About Me

  1. Hi i have a Xbox 1.0 with a corrupt bios and i discovered that the TSOP mod wasn’t done before i flashed it and ended up corrupting the bios. I tried the 3 wire trick and that didn’t work and can’t seem to find any bios reflash settings on the Open Xenium mod chip. So that really only leaves me with flashing a new chip and soldering it in. Is that the only option i have?
  2. I've got a 1.1 XBOX, made October 2002. I soft modded it using Rocky5 files and then did a TSOP flash with EVO X with F & G. All went well and I next tried to upgrade the HDD from the stock one to a Segate 2TB after upgrading the IDE cable to 80 wire one. I tried the first adapter from the top of the picture you see below but the XBOX didn't see the HDD, so then I tried the second adapter (middle one). The XBOX saw the HDD and HeXen 2018 loaded up from disc, it installed all the dash/app files, then usex XB Partioner to split F & G into equal sizes 926GB (approx if I recall from memory). At this point everything was going well and the XBOX would boot fine into dash, I even managed to transfer some games and then started installing XBMC and some emulators, during this the XBOX seemed to freeze and not respond. I rebooted the XBOX but it kept giving me error 7 and sometimes error 9. I tried everything possible including formatting the hard drive on the PC and reconnecting, tried other hard drives but all gave the same result. I then tried the first adapter from the top and the XBOX would boot but won't run anything from the DVD drive. Finally I bought the third IDE to SATA adapter, third one at the bottom of the picture and this arrived today This sadly has not changed the outcome and I continued now to get error 7 with all 3 different adapters With all this mentioned, the XBOX boots fine into dashboard with the original hard drive and current EVO X BIOS flash. I've also tried all jumper settings on both second and third adapter that has jumper pins. At this point I'm lost to what is the problem, could I just possibily ended up with 3 bad Chinese IDE to SATA adapters? I've ordered StarTech.com 40-Pin IDE PATA to SATA Adapter Converter and this will land in the next day or two for me to test. Any input on this would be appreciated.
  3. I'm hoping someone can clarify the process for upgrading my HDD as looking to store games/emulator etc as the end result. I've already prepped the board for a TSOP mod with the links whilst soldering on extra RAM. To upgrade my HDD my understanding is the following: Softmod First? TSOP Then can fit bigger HDD? I've managed to find a unicorn WD Blue IDE 320GB HDD and thinking I could just image the drive and clone using Macrium? Then extend the partition to fill the 320GB drive I have - Would that work or do I need to use any extra/special tools? The information is available in places but it all seems scattered some just say TSOP but others say to TSOP you need to softmod first? It's been a while since I've had time to play with it again - booted up and played some games on it for the first time since fitting the RAM months ago only last night! Thanks
  4. Are there any issues/conflicts I need to be aware of when tsoping my xbox? Ive been running a soft mod for a week or so and have a sata 500gb HDD locked with apps, games and of course a dash, XBMC4gamers. If so I can always put the original HDD in to tsop it that way but then am I good to go with putting the 500gb back and just straight booting? OR, do I need to reinstall everything? Any specific bios reccomendations? I will be using the drive as well as the HDD and on 1.4 I think. Certainly not 1.6
  5. I have a 1.0 with 128mb installed that is TSOP'd that without any of my own intervention started to frag (green light off, green light off, red green flashing). The only even prior was transferring games overnight via FTP. I'm not sure if something overheated or what but the xbox had frozen during the transfer and upon rebooting is when the frag started. I'd love some advice on how best to troubleshoot the issue. I installed a xblast lite to see if it was a TSOP issue and the outcome is still the same. Any ideas on what I should try next? I'm not noticing any caps that look out of sorts.
  6. Hello, I'm looking to Recover a bad Tsop Flash on a 1.4 board. I have an Aladdin XT on the way which will be my 3rd chip install. Been looking around and have a few questions. First, I understand being able to disconnect the D0 wire once booted with the chip would give me the option to tsop using Xblastos. My question comes from something else I'm looking into Eeprom recovery using a raspberry Pi, It accesses the I2C connection and pulls the Eeprom. Could I use the Pi and an LPC pinheader to reflash the original bios via tsop in a similar method?
