About Me

  1. as a result of having a bad accident I no longer have the ability to tinker and mod. I have given some away to family - but have 2 complete modded systems in great shape. I am unsure but there may be 500 gb drives in them. I have a tub of parts, power supplies, board(?) case and cables. I am keeping a couple for myself, of course... I am going for best offer and will send pics upon request. I would ship to canada preferred but will also ship us - I won't gouge for shipping or this stuff. they are in fantastic shape. I am in Alberta. sad to sell but it is sadder to not be able to mod any longer. Contact for more info. Thanks
  2. Hi all, Sorry if this is the wrong section but not sure if this is softmod or tsop so put it here. After having help to update my original xbox (thank you) I have since found the first unit that wife bought me in 2002. I thought it had been softmodded and slayers installed. Today I opened it up as I want to fit a 200gb sata hdd that I have spare and was surprised to see that it has had some kind of chip fitted in the past. It's a lot of years since this was last used and tbh I don't remember having a modchip. It has the stock hard drive and the manufacture date of sept 2002. It has Evox M7 and dash is +3921 if that is of any help. I just need to know if I am safe to carry on and install the 500gb hdd. If anyone can work out what has been done originally I would love to know, from my limited knowledge so far I wondered if it needed a chip fitted temporarily to flash them back then.
  3. After atleast two months of issues with an HDD swap, I decided to try and TSOP flash my console (1.0 US) While my skills were shoddy at best, I don't think I soldered any pads that weren't the R7D3 or R7R3, and the system seems to boot fine (no error LEDS), but my controller no longer works. I've bought an aftermarket/3rd party controller, and that one didn't work either. There doesn't seem to be any problems on the daughterboard, and all the cables are plugged in right... Any idea what could've happened, and how I might be able to fix this?
  4. So I just finished another successful TSOP flash on a v1.1 and wishing I had spent more time focusing on that vs. having to repair numerous LPC ports from teaching myself to solder. Oh well, I digress… Since I’m fairly new to flashing bios’s (Xbox) I’ve been reading up on which bios is best for my needs as well as the method of flashing. Since I’m pretty old school I was always taught the importance of having a good boot up disc (ie. Hexen) laying around. Kinda fancy since I grew up thinking we’d be booting everything off floppy disks forever! The more I’ve read I’m finding that maybe Hexen isn’t the most impervious or bulletproof solution out there. It would appear that the Hexen-based bios’s could be tainted in a sense (as well as limited in variety). Can someone verify if I’m understanding this correctly? I hear those particular bios files have been pre-configured and therefore not the best choice to flash and replace the old soft mod. I’m of the impression that the most bulletproof method would be hooking up the hard drive to my computer and/or FTP’ing the OGXbox Installer onto it. Anyone? Lastly, please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m thinking that it would be silly to use any of these older BIOS’s without any LBA support. I’d like to utilize one of the newer (but not entirely necessary) Titan or Cerbios revisions available. I’d love to hear what you guys have to say about this. Thanks in advance for your feedback ✌
  5. still having this issue i get freezing/buzzing at the flubber logo with my hdd installed with everything correctly in place using the FatXplorer 3.0 beta to build/preload the drive and I have EVo bios installed too so hdd locking shouldn't be an issue i get a 07 (hdd time out) with no hdd installed (pretty obvious)
  6. https://youtu.be/5V48rYfqE6E This guide is a start to finish how to softmod a xbox (upgrade a softmodeded hdd too) and also how to TSOP flash any xbox (excluding mb v1.6) including flashing winbond & sharp tsop chips. All the files needed are included in the video description. I DIDNT MAKE ANY OF THE TOOLS FULL CREDITS GO TO THE DEVS, I just collected them all in one place.
