sectors and moved all files over. When I run my games however the save files are all unavailable. I'm figuring there is something to this but of everything I've found I've not found anything to address this. Also when I run burnout 3 I'm limited to like 30-40km/h. Just not sure what I"m missing with this.
  8. Having started with a soft mod, then TSPOP and finally installing an open xenium with the help of this great community I've decided to go to the next level. I've received the RAM below in the post today and just checking if this will be okay to use for upgrading to 128mb on one of my experement xbox's? I've also read somewhere that you can install one chip at a time and test it through the the one of the BIOS's that is specially made for this. Then I can continue to add more after each successful chip install!!!
  9. hello guys i have an xbox with 80gb hard drive i have another 120gb hard drive my question is how i can replace it with the 80gb my xbox has Aladdin modchip
  10. I'm hoping someone can clarify the process for upgrading my HDD as looking to store games/emulator etc as the end result. I've already prepped the board for a TSOP mod with the links whilst soldering on extra RAM. To upgrade my HDD my understanding is the following: Softmod First? TSOP Then can fit bigger HDD? I've managed to find a unicorn WD Blue IDE 320GB HDD and thinking I could just image the drive and clone using Macrium? Then extend the partition to fill the 320GB drive I have - Would that work or do I need to use any extra/special tools? The information is available in places but it all seems scattered some just say TSOP but others say to TSOP you need to softmod first? It's been a while since I've had time to play with it again - booted up and played some games on it for the first time since fitting the RAM months ago only last night! Thanks
  11. On a TSOP v1.0 Xbox running x2 5035 bios, is there anything I have to to do to enable using the additional ram?
  12. Hello, I am currently getting ready to upgrade my xbox HDD to a 2tb one. My question is how much space should I give to each partition? Realistically I'm going to fill this thing up with most of the emulators I can run on the xbox while being able to fit as many original xbox games on it as well. How have some of you done this? Thanks I'm not sure I'd be putting a playstation emulator/games on here because I'm not sure if the compatibility has improved on that front. Whats the latest on playstation emulation?
  13. Performed ram upgrade with 1 chip in area 4 near CPU using soldering iron using Ali express bought chips. X blast on spiderchip loaded first time but Ram test failed. Attempted reflow of chip using SMD hot air station. Modchip won't boot blue light on modchip illuminated. Xbox either goes on off 2 times and then flashes red and green or else when I disconnect modchip the Xbox logo displays with error 07 then flashes red green. Not sure if modchip isnt working now. Wondering is this normal behavior as I'm getting a normal Xbox boot up without modchip?
  14. I wonder if it's a RAM compatibility issue or indicating definitely damaged RAM IC? Does anyone know the max temp the RAM ICs are rated for? I am working with a 1.4 revision board and an OpenXenium which should be booting straight to XBlast. I haven't seen much info anywhere about a solid green LED in the process of a RAM upgrade. However when I've got a chip installed it power cycles twice then goes to solid green LED but no video and the OpenXenium LED is yellow whereas if XBlast were to have booted the OpenXenium LED would be green. The board has default K4D263238D-QC50 and I have tested adding K4D263238M-QC50 (salvaged from a 1.0 revision board) and K4D263238F-QC50 (bought new on eBay but I used them). No additional RAM boots and works fine. Does the yellow LED on the OpenXenium indicate anything useful? What about the solid green LED on the console? Thanks
  15. Hi Im in the process of upgrading my ram. The mod chip im using is an x2.6 with ind-bios. I have the xblastos xbe installed on my HDD. My thinking was that I could boot to my dashboard then launch the xblastos xbe to check each ram chip. However, upon powering on the xbox, it boots three times and the led's flash red and orange. My question is do I need the xblast bios flashed to my modchip for the xbox to boot during the upgrade or have I made a mistake during the installation? Im quite confident about my soldering. Checking under x60 magnification and lots of light tia
  16. I'm looking to get a modded XBOX but wonder if paying extra for a system with a 128mb ram upgrade is worth it. I don't have much interest in emulators. I want one to play XBOX titles. I'm intrigued by being able to use more 720p patches with the 128mb, but do patched games run well enough?