  7. So i've bought a nice chip called a Jafar, a Rebuild of the Aladdin. It has 3 Banks. 1 512k, 1 256k and 1 256k with Xblast ( Autoboots ) Fitted this and it all works a charm, Now i'm thinking I might also Tsop it. Its a 1.4 Board. Could I simply solder the tsop points on the 1.4 board, Boot the chip into Xblastos which gives the option to flash the Tsop as well as the other 2 banks and flash it? Or would I need to look at removing some of the Chip? Maybe the g0 gound?
  8. About to tsop my 1.2. i have the latest og xbox installer disc, my 80 wire ide cable is ready to go, soft mod is in place, I have my sata 2.5 inch adapter and 250 gig hdd to put in. I also have my xonductive paint for the tsop. I have seen all the tutoruals on yt that i can find but i am stuck with wondering if i should use evox or ind bios. This will be my first time tsop flashing and adding a bigger drive. I havent even seen whats on the ogxb disc yet. Is there a tutorial on ogxb installer? Or any other suggestions?
  9. Hi All, This is my first foray into modding my original Xbox. I've identified the board as a 1.4 or a 1.5 (can't find out exactly which, but it has the Focus video chip). I can't find any information to help split between the two but it also looks like it's not that important either... Looks like I caught the clock capacitor just in time with some very minor markings on the top of it so that will be removed - it looks like it doesn't need fitting with a TSOP mod as this fixes the date? (RIP some of the best clock based cheats). I've got some K40263238D-QC50 RAM chips already in my system and looking to use it to run games off the HDD and emulators etc... From what I can find it looks like it's worthwhile upgrading this... other than this and the clock capacitor, are there any other recommended actions or mods whilst the mainboard is out? Do I need to do the TSOP mod first before the RAM upgrade? Cheers
  10. Need a second option. Is the trace to solder point missing ok to leave as is? It does not look like a via. So I think I am ok. The original xbox has a modchip. I was attempting to TSOP so I could use the modchip on a v1.6 xbox. When bridging the solder with tinned wire after I gave it a tug to check if it was attached properly and it was enough to rip out the trace and solder point.
  11. Hi! I have Xbox original v1.0. component cable I made Tsop and it work greate. I hope to make ram upgreade, but first i write XBlast OS on my bios. after rebut I donot see start console. XBlast OS in ThuHexen 2021 256kb Maybe it work only with composite cable? can i flash the bios with programmer ? it is posible ?
  12. Anyone have a strong opinion on which they prefer and why? I went with the softmod, but what are the pro's / con's of this compared to other methods? Especially modchips.
  13. Thank you in advance for any and all help provided, I was fortunate to have come across a X3 chip along with a X3 LCD Face plate. But my XBOX is TSOP, I haven't came across on the "how to" remove the TSOP instructions. Is this a possibility? My xbox is a v1.0 or v1.4(not a v1.6) I have ind bios. I don't think I made a backup of my EEPROM when I did the TSOP, not sure if this is relevant to this.
  14. Hi Team, After successfully hard modding a v1.2 with a Hynix chip. I thought, why have one modded XBOX when you can have two. The second unit is a 1.4 with Winbond chip. Whenever I try and flash the BIOS (Tru3HeXEn 2021), it tries to start and then immediately errors out. The error window is blank. I also noticed in the Tru3HeXEn main window it shows 'Chip:Protected'. I have triple checked the solder points and they look fine to me. I wanted to toss it out to the forum to see if anyone has run into this before (do some boards just not want to cooperate?) and if there was a resolution other than alternate points or trying a mod chip ( I have an Aladdin XT mod chip, but was saving that in case I came across a v1.6). Thanks!