  7. I am trying to help out a friend of mine that has a genuine xBox Debug console. Apparently he tried to upgrade the hard drive, but inadvertently used an older XDK boot disc to format the new drive. At that point, his flubber animation would freeze and the box was useless. Even putting the original HDD back in did not fix it. We assumed that the TSOP had been corrupted. A couple of other things to note were that if I had the DVD and HDD both unplugged, the boot sequence would complete to the xBox logo but no errors or any other information would appear. Additionally, using the eject button does not actually eject the disc tray, the green LEDs just flash as if it was actually doing something. Where I am at now is I have created a Raspberry Pi PiPROM setup and tried to read the TSOP. The initial image file was 1mb in size, but when I tried to read it on my PC, it was just corrupted data. Since then I have tried to erase and flash different debug bin files. Oftentimes the flash says successful, but when I tried to read the TSOP back to a file, it is only 4k in size. Other TSOP images I have tried just fail to flash at all. What I have found is that If I do an erase, I can actually get the box to boot up off the of an XDK disc and it successfully formats the HDD and copies files over. However, once it completes, I am left with a black screen on boot up. The only thing I can then do is erase the TSOP again to get it to show the boot animation and boot off the XDK disc again. It just seems that while I am able to erase the TSOP, nothing is allowing me to actually write to it. Could the chip be corrupt or is there something else I am completely missing? It has been years since I modded my own xBox, and I have been trying to re-learn and read as much as possible. However, I am stumped at this point and would appreciate any and all help. Thanks for reading!
  8. Hi; So I tried to flash my tsop xbox 1.1 using the latest 2.02r UDMA5 version on a 3tb WD black. My XBOX was previously running EvoX after it finished flash the xbox led now flashes red and green. Could someone please assist.
  9. I should have learned from my past mistake of trying to TSOP flash a V1.0.... I tried TSOP flashing a V1.4 this time. I triple checked my solder point for continuity at connected via's to insure my solder job was good. It checked out fine. I followed this tutorial to the letter as it's got the same Winbond TSOP and version as I, with the exception that I used Hexen 2018 and I think thewheelman282 uses an earlier Hexen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v+GjgIuvQWrgM (youtube search for How To: Xbox TSOP Flashing Explained -Part 2) I was able to reflash the TSOP and all seemed fine. I encounter differences then he had in his video. 1. After installing new flash, the box turned off, and when I restarted it, it went to the new unleashx dash, not booting to disc. D drive shows up in file explorer as 0kb size. I ejected and reinserted the disc and it populated the drive. So i went to file explorer and booted up the default.xbe of D drive to get back into Hexen. 2. Once there, I went to clean up the C drive from softmod. Upon doing so, the operation began. I walked away to do a 10 minute chore, and came back the xbox was off, which is different then in his video. Ok, so I ejected the disc to try to go back into Hexen, but now the eject and power button only fire up the HDD, no video output, no CD spinup and I have an orange flashing ring. Nothing else happens. I left things powered off for a good 10 minutes, and retried starting one more time. Now it boots up to the IND bios, and takes me to the TSOP'd unleashx dash. But if I try to get back to hexen to unlock the drive, again D drive is empty in explorer. I ejected the disc and put it back in and it autoloaded it. Now I'm getting a blank black screen and orange ring flash again. I tried waiting it out, but it went on for at least 10min before i turned things back off. At this point, I will NEVER TSOP flash again, NEVER NEVER NEVER! IT doesn't seem to boot any faster then a softmod, I'm convinced that (at least for me) a TSOP is not worth any effort that's involved with it, it's far more likely to break something, I'm done with anything but a softmod, there's enough PC stuff to handle HDD locks and unlocks, and I'd rather bash my head with that, then issues with TSOP's (and by extension hardmods/modchips). I tried once more. Now when the disc is ejected, the tray ejects and I go straight to a black screen with flashing orange ring. -How do I make sure the softmod is removed? -Should I unsolder the 2 points on the board I soldered? (R7D1 and R7D10) -Without Hexen loading, can the drive be unlocked safely/usable by way of PC and then reinstall it? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  10. Bought of ebay with error 7 (faulty HDD). Installed Jafar modchip, connected unlocked HDD and locked to it, boots into xdash from previous install with soft mod. Soldered both points on board and even tested with multimeter which confirmed bridged, load up hexen and choose tstop winbond, loads Gentoox and selected HDD flash, soon I hit flash bios console turns off and reboot! Any idea to what's wrong here?
  11. I have a modchip - currently unknown, I did it 10 years ago... Considering simplifying things and doing a tsop flash instead. So I know that the mod disables the onboard tsop (d0) so without enabling the chip, and disabling the mod, I cant access the tsop. But with the mod disabled, I cant boot unsigned, and therefore none of the flashing tools. So, am I correct is saying that once the mod is removed, I will need to soft mod, then flash? Is there another way? Switch on the d0 line maybe? boot to flasher, unplug mod (pin header install, and disconnect d0. is that even possible? Open to suggestions... Or.. I could just leave it alone...