  17. I've heard the RAM upgrade does boost the emulators running better. However what emulators benefit the most from this? Playstation / N64? Is there anyone who has done this and can confirm or show a performance boost for Playstation emulation?
  18. Hello everyone! I want to perform RAM upgrade on my Xbox but I don't know which RAM I should buy. Here is the picture of the RAM from my Xbox: SAMSUNG K4D263238F-QC50 So my question is which RAM should I buy? I found a couple of RAM chips on ebay and AliExpress but I don't know are they going to work on my Xbox. Here is the list: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32890729020.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.7efb2e0eCU8Qyr https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-Samsung-K4D263238M-QC50-128M-DDR-SDRAM-1PCS-NEW/123866715285 And, thanks in advance!
  19. Hello, i change my hdd drive to bigger 1tb drive and after succesful cloning i tried to format the new drive with XBpartitioner 1.3 and it complained about "LBA48 info not found! etc..(pic bellow) i tried to flash new bios with hexen 2018 but then that complained about "flash not writeable". i wonderd that do i need to get somewhere the newest bios and put it directly to my modchip via usb cable. our am i missing some step in this setup?
  20. Hello guys, I just upgraded my softmodded Xbox to a 500gb sata drive. Everything works great but.. it takes like 30 seconds to boot up which is kind of annoying. Could this be because of the sata adapter I'm using? I'm using an 80-wire ide cable so I know that's not the issue. Or are slower boot times normal? I haven't modded one of these for years. Just wondering, thanks.
  21. Hey guys, happy new year! A few months ago I was given an original Crystal Xbox. As someone who has always been on the Sony side of consoles, I admit, I don't know much about Xbox. However I was told that the Xbox was running EvoX (Can be confirmed, when I turn the Xbox on, there is an EvoX icon on the left hand side of the boot screen) and that the Xbox had a modchip inside. The Xbox has been sitting under my bed for a while and I thought today I would dust it out and upgrade the internal HDD. The IDE hard drive inside the Xbox was only 80GB and I had a spare 250GB IDE hard drive I wasn't using. -- So I went ahead and followed this tutorial: Basically I downloaded Hexen 2018 > burned the image to a DVD > put the DVD inside my Xbox > replaced the old IDE HDD with the 250GB one > booted into Hexen 2018 > went into Disk Upgrades > From there I followed the process. After the files had copied over from the DVD, XBPartitioner 1.3 booted up and I made sure that I set the F drive to the full 250GB. From there the process was complete. I took the Hexen 2018 DVD out of my Xbox and the UnleashX dashboard popped up. BUT when I look at the drive details on the upper left corner. I can see that there is only around 120gb free on (F:). Whenever I try to boot XBPartitioner from the dashboard menu, I get the following error: "LBA48 info not found! Custom Partitions will not work with this BIOS! Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2." I done a bit of research and it LOOKS like I need to update my BIOS. But honestly as someone who has no clue what they're doing, this frightens the hell out of me. So that leads me to this post... I'm looking for some help which can preferably be explained in as simple detail as possible, I literally need someone to spoon feed me the steps. I would be so grateful and appreciate it! EXTRA INFORMATION - If I load into the EvolutionX dashboard I can see the follow details, which might be relevant. BIOS: EvoX M8 (1.6) Kernal: 1.00.5838.01 EvolutionX V+3935

  23. Hello I got some problem with upgrade my Evox M7, I cant use my G drive so I decided to upgrade Evox, but it is locked (?) I tried to do it with Slayer 2.7, I got 1.5 Xbox, is there any solution to that problem? Thank You
  24. So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb. I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine. Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now. ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/z74Mzxe Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). I guess it was pretty good: https://imgur.com/a/6DlSKuY. The residue is either flux or denaturated ethanol i used to clean it up. VIDEO:
  25. I tried to upgrade my V1.0 Xbox with 4 Samsung version F RAM chips but it won’t boot. I’ve got an OpenXenium mod chip installed but I’ve tried booting both with and without yet it still flashes. Anyone know what this means/ anyway to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