  15. Hello All, Long time listener, first time caller here. I have never modded an XBOX before, but looks like a fun project and I wanted to run my plan by the gurus on this forum to avoid any potential pitfalls (i.e. destroying the data on the original HDD doing something stupid being a newbie) after watching a ton of YouTube videos on the subject. I have an OG XBOX v1.6 that was modded and setup around 6-7 years ago. The motherboard died and I am looking to swap that drive into a new system and upgrade it to an unlocked SATA HDD (I don't want to have to deal with locked HDDs anymore). I have no knowledge of how it was built originally aside from the HDD password, but I love how it is laid out and boots up directly in to the emulator menu, etc and want to keep that. There is no evidence of any hard modding on the motherboard (no chip, no bridged soldering, etc), so I am assuming some version of soft mod. I have two working units (v1.2 & v1.4) and both are currently soft modded with the latest Rocky5 build with stock HDDs. I did install XMBC-Emustation on one of them, but aside from that, they have nothing special going on with them and I don't need anything off those drives. 30K foot view of my plan is as follows: 1. TSOP mod one of the working units and flash the BIOS with Evox M8 with F & G (HeXen 2020). 2. Take the currently modded HDD (400GB) out of the dead unit and using Victoria, remove the user password. 3. Install that HDD in the new TSOP modded unit and test (I assume that since the password is removed from the drive and the BIOS is flashed, it will simply boot even though I have no idea how the HDD was originally prepared). 4. Assuming steps 1 - 3 go as planned, convert the TSOP unit to an 80-pin cable and IDE/SATA adapter and clone the HDD to a WD Blue 500GB SATA using Chimp. -Am I correct in that I should pick the TSOP hard mod option in Chimp even though the HDD itself is soft modded? -Since my new SATA is bigger than the drive I am cloning, pick option 2 for select partitions and pick option 4 so partition G takes up all the remaining space on the larger drive 5. Shut it all down and remove the stock hard drive and install the SATA in the unit and hopefully it all boots up correctly. 6. Assuming everything up to this point went well, clone the new SATA drive with Chimp to another WD Blue 500GB (this time I can just pick the full disk clone option) 7. TSOP the second working unit and install the cloned drive and have 2 working, upgraded units. Let me know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions. I appreciate the feedback!
  16. Hi Everyone, I've got a 1.0 with a Hynix with DVD drive that won't eject that came previously TSOP'd. It had an older version of EVOX flashed and then the two TSOP junctions were removed. It unfortunately didn't have the LBA48 configured so thus I wanted to reflash. When I used the BIOS checker I would get Unknown. When I tried to use Flash tools (blastos and evox) I wouldn't get anywhere with flashing as it was unwritable (makes sense) Today I reapplied the TSOP junctions and when I ran the BIOS Checker I was getting something back - identfying the correct chip and flash. I grabbed the 1mb size version of ind-bios, added a fresh config file to my c drive, started up blastos, and flashed it which seemed to be successful... until the restart. Now the xbox will start, power off, start, power off and then start again with a red/green alternating LED. Have I ruined my TSOP? Should I have done the 256K? I've got a couple Alladiin's on the way, is this recoverable? I'd appreciate your thoughts and guidance.
  17. Hi guys, So I was given an Xbox 1.0 from a friend that is chipped and has a 120gb HDD. Unfotunately the chip does not have support for HDD larger than 120gb and I am unable to flash the chip's BIOS (evox says it is not flash writeable). I'm basically in a bind to find a guide on how to softmod this box and tsop it from a modchip because I don't know what type of chip it is and how to disable it. Pictures below: Apologies for the very dusty MB, lol! As always any guidance will be highly appreciated.
  18. Well, I softmodded then tsopped and tried flashing a winbond bios Evox 8 which was all going well until it turned off after flashing then wouldn't turn back on except doing the triple on then off crap. Assuming I have done it right and it was a bad flash? What now?
  19. I've been trying to TSOP flash my 1.1 XBOX. I've successfully soldered the proper connections on the motherboard (not easy with a soldering iron that doesn't have adjustable heat levels). But for the life of me, I can't get HeXEn to burn to a disc. I've tried 3 different computers and used up 5 DVD-Rs. I've been battling with this Xbox for months now, and I'm sicking of pouring all this money and time into it without any results. I know it's silly to ask, but is there any way that someone could mail me a copy of HeXEn on a disc? I will more than happily pay for the mailing costs of it (shouldn't be that much anyways). I just want to get my Xbox back in working order again so I can finally store my games and play them. If anyone would like to help me out, please shoot me a message and we can arrange details. Also, there's a program that checks if you've properly soldered the connections on the motherboard, right? If someone has that, the same arrangements can be made (preferably both discs from one person). Hopefully this request isn't out of line. I'm just really tired of this thing not working for me.