  13. The title basicly already say's it all. I wonder if it would be possible to piggy back a second TSOP to the one of the MB (Except for Vcc and Enable). Then lift the Vcc pins (TSOP 1 & 2) and Enable pins (TSOP 1 &2) which then goes to the switch. Highly professional made schematics : https://imgur.com/a/WguB3ZR I have googled it but how it seems no ever had that stupid idea. Or at least I didn't found anything.
  14. Was doing a clear out and find an board under my desk that still boots but I'm missing the original HDD. I tried all the HDD's I got but they all gave error code 6 which I understands the board was unable to unlock the HDD. I've Aladding XT and Open xenium chips, can I install either to get around the HDD and flash the tsop or its never gonna happen without the orignal HDD?
  15. Thanks for your time and any help you fine folks can provide. Here's what I got, and here's some symptoms and our current situation. 2020 bought TSOP'd V1.1 from a nice gent on ebay. It worked fine for the past two years, then recently encountered problems. IND bios, UnleashX Ver:0.39.0.222A Build 572, Kernel 1.0.5003.67, MS dash Kernel: 1.00.5003.67 D:1.00.5659.03, Upgraded HDD to Seagate Barracuda 750gb upon purchase, reapplied thermal paste to heatsinks/chips, clock cap was removed by seller. This xbox is my brothers, so the symptoms aren't first hand, but described as best as he could to me. I have the original HDD around still. Last 2 months, symptoms: Occasional freezing while watching videos on XBMC. Reboot would seem to allow playback. Error message about the skin not functioning properly, so he changed to another skin and seemed to solve that issue. Occasional freezing during game play with Halo (1 or 2, can't remember), the last freeze had a few purple bars in the video output (someone suggested that the lines/bars reminded them of GPU issues they experienced with older computer repairs they did in the past) No boot, current situation: IND Bios logo shows up but nothing more. It stays on the IND screen indefinitely while both of the heat sinks get very hot. (Aside from the heat, it reminds me of bad memory issues with computers not booting. I've never got any screen activity with bad RAM though, so when the IND screen shows, it makes me think that RAM may not be the issue.) Actions taken: Opened xbox and removed HDD and CD drive, attempted startup but no change in results. Found three caps in front of large heat sink bulging. Replaced with same value caps from a parts xbox, no change in results. Redid thermal paste on heatsinks, no change in results. Disconnected front USB cables(wire connectors to controller ports). So just the PSU, fan, and power/eject connectors still attached but no change in results. FTP timed-out, no change in results. No other obvious defects, but my eyes may be getting aged and I could be missing something. But generally, I dont see anything burnt, no other visually bad caps, PSU seems to be working regularly. I'm not familiar with the TSOP process, just the plain jane softmod. Is it possible to redo the TSOP, or is this sounding like a hardware issue to you folks? My brothers and cousins love coming over to get system link going, so being down a box is a bit annoying and we may be losing some saves and profiles that I'm not able to FTP off. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated.
  16. Hi new to all this , managed to softmod and tsop flash my1.0 xbox and i have a IDE from a old xbox. I have been trying to use that but wheni put it in and try boot hexen it wont boot and just goes into the call support screen. I have made sure jumpers are the same but it wont boot into hexen. Could someone maybe point out what i am missing ? I have tried the hexen disc in before and it works fine and in my other xbox and it works fine.
  17. Hi all. Soldered the points required. Ran Bios Checker v5, saw the Winbond. Using Resctoox to flash the bios, when it locked up. It locked up before I even saw the bar. My Xbox will boot, but now the Bios Checker says unknown mod chip ect. I pulled the board as I thought maybe my solder skills weren't what I thought they were. I was able to check continuity on both sides of the and got tone from both sets. Any thoughts at all? This box is softmodded. Ready to pull my hair out. Thanks for any input
  18. Hello everyone. I just finished TSOPing an Xbox model 1.1 and decided I wanted to flash Cerbios 2.01 Retail, and after flashing I have a red/green flashing light with no picture. The system is hooked up via composite (yellow, red and white) video cables and now I have no picture. I cannot access FTP, either. I was also sure to FTP over the Cerbios.ini and boot animations to the root of C ahead of flashing. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Thank you.