  20. I've been struggling recently with getting a dashboard on my recently flashed Xbox, and I'm not very sure where to go. I softmodded it with Rocky5 first, then I flashed it with iND-BiOS with no issues, but since it can't find any dashboard, it just goes black after the startup animation. I tried using two different burned copies of Hexen 2018; one either isn't recognized or flashes red-orange-green, and the other isn't recognized at all. Both discs were burned at 4x with PowerISO on Verbatim DVD-Rs, and the drive was able to boot a burned copy of Outrun 2006 and can play retail games, albeit with some difficulty. I was planning on installing a 1TB SATA HDD, and the only option I can think of is putting a dash on it via XboxHDMUSB and then putting it in, but I can't find any guides for this specific method and I don't have enough experience to really know what I'm doing when it comes to building HDDs. What can I do in this situation?
  21. Hello from France. first i have to say that i'm happy to see an active community around the OG Xbox. so i'm on a xbox period for learning hacking and i did a mistake on a v1.1 motherboard. i learned too late that 1.0 and 1.1 have 1Mo tsop size and i flashed manually with a 256ko custom ind-bios... i don't want to setup a modchip as i try to learn stuff. i really would like to recover the tsop bios. so right now, the xbox boot with no signal on TV, i hear hdd and dvd running, when i put hexen disk i can see led turning red as intended. i tried to split tsop into 2x512 and 4x256 banks, nothing works. i esitate to buy a xblast modchip as it worth around 25€... i heard about a 28/29 wires modchip tricks but i found no info about it. any other option i could try with my current stuff ? i have an x3 and aladdin modchip but i read i cant flash tsop from a modchip beside chameleon and xblast one. thanks in advance.
  22. Hello, I am stuck in a pickle and hope someone can help. I just TSOP flashed in my Xbox and it is now stuck in a boot loop. The Xbox logo appears along with the Microsoft logo and then the system resets to do it again. I first installed the rocky 5 softmod, used the bios checker disc to make sure it was ready to flash (it displayed "TSOP?") and then used the TSOP flash mode of the extras disc to flash the system. everything went like normal and then after the BIOS was flashed and the system rebooted it just kept rebooting itself. It is at the 3:56 mark in the attached video . I'm new at this and out of my element here, please help.
  23. I was just wondering if this was possible/advisable and if anyone had done it themselves? Older Chimp versions, up until Chimp 261812 used the Gentoox loader. I never bothered to ask at the time about the other menu options there were and if they worked, including the Flash BIOS option. As I still have archived and installed copies on a couple of less used Xboxes it seems like as good a tool to use as anything else but it is OK and safe to do.
  24. Hello everyone, just a simple question here. Can i have always the flash-enable points bridged so that i can flash a Bios at any time,or will that damage anything? Thanks
  25. Located in Sweden but I ship worldwide. Have four original XBOX base units that I need sell to clear some room here http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I have replaced the harddrives in all of them with bigger harddrives and flashed the BIOS with a custom BIOS. All of the units work flawlessly EXCEPT the DVD drives in them which is a common problem with the original XBOX, sometimes they have problem ready discs or close or eject the tray. This can be an easy fix, there are tons of helpful tips on the internet to solve this by for example cleaning and lubricating them, replacing the drive belt or calibrating the laser. The units and prices are as follows: XBOX unit #1 Version 1.6 SmartXX V3 chip with custom BIOS (can hold several BIOS'es) 500GB IDE Harddrive €60 XBOX unit #2 Version 1.0 TSOP'ed with custom BIOS 80GB IDE Harddrive €35 XBOX unit #3 Version 1.1 TSOP'ed with custom BIOS 500GB IDE Harddrive €45 XBOX unit #4 Version 1.6 Softmodded 1TB SATA HDD €50 All the units are in good condition for it's age, I can provide you with pictures and screenshots if there's a need. Buyers pays for postage and shipping.