  19. Here is a TSOP flasher which fits on a 8MB memorycard. All game saves which works for the normal softmod works here as well and are included. The DL contains a PAL and a NTSC version. It has a EvoX M8+ noDVD F+G Bios on it in 256kb and 1024kb. And one 256kb with raincoat to flash a Winbond TSOP. So now no one needs to softmod just to flash the TSOP. And you can simply change the bios files if you like some thing else but for the most the EvoX should be fine. https://1fichier.com/?ahp5phsesqttr7dznvth
  20. This may be of interest to some. It saves having to Soft-Mod to flash the TSOP. I know is low quality video but you should get the idea SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  21. Hi! this is is my first post, sorry if in any way miss categorized or confusing. I bought two XBOXs at a pawnshop. The one with the X2 modchip is a 1.6 and my backup is a 1.1 xbox. I am completely new to the modding scene. I had a modded xbox back in ~2006? I was a kid back then, I only used it to play backups and emulators, never messed with it much. This is a load of nostalgia for me. At first the X2 1.6 xbox was working fine, until I got curious and played around with Hexen. I tried flashing the X2 1.6 bios listed there. It froze and never completed so I rebooted my xbox during the flashing process (yikes). Now when I turn it on, it bootloops 3 times (quickly turns on and off) then I get green/red flashing light and it boots into error 16. From my own research I (think) this is what is happening, could be wrong though: I borked the bios on my modchip. Guessing the tsop on my motherboard still has stock bios? When X2 fails 3 times, it tries to boot from the tsop. I have custom firmware on the hard drive (custom dashboard, emulators, F partition etc(, and the drive might be unlocked too. Currently my 1.1 xbox is not assembled, it is in parts because I am going to solder my tsop and put it back together, it will be soon though. (Assuming I don't bork it as well). Would it be possible to use my (soon) modded 1.1 console, swap the hard drive from my bricked X2 1.6, and somehow restore it so microsoft dash will load on stock bios? From there, surely I could softmod and flash the X2 chip and be back in business... Or should I remove the chip from my 1.6 and install it on my 1.1 and from there flash new bios? Not really sure how to do the things listed above safely without borking anything else. Tried to find manuals for the Xecuter chip, but all is lost in time. Now only X3 seems to get love.
  22. Hello, Just finished doing my first 128mb upgrade on a 1.0 xbox. Overall it wasn't too bad just had to take my time. Used xblast os to make sure all chips were good and let it run for a while and let everything heat up.. everything is good.. Next step was to flash regular bios back to the tsop replacing xblast bios. Got netflash going and loaded up a 1mb x5035... progress bar completed then the xbox rebooted... on reboot I accidentally bumped the power button shutting the xbox off... not sure if I screwd up the flash by bumping the power button or if there was an issue with the bios file I used... Now when powering up the xbox the power cycles a couple times then flashes red/ green with no video output.. I do have a couple Aladin chips around here somewhere I should be able to flash and use but I was just wondering if there is any way to save the on-board flash chip? I seem to recall reading about some modified m7 bios that may allow saving on-board flash but I'm assuming the modified bios would only work with certain bios on the tsop... Can anyone please confirm if I can save the tsop or am I stuck with a modchip on this box? Took my time installing the ram chips only to rush the bios flash... sooo stupid
  23. Hi Everyone! I'm in the market for a 1.0 motherboard that has had the extra ram up to 128mb chips added, has had all the caps replaced, the clock cap removed, the TSOP write points restored, and CPU thermal paste replaced. Essentially a nicely restored 128mb 1.0 motherboard that won't give me any trouble for! Optionally it would be nice to have the LPC pin headers installed in the case recovery is needed. I know there is a lot of time in that request between the caps and the ram, so please name your price. I'm in the US.
  24. For some reason while trying to flash a new bios to my TSOP I got a message saying 'programming failed', and now I get no picture when my console boots and the LED flashed red and green. So i'm thinking it's bricked. I was wondering if I installed a mod chip would this then save the console? I've seen an 'Aladdin XT+4032 X2 Plus' on eBay and the installation seems very simple for these chips.
  25. Hi i have a Xbox 1.0 with a corrupt bios and i discovered that the TSOP mod wasn’t done before i flashed it and ended up corrupting the bios. I tried the 3 wire trick and that didn’t work and can’t seem to find any bios reflash settings on the Open Xenium mod chip. So that really only leaves me with flashing a new chip and soldering it in. Is that the only option i have?
